What exactly is the role of Hasan Ali in the Test squad?

I am all for horses for courses business but Hasan Ali is an impact player - how and why would he be ignored from being picked? He has to be a must pick in each game?

Shocking decision to leave him out. He was our best bowler in the practice games too. Really curious about the thinking (or lack thereof) here.

He needs to start taking his cricket seriously again. His recent performances aren't exactly how they were last year.

Test squad and the test team selection is absolutely baffling.

I think they are saving him for England series, it will be Amir, Hassan, and the best out of Rahat and Abbas.

Should have been picked ahead of Rahat who last averaged 50 in England 2 years ago and still bowls garbage with the once in a blue moon beauty.

That would be my guess as well, surely he won't be left out when the England games come round. The Ireland test might be used for the other bowlers to stake their claim in the side.

Would have picked him over Rahat alright.

Still he needs to be practicing his skills as he's to prove himself in the Test format if he really wants to finish as a 'good' bowler for Pakistan.

It will do him good to sit out a few games. Get the fire back in his belly.

Too good a player to ignore for long.

It took me a while to realize he wasn't actually playing this match - very surprising! Hope he is fired up for England if he plays.

Should have played instead of trundler Abbas. Hopefully he plays against england.

Watching Rahat ali bowl now, I can safely say that Hasan Ali has no competition!

Definitely should’ve played instead of Rahat, potential is there in test cricket and he’s persistent outside off.

Also a big personality, like Shadab, brings some fire 🔥 to the crease.

I do not like Hasan ali - the test bowler.

I think we need to find someone else who can bowl tight and can also contribute 20 odd with the bat down the order.

He is so short that he can’t settle on a stifling length to control the scoring......and when you have Pakistan’s batting, you can’t afford to let the opposition score 30 runs in a five over spell.

Hasan Ali only has a Test career if he works like crazy on his batting and becomes a genuine all-rounder.

He is not a new ball bowler, neither a green top bowler and he'll be expensive on hard, bouncy tracks. But, he is quite handful for UAE/Asian type wickets with his reverse swing - was the best pacer in recent PAK_NZ series and I am sure he'll trouble every team on such wickets. May not be in AUS, SAF, ENG & NZ, but he definitely deserves a spot in PAK's home Tests in UAE.

Becoming genuine all-rounder might not be easy, but definitely should work on his batting to become a reliable No. 8. Problem for PAK players is that bowling all-rounders are developed through longer FC games where No. 7-9 gets enough chances to bat and bat long in middle. PCB's domestic FC games are composed of 4 List A innings, where even top orders don't get enough time to hit a 50, how come bowlers coming at 7-8 can bat even for an hour?

Reverse Swing specialist but without the use of sandpaper :)

Not only short he has other problems too..
His front leg collapses when he delivers the bowl.
Which makes his point of deliver lower than his height. It also effects his pace.
Don't know what azhar is doing in bowling camp.

He hasn't had trouble finding length. He's strayed from his line due to impatience.

You guys don't have any patience, but then also complain why we can't produce good players.

I don’t really understand what any ones role is anymore:yk

They’re all so bad that I don’t see why we pick on one specific player anymore.
