West Indies v india 4th test Jamaica

Patience is a virtue. I don't see anything wrong with grinding out your runs. If there are 5 days, why not use them?

I understand completely, but do you prefer to watch this vigils or more elegant innings eg. Ponting, Mohammad Yousaf, Pietersen.

45th test half century for Dravid.

Half Century for Dravid and what, a stike rate of 30?! By Jeez you really have outdone yourself Dravid, take a bow sir!

I prefer to watch great cricket. As everyone knows i'm a fan of the great Glenn McGrath and he isn't known for his entertaining cricket at times. I'm a real purist. Yes the fast innings are great to watch, with all the strokes played at their best. That is brilliance. This though is a different type of brilliance. Given the situation, the pitch and the bowling, Dravid has played a blinder and it's superb to watch him do it.

By that account, Dravid has played a blinder his whole career then.

Which is why he is a great of the game and averaging nearly 60.

Dravid showing why he is a real modern great and producing a priceless innings, the guy is so consistent , averages nearly sixty and has scored runs all over the world against every attack out there. The guy bats at number 3 or 4 and has even opened.

The best asian batsman of his generation and probably the best number three in world cricket for the last 5 or 6 years. Almost a flawless performer made for the tough conditions of test cricket, his concentration is awesome and has very good ability too.

Is he the most prized wicket in test cricket??????

I think yes.

Better than hitting a four and a six and getting out after facing 1 or 2 overs. This is Test Cricket, seperates the men from the boys and Dravid is pure class. It is a five day game and this guy has the concentration and will power to battle it out anywhere against any atack. He very rarely surrenders cheaply. You earn Dravids wicket and you gotta fight him for it.

what is the big deal if dravid takes 200 balls for his 50 ? this is meant to be Test cricket..!

200/8
kumble gone for 45 and dravid for 81
cmmon windies!

I see a troll in the works....Well the funny thing about his comment was that India doesn't have the match winning bowlers that Tupac and co. thinks they have....

what about Sehwag ? no ?

W.I have done 1st part well by bowling india out for 200.

They need to now bat well in 1st inns and get a big lead and bat only once. I dont think they will want to be chasing to many batting last.

Brilliant innings, Dravid, well done.

Kumble also played very well for his 45, standing up when Sehwag and co. surrendered.

The bowlers have set up the game how we wanted -- Brian Lara (bbc sport)

West Indies skipper Brian Lara wants his side to bat India out of the final Test after skittling them for just 200 on the opening day at Sabina Park.
The tourists struggled against some accurate bowling on a pitch helping the pacemen but Lara is eyeing a big toal.

"There is so much time left, it would be great if we can bat all of Saturday and Sunday and put ourselves in a really strong position," he explained.

"If you see off the new ball it's a run feast until the second new ball."

Lara insists India's problems were more down to good bowling than any demons in the surface.

"The new ball was a major factor, the ball did something but after 40 or 50 overs we realised they didn't look troubled at all.

"It was the effort from the bowlers which created the position we are in.

"Hopefully the pitch can deteriorate more but it's going to be a hard task getting them out again so we'll have to give ourselves enough time."

Paceman Jerome Taylor was the star for the hosts, taking his first five-wicket haul in Tests on his home ground.

"Jerome's overall stats aren't impressive but he's an outstanding youngster and from his first Test in St Lucia against Sri Lanka I've thought highly of him," Lara enthused.

"Unfortunately, he's had problems with injury but if he can pass through that and play for some time we're going to see him come to fruition."

Taylor, 22, added: "My line and length was impeccable and I was in control of what I was doing.

"This pitch offered more assistance than previous ones I've played on and I tried to bowl a fuller length when the ball was swinging.

"I'm stronger and fitter, both mentally and physically, but I still have a long way to go and have to keep improving. "

India skipper Rahul Dravid insists his team can still fight back - if they enjoy a good day with the ball on Saturday.

Dravid top-scored with 81 to rescue his side from 91-6, adding 93 with Anil Kumble (45).

"It's probably a score which we can fight with, but we've got to bowl well," he said.

"It's not a score we're happy with, there is no doubt about it, but it's a score to fight with.

"We fought back well, we've got something on the board. It's just important how well we bowl now.

"If we bowl well and can restrict West Indies to a decent score, we have the advantage of batting third and forcing West Indies to chase a target."

This is really bad for W.I. That score of 200 is looking very distant now.

yaar kya bakwaas West Indies.

What the hell are we doing?

This is India. It's not like we are facing Kenya or Zimbabwe. These no hopers are ridiculous. No excuse for this score....come on.

99-8

Ramdin gone, poor stuff from the Windies.

103 AO..

Poor performance to say the least.

W.I 103 all out - india lead by 97 runs!

5 wkts for harbajhan!

Lara is quickly turning out to be a very ourspoken and whining captain. Though bowlers did a gr8 job for him, it was a very difficult wicket to bat.
I wonder what he says next when his team is out for 103. This has been an excellent bowling track so far. The moisture of day 1 is gone yet it has loads for fast bowlers and spinners alike. None except Dravid who is the most technically sound batsman of modern era, could bat with any sort of comfort.

:))) :))) @ WI batting.

Taylers run out was dam hilarious. :)))

COME ON INDIA!

LOL!

Day 1=> 108 PP Posts
Day 2=> A total of 18 posts

if i'm not mistaken, there's been quite a let down in this thread!!

Well bowled India! If they fail to win it from here (ie if they choke), then we should see some heads roll.

With pitch turning sharply on Day2, WI having conceeded a lead of 97 and having to bat last is in real trouble. Interestingly, they don't have any spinners in the squad except part timers like Gayle and Chanderpaul.

India have got this match in the bag, if India chokes, I dont know what to say then.

Interesting how all of a sudden you post when India does well. :)))

The batting from both sides has been terrible, even if it is on a testing pitch.

On the whole West Indian batsman get their pads in the way too much. That is why Vaas decimated them a few years ago with his inswing and that is why Kumble has struck the pads so many times this series.

somebody go and take a dump on Dravid's face please

A slight drizzle, players of.

Agree with ggm, the batting has been nothing short of terrible, thus far.

Lara needed to play like he did last year.

Forgot to mention that we won the test after being 0-3, 39-6. By 341 runs! You won the ODI's? Congrats. We beat you the year before, 4-2.

Just need to get the most boring batsman out then W.I are with a chance.
