What's new

West Indies v india 4th test Jamaica

63/3 is the score right now. Dravid again not going to get out. He's on 26*.

Aloo Sehwag is gone.

No Sehwag is more of a jr Aloo.
Inzi is more of a king edward potatoe, the royal variety, Sehwag is a smaller more common potatoe ie red potatoe.

For all practical purposes, potatoes fall into two easy categories — baking potatoes and boiling potatoes. There’s also a middle ground, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Probably the chief difference between the two types is the amount and nature of starch each contains. Baking potatoes are relatively high in starch and it is called amylose starch. Boiling potatoes are low in starch and it is called amylopectin. This pectin (just as with fruit for jams) is what holds the potato together when boiling or in soup and stews.

Baking potatoes

These are also called starchy potatoes. They tend to be long and have a coarse, cork-like skin. They are high in starch, with a dry, mealy texture. But, they turn light and fluffy when cooked.

They are ideal for baking, mashing and French fries. They are light and fluffy baked, light and creamy mashed, and frankly, the only potato worth frying.

Some of the names you’ll see them under in the supermarket are Russet Burbank, Russet Arcadia, Norgold Russet, Goldrush, Norkotah, Long White (or White Rose or California Long White), and Idaho.

Boiling potatoes

These are also called waxy potatoes. They come in a variety of shapes and can be long or round. They have a thin, smooth skin and an almost waxy flesh. They are relatively high in moisture and sugar, but low in starch.

They are ideal for soups, casseroles, potato salad, roasting, and barbecuing because of their tendency to hold their shape. You can mash them, but instead of smooth and creamy, the results tend to be thick and lumpy.

You will find them sold as Round White, Round Red, Yellow Potato, Red Potato, Salad Potato, La Soda, Red La Rouge, Red Pontiac, Red Nordland, Red Bliss, Yellow Finnish, Ruby Crescent, and Australian Crescent.

Now, there are some potatoes that fall in the middle, in the "all-purpose" category, such as the Yukon Gold, Peruvian Blue, Superior, Kennebec, and Katahdin. They are moister than baking potatoes and will hold together in boiling water. They are particularly well-suited to roasting, pan frying, and using in soups, stews, and gratins. They can be baked, mashed, and fried, but will not produce the same results as the bakers.

And finally, as you must know by now, a new potato is just that — an immature, small potato of whatever variety. Red potatoes may be the type most often sold, but that does not mean that a red potato is a new potato or that a new potato is a red potato.

So to conclude they are both Aloo but one is a tastier potatoe, I think Inzi is the better allround potatoe, Sehwag doesn't look as tasty. But if you peeled both of them and sliced them and then fried till golden, threw them into old newspaper and added salt & vinegar to taste........would you be able to tell the difference??????????? :)))

Anything over 200 and India have this. If anyone remmebers, Pakistan set 280 against west Indies on a much easier batting track and against a inform Lara and still won.

we need a good partnership between these two now,I wudnt be very confident with a 200+ score!

India 128/6 (lead 225)

dravid/kumble digging in again!

hmm..you lost a test to the windies too no? we haven't had that happen yet, and from the looks of it, if dravid and jumbo dig in tomorrow, we will win the test series.

Good oyu should, you had 4 tests!

As they say in URDU, Bakray kee Maan Kub tak Khair banayay gee !!

WIs are lambs to the slaughter now - they have hidden behind dodgy umpiring decisions and weather all through this series - time to face up to the truth Lara and Co.

Victory just doesnt drop in your lap - you have to work for it.

Lara should watch Dravid and his commitment to his team and then conjure up some kind of virtuoso performance in the next 2-3 days

The highest winning total is 212 on this ground - Indias current lead = 225!

Time to pack bags and stay in your hotel WI or will you fight it out ?

yaara, lead is 225

Thanks Tupac - have fixed it in my post but with Dravid around, I expect another 30-40 runs.

Runs are immaterial - its the will to fight it out which will see Lara and Co thru this test - But should WI win this match - the Indian team should be disbanded and sent to work as street cleaners in downtown Mumbai!

India are 145 for 7 (242 ahead)

Anil Kumble is the wicket to have fallen today as Dravid continues to labour on.

