The two-time PSL champions Lahore Qalandars are out of the playoffs race after suffering 6 consecutive defeats in the 9th edition of the PSL. Saj Sadiq sheds light on the struggles of the Shaheen Afridi-led franchise in HBL PSL 9 and what caused them to suffer this fate?

Watch review by Saj Sadiq here:

Sticking with the same failed management and no improved skills and tactics.

Lack of quality players aswell didn't help either.

Overall a poor season which has now again brought to light that they were overconfident after winning back to back seasons that they'll come around and do it again.

Overall other teams have improved and while Lahore didn't.

The X factor in the middle overs was Rashid Khan.

Shaheen's captaincy has been exposed. In 9 games he has shown complete confusion and he was out of ideas by the end as to what he could do to uplift the team's performance. The team selections were all over the place. They habitually persisted with Fakhar and benched Shafique who was their main performer in the last season, Kamran Ghullam got only one game when he was a regular in the last 2 seasons.

Poor team selection, absence of Wiese in earlier games and Rashid Khan factor.

Shaheen's own performance with the ball. He has been habitually getting trashed in the death overs and has cost his team many games. His form is very poor considering we have a T20 WC coming up.

Shaheen Afridi at the end of the Quetta game: "We played really good cricket this whole season, just didn't have luck"
You would expect better introspection as leader of the Pak team

Already told you bro, search the word manchild in the dictionary and you'll see a screenshot or a Wikipedia profile of SSA

Lads end up at the bottom of the table, yet their captain and other players are "shushing" their critics.

Not really convincing or tasteful when they have only won 1/10 games. This type of individualistic mindset set them back.

Seems like LQ are still living off PSL7 and PSL8 and will take those wins with them forever.

Yes they were achievements but they were an absolute shambles this time around.

Shaheen seems to have a very high opinion of himself, and has to shoulder a lot of the blame for the mess.

The overseas picks were not good enough. They already have Abdullah and Kamran so did they need to pick Hope.

Abdullah Shafique should have batted at 3 throwout the tournament.

Abdullah bats OK when he is fighting for his place but brings little to the table when he has to play as an aggressor.

Aaqib Javed is to be blamed for this humiliating defeat. He picked the mediocre side when he had the chance to pick much better players like Akiel Hussain etc but instead, he chose not to pick them and when was the replacement for Rashid? Ahsan Bhatti? george linde???

To be completely fair to Abdullah when given the opportunity to bat at no 3 he has scored.

The problem is, he isn't a t20 player and his selection doesn't make any sense. Like for the upcoming t20 worldcup where are you going to play him?

He can't replace saim because saim has a better sr and the focus should be to convert saim as a world class bat rather then Abdullah, he can't replace rizwan as even though I have issues with rizzu, their isn't any other keeper to replace him as usman Khan isn't selected, and rizzu is useless down the order so opening it is.

He can't replace babar at no 3 and he's just a discount version, fakhar I have issues with at no 4 but fakhar's sr justifes his place.

So Abdullah plays where? At no 5? A position he's going to fail at?

Get a new head coach and move Aaqib to a bowling coach or mentor type role.

I agree with those who say the overseas players they picked weren't great.

KK also looked like this Muzarbani's hair style in PSL 9 :ROFLMAO:
Please photoshop and add KK alongside LQ, they were probably worse the LQ in my eyes, even though they won a few more games and got eliminated later.

Reason I'm saying this is because LQ issues can be fixed by management changes, whereas for KK, its best to ask Jesus christ for help, because I for sure can't revive the dead.

Lahore needs a big shuffle in the management. Aaqib is not the most intellectual one they would want to be picking players blindly. Make him their guide or something and bring new faces in the management who can pick players based on condition and performances rather than just throwing a dice and pick a player that has a name mentioned according to that number on a parchi.

Disagree, Abdullah was a major factor behind their success in Season 8 and 9, he was wrongfully dropped this season and when he came back, he scored two fifties. Fakhar in comparison got too many undeserved chances and should have been dropped a lot earlier

Aaqib Javed exit likely as now fast bowling coach for SL?

The point is Pakistan is stubborn and dead set on rizwan, Babar, saim and fakhar being 1,2,3,4

So where does Abdullah play? It also doesn't help that Abdullah is a super star in psl but in international he's a dud against decent bowling always getting out via law to basic deliveries that pitch low.

The Sri lanka game was excellent but it showed that he's more of a test player and in odi can play long innings.

He's defo a much superior opener to imam however.

Surprising to see that despite having players like Rashid in the team, they couldn't achieve the feat.

Incredible that Aaqib is saying the PSL standard was poor this time, yet his team finished bottom.

He should have stepped up. How long can he hide behind this and that. He is too negative when he bats and looks robotic at times.
Every other team played thier core in thier position they preferred to play and Lohare didn't but I do agree he bats to negative even if he isn't used to playing in that position.

He has talent but talent without temperament and positivity will take you nowhere.

The overseas selections were faulty at best. Should’ve targeted explosive middle order batsmen and a top quality (for PSL standards) spinner or two, rather than the likes of van der Dussen, who simply didn’t fit the overall team balance considering the existing squad, despite performing well individually. Key performers not turning up this year, particularly Rauf and Zaman, also played a big part in the poor results.

The performance of LQ was so poor this season that even rumors of SSA removal from captaincy are ripe everywhere.

If it happens, the loss of national captaincy for SSA will add further pressure to his position as LQ captain.
