What do you guy's think of Orya Maqbool Jan? He is one of my worst Pak TV analysts. He speaks a lot but makes very little sense. Shahid Masood is much better then him as is Ahmed Qureshi. OMJ gives the impression of knowing everything yet in reality seems to know very little.

Oreo is a known misogynist, nutjob.

Shahid Masood has been proven a total liar by the Pakistani courts. He loves making up crap. His show ratings are pretty low.

Shahzeb Khanzada, has the highest ratings as per the Pakistani rating system.

Orya is a complete joke who should be banned from being on TV.

As per his own admission Orya became atheist in his young days, he is now trying to compensate by being an extremist.

I think he talks alot of sense, and knows the history. But I have noticed here at PP whenever someone talks about religion he get’s unpopular.

Anyways there could be shows from him which I have missed and that they are not good.

But what happend to Ahmed Quraishi? He was removed from Express newz, but why?

Anyone who bashes PML-N can't stay on express news for long.

Orya is seeing all Muslims being hunted out of Europe now with more New Zealand type attacks in the continent. I am scratching my head.

He has problems with women complaining about men sending unwanted ****pics. To say that I don’t like him would be an understatement.

I have researched a lot on him and have followed him quite extensively. I can conclude that he is an extremist, misogynist and liar.

He is one of my most despised person.

Some of his remarks

-Western education is fake. Universities brainwash Muslims/Pakistani into accepting secularism.

-Universities are full of vulgarities.

-Women are like female ....(can’t post exact word). Their only job is to stay at home and cook.

-Malala is a CIA agent who is on a mission to defame Pakistan so as to pace way for Pakistan’s invasion.

-Sharmeen Obaid is lying. There are no acid attacks in Pakistan.

-US has the highest number of acid attacks

- Population control is a CIA to reduce Muslim population. Pakistanis should keep on having more and more babies. Bigger population means stronger economy.

-Zainab was raped and murdered because Pakistani dramas promote vulgarity.

-Western education is a scam.

These are some of his remarks. There was a big thread on this clown and I had posted extensively on that. Need to bump that.

The only time I hear about him is when people en-masse get triggered by something he has said. I haven't even watched one of his shows, don't know what channel he does his show on. Certainly wouldn't be one of the bigger ones since I haven't come across it.

In any case I don't know why people give him so much importance, just ignore and he will automatically fade away.

"If Imran Khan says I am a Prophet, his followers will believe" : Orya Maqbool Jan

I have listened to the whole program, i cant decide why he had to use such example, he is senior journalist and should avoid such examples.

Yes, we are Ik followers but we can differentiate between right and wrong.

Imagine if any political figure utter such words, what would be those media people reactions, mullahs reaction and our reactions.

From @1minute and onwards:

not a fan of pti. but this man is a joker with a track record to prove it.

This man has no idea what he is saying!

"Yeh Qom Danday kay illawa ander rehnay walli naheed hai"

Ahmaq.

He was the one who supported ISIS, calling them black flags of khorsan and will be jesus's army when he returns

Not even gonna listen but I will bet everything I have that he said something idiotic

Oreo Maqbool is a vile human being. A person with a filthy and extremist mindset. He enjoys support in Pakistan because most Pakistanis subscribe to his ideology.

he is my favourite. Zaid hamid, this guy, aamir liaquat etc,. are good entertainers & comedians

He does not enjoy support in Pakistan and certainly most Pakistanis don’t support his ideology. Otherwise he would be working for mainstream channels rather than two but channels with their studio rooms in random apartment buildings

Who would you suggest from indian side for this type of genre and comedy apart from arnab Goswami? Tho I think arnab on his own may be enough lol

before I die my dream is see from indian side arnab goswami, amish devagn, sambhit patra & from pakistani side zaid hamid, Oreo Maqbool, aamir liaquat in one room discussing/ fighting with each other. Show will start as discussion but as it progresses ppl will start pulling each other's hair & what not lol

That show will be damn hilarious for sure hehe

From the little news/TV that I watch, I know that there's a retired general who's a funny guy, General Bakshi and then there is Sambit Patra. Latter talks less about Pakistan than Indian Muslims, so there is a chance that you won't be able to relate much to what he says.

Yes, all the religious extremists all around the world are trying to use the virus for their own propaganda and in the process end up exposing their own ignorance. Orya Maqbool Jan is one such example. Here are some others

God Is Spreading the Coronavirus in Synagogues as Punishment for Opposing Jesus

Can't get the virus in the church

"This virus is the spirit of God" 3:30

The don't just have their own theories behind the virus. They also know the cure for it:

Shouting as loud as possible to intimidate the virus cure

Famous cow urine cure

At the time of crisis we can all observe how useless all these religious authority figures are.

No human being, dead or alive, can troll better than Sambit Patra. The only thing in his favor is that unlike Zaid Hamid and the likes, he isn't a conspiracy theorist.