Going to be very difficult for us to win this game. But the good thing is that the match has not been completely taken away from us. Anything up to 300 is chasable provided the stars of the WI team click.

We need to get these last three wickets ASAP!

dravid goes for a superb 68..and as i speak, sreesanth hits the first 6 of the game!

171 AO India, good fighting total...can we make history here?

well ur side has done well throughout the series and in all honesty probably deserves to win but im hoping the windies can chase down the 268 runs, even with 8 batsmen it will be tough for windies

Lara - all this hype of his will now be put to the test - last test of the series - last stand and the WIs expect him to take that stand - can he do it ?

Or even a hundred !
yes akhi, who knows. this pitch has got lots of turn and bounce. should've seen bhajji as he was ripping through windies in 1st inning.

contrary to the popular belief, Munaf will be the difference between the 2 sides.

of course, there is that man Kumble who'll be amongst the wickets, but the main destroyer is going to be Munaf for my money.

aahaha, leadfoot Gayle goes 2nd ball for a pair.

what a joker. and some ppl on this board consider him to be a talented cricketer :91:

0.2 Sreesanth to Gayle, OUT, awesome, brilliant, what a start! A pair for Gayle at home - great delivery on off, held its line again, shaped away, zero footwork from Gayle, he just poked at it uselessly, Laxman at second slip holds onto it, great way to begin the innings, eh? Dreadful start by the home side..

What kind of biased work is cricindfo producing nowadays. Isnt commentary there supposed to be neutral??????????

No wonder they dont have an umpire in the elite panel.

apparently Lara plumb 2nd ball of his innings (4th of the WI innings) and denied by rudi.

sreesanth bowling superbly here, and he isn't even the main threat in the bowling attack. WI have no hope here.

what does biased commentary have to do with umpiring?? :)))

Indians are incapable of being neutral

WI plucking away.

18 for 1 at lunch

Another 251 runs required.

West Indies 29/3

prepare for the indians to take over this thread!

Pathan007 said:
well now even making 100 looks far far away for windies :)))
More like making 50, the only way Indians can win matches is on under prepared pitches and this match is another proof of that.

W.I 48/3

Chanders and the hobbling sarwan in at mo!

Thats pretty unfair.
First, no one was calling this pitch underprepared when India struggled to 200, people were just making fun of how slow Dravid was batting. Plus its a WestIndian pitch, India had no say in this pitch preperation.
Second, India should have won the first 2 games, deprived only by lack of time/weather etc.
Its hypocritical to not give credit to India, and especially, Dravid who stands heads and shoulders above any of the batsmen in either team(including everyone's darling Lara).

Credit has to be given to the Indian team for paying the curator to make a pitch like this :P

Na, I am just joking. If India win this test they totally deserve it especially Rahul Dravid.

I see you crashing and breaking down into tears pretty soon too

despite ur side having played really well in particular dravid, u havent won yet, i wouldnt get too cocky till u actually win the game, like i said earlier u deserve to win but i so hope the windies can pull something out of the bag, it is unlikely but u can always hope!

WI trying their hardest at doing an impression of India it seems.

Shame. 55 for 3......not over yet but Sehwag (fat lady) is certainly warming up.

68 for 4 (201 runs to win)

Sarwan not out 24
Bravo not out 4

I can't see us getting past 150. With 40 overs left we will struggle to last the day :-(

Told you that Windies would blow it eventually. They were extremely lucky to come into this test at 0-0 and now they are getting what they deserve...though at the end of the day I dont really care who wins this series, India fully deserve to.

What are India so happy that they're going to beat a team ranked 8th, 1-0 in a 4 match series.

:))) :)))

Quite a turnaround and smack, bang, wallop on the face that! Opposition on the mat at 39/6 at lunchtime the first morning and it gets up and thumps you into the seventh orbit, obliterating you to the tune of 342 runs! Whoa!! :15: :27:

Very few teams can claim to have won a test series in the West Indies recently and India dont win abroad very often. They deserve their moment.

Yah, they do. And Windies deserve to lose as they have played poorer cricket of the two teams.

Sarwan and bravo doing well, if they can put on another 100 runs here!

three 4s in a row from bravo off kumble

W.I 117/4

bravo/sarwan fighting back!
