What's new

What is your view on Aurangzeb, the most polarizing Mughal icon of Hindustan?

India’s greatest leader, no matter how strong the propaganda and falsifying of facts regarding him are, they can do their best to wash out history books, but Aurangzeb would make sure a coward like Modi sticks to chai and not even dream of leading a nation.

I am proud my ancestors chose Islam. A religion can be spread by the sword, but not force. You can’t change what’s in the hearts, no matter how many swords are brought out. I feel sorry for the people alive today whose ancestors and those after them stood by falsehood and idol worship after the truth had already come to them.

“My forefathers chose ignorance, so will I”- Never understood that mindset and it’s just false pride when said forefathers are now being punished in the grave and wishing they had turned toward God for real instead of associating partners with Him.

'Hindu-Taliban': Uddhav Sena Lashes Out At Those Calling For Aurangzeb Tomb Removal

Shiv Sena(UBT)'s mouthpiece Saamna has sparked controversy by labeling those demanding the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb as "Hindu-Taliban."

Shiv Sena's (UBT) mouthpiece Saamna has stirred a new controversy by calling those who are demanding the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb "Hindu-Taliban."

"Some new Hindutva advocates have raised such voices, claiming that just as the Babri Masjid was demolished, they will also destroy Aurangzeb’s tomb. These people are enemies of history and Maharashtra’s proud tradition," read the newspaper's editorial.

"They want to spread poison in Maharashtra’s atmosphere and present themselves as Hindu-Taliban. By distorting Hindutva, they are also insulting Shivaji Maharaj’s vision of Hindavi Swarajya," it added.

The editorial alleged that some people want to erase history, adding that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should "stop this dirty business" being carried out in the name of Shivaji Maharaj.

The controversy began earlier this month with Samajwadi Party MP Abu Azmi eulogising the Mughal era ruler during a interview. Subsequently he was suspended from Mahashrashtra Assembly for the remaining of the budget session.

The row has since snowballed which escalated after some Hindu organisations threatened a "Babri-like" action if Aurangzeb's tomb is not razed in Sambhaji Nagar.

Aurangzeb's Tomb Mark Of Maratha's Resilience

The editorial revisited history emphasising that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Marathas fought against the oppression for 25 years, ultimately ensuring that the Mughal ruler met his end in Maharashtra.

It argued that the presence of Aurangzeb's tomb in Maharashtra is not the mark of Mughal dominance but a symbol of the Maratha's resilience.

"The king established 'Swarajya' by the power of the sword, and anyone who faced his sword was buried in this very soil. One such king was Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb's tomb is a symbol of Maharashtra's identity and its fighting spirit. Some fanatics linked to BJP or RSS have taken the stance of demolishing this tomb, or they will destroy it. They need to understand history," it said.

India is such a depressive country.

Instigating unnecessary violence.

Recently, in Rajapur, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, a Hindutva mob forcibly broke the gate of a mosque during Taraweeh prayers, while the police stood by and did nothing.

Why do so many people seem to be fueling division instead of focusing on progress? Why is there a persistent push to instigate hatred and look down on other religious groups instead of fostering unity?

Why does it seem like so many people in India are Jobless? Aren't there more constructive things to focus on? Why do individuals from all walks of life choose to incite violence, spread hate, and demean other religious groups?

I am not sure what they will achieve by removing Aurangzeb's tomb. It is just stunt to get religious fights.

What is the difference? Is a sword without force useful?
You can’t change what’s in the hearts, no matter how many swords are brought out. I feel sorry for the people alive today whose ancestors and those after them stood by falsehood and idol worship after the truth had already come to them.
You can feel whatever you want. But, the people who chose not to embrace islam believe their path is the true path. You mentioned "falsehood" and "idol worship". I know islam is against idol worship. But that doesn't mean it is not right for those people who believe in such practice.

:) You are calling others ignorant. I see you as ignorant when you said "are now being punished in the grave".
The point is, a brainwashed person in one religion believes all other religions are false. Let us give everyone a chance to practice their faith and not demean their path.

Wily Brits took advantage of Mughal hospitality. If they were the barbarians you guys say they were then they would have realised what was going on. They were just brothers thinking that they would be hospitable to guests and next thing you know the whole country is gone.

PS, nothing funny about it. The most brutal story of the whole thing for me.