This guy just like Zaid Hamid is only popular in India and a very tiny percent in Pakistan. Otherwise these losers will not be confined to low level channels.

Don't need to repeat once more how much i dislike him and proven right once again. Can't expect anything better from a hardcore fanatic like him, probably upset why government is encouraging people to pray at home rather than mosques (President Arif Alvi got the fatwa from ulemas)

From all sects too just in case people don't pull out that card

Very poor statememt

But people need danda for going out for non essential travel. I saw young kids playing cricket, they need to be given a smack or two by the police

I am not too convinced if his support is so fringe and as irrelevant as the channel where he sprouts hatred daily.

Let's not forget Mr. Orya Maqbool Jan was about to be nominated as interim Chief Minister Punjab by PTI in 2018, the party that went on to form government.

The Christian fundamentalists have been terrible during this...here's a post off FB:

'Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. '

A lot of this maybe we should think more about God stuff around...and this is man made as well...it's not exactly a natural disaster so not really right to give God the credit/blame...

Are you sure? I have been following him since Malala was shot and he enjoys huge support. His posts are shared extensively on Facebook and there are dozens of fan pages with hundred of thousands of like.

He appears on Neo TV regularly and he is also invited to other channels. Most Pakistanis share the same extremist views as him! Be it mind-boggling conspiracy theories about Malala to badmouthing western education to ridiculing women rights to calling for blasphemers to be hanged. He is in there! If you ask me, he speaks for the majority of Pakistanis.

Oreo is an idiot of the highest order. Not sure why this guy gets any airtime et all.

Orya Maqbool Jan sent on physical remand in 'hate speech' case

A court on Thursday handed over senior columnist Orya Maqbool Jan to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a four-day physical remand in a case related to remarks against institutions.

The senior journalist was produced in the court after he was arrested by the FIA Cybercrime Wing in an area of Lahore.

He has been booked under the Cyber Terrorism Act for allegedly spreading hatred and giving remarks against institutions on social media.

During the hearing, Orya Maqbool Jan’s lawyer argued that the FIA had no evidence of accusations levelled against his client. He also called the allegations unfounded.

An investigation officer of the FIA replied that there was strong evidence against the suspect for inciting hatred among people.

After hearing the arguments, the court approved the four-day physical remand of the senior columnist in the case.

Orya Maqbool Jan’s remand extended in hate speech case

A judicial magistrate at district courts on Monday extended the physical remand of anchorperson Orya Maqbool Jan for four more days in a cybercrime case pertaining to alleged hate speech against the top judge of the country.

A team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented the anchorperson, who is known for his misogynistic remarks, before the magistrate on expiry of his previous four-day remand.

The investigating officer (IO) sought further custody of the suspect to complete the probe and to get him confronted with other suspects against whom summons had been issued by the agency. He said the agency recovered a lot of material from the suspect’s social media accounts, including a WhatsApp group in which activities against high-ranking state officials were observed.

The IO said the suspect also generated propaganda against the state.

He also presented two technical reports about analysis of mobile phones of the suspect to substantiate his request.

On the other hand, Mr Jan himself made a submission before the magistrate, saying he was only arrested on the basis of his views. He said none of his social media posts was tantamount to glorification of any offence or hate speech, claiming he was rather making a “fair comment” on a judgement issued by the Supreme Court.

Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq argued on behalf of the anchorperson that as none of the offences was relevant to the case against his client, he should be discharged from it.

Duty Magistrate Hamoodur Rehman Nasir noted that the suspect was nominated in the FIR with specific allegations, along with necessary proof in the form of social media posts, videos etc. He observed that even the suspect did not deny making the social media posts and videos placed by the IO on record.

The magistrate said the progress in the investigation was evident during the previous remand of the suspect.

“In order to complete the investigation, further physical remand of four days is granted with clear direction to show substantial progress by all means,” the magistrate said in his handwritten order.

The magistrate also directed the IO to address a complaint by the anchorperson about being detained in a small lock-up under unbearable conditions. The IO was also directed to produce the suspect again on Aug 30.

Orya’s post-arrest bail plea rejected

A sessions court on Tuesday dismissed post-arrest bail petition of anchorperson Orya Maqbool Jan in a cybercrime case pertaining to alleged hate speech against the top judge of the country.

Additional District & Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar dismissed the petition after hearing the arguments by Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, the counsel for Jan.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the case registered by the FIA was based solely on assumptions and that the agency neither had any evidence nor any proof on record. He said the petitioner was in judicial lock-up and the investigation had been completed.

He said there was no need to keep the petitioner behind bars. He asked the court to grant bail to Jan.

A lawyer for the FIA opposed the bail petition, saying ample evidence had been presented before the trial court against the suspect. After hearing the arguments from the lawyers of both sides, the judge reserved his decision, which he later announced, rejecting bail plea.

At a previous hearing, the anchorperson claimed that he was only arrested on the basis of his views. He said neither of his social media posts was tantamount to glorification of any offence or hate speech rather making a fair comment on a judgement issued by the SC.
