When will the PCB find the courage to say that senior players have been "dropped" instead of being "rested"?

Once again, reports suggest that senior players will not feature in the upcoming tour of New Zealand. And once again, the PCB is likely to spin it as them being "rested" but will never admit that the changes are due to their failure to perform over an extended period.

Let’s be real: if these players were performing consistently, they’d be on that plane. But after an extended period of underwhelming performances, it’s clear the team is looking to move on.

Why can’t the PCB just say it like it is? Fans aren’t fools; we can see the writing on the wall. Instead of hiding behind the veil of "rest," why not be honest and admit that these players are being replaced as part of a necessary transition? Transparency builds trust, and it’s about time the PCB learned that.

This whole circus of resting player for one series without calling them out for repeat poor performances, just so the fuss goes away is not going to work now.

If Babar has a problem, drop him by saying he has been dropped until he comes back with good match winning performances in domestic and so on

Ye ... I hope theyre rested for a few years at least, I wont complain.

Hassan Ali talking about the difference between rested and dropped during a PODCAST:

"When I was dropped, I got three different views. Babar Azam directly said to me, 'Your performance isn't up to the mark.' I said, 'Fair enough.' A selector told me, 'We want to try out new boys.' and the head coach said, 'We're resting you.' I went to coach’s room at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) and said, 'Please clarify this for me. I've received two different explanations; can you clear this up?' They said, 'We're resting you.' I said, 'Rest means I'll be out for this series and come back in the next one, right?. They replied, 'No, we're dropping you.' I asked, 'just tell me one thing: are you resting me or dropping me?' They said, 'We're dropping you, but you should think of it as rest.' I said, 'How can I understand that? I said, ’Just tell me straight; I'm not here to fight. If you want to motivate me, do it another way. I really want to know what's lacking in me, what's not right.

“When Babar told me, and I said to Babar, 'Okay if you feel I'm not fitting in, I don't mind.’ But I didn't understand the other explanations. Anyway, those things couldn't be clarified.”

“After playing cricket continuously for about a year and a half—after the World Cup—we were in Bangladesh. After that, the West Indies were supposed to come. So I said to Babar, 'I need rest. I've been playing continuously for two years. I need a break.' He said, 'I'll talk to management.' I said, 'Okay.'

The next day, he called me into his room and said, 'I've talked to them, so we're giving you rest.' I said, 'This is rest, not being dropped, right? Give it to me in writing.' Jokingly, he said, 'Are you crazy?' I said, 'This is Pakistan; think about it.' He said, 'What are you talking about?' I said, 'I trust you, but please, just give it to me in writing.' He said, 'What's this about? Get lost; go rest, jokingly.'

This is Pakistan man even our politicians don't get dropped, they get "rested" and put on the bench until they need to be drafted again.

Same story in cricket.

This wasn’t the case before the whole Dosti Yaari gang kicked in

Before it I remember players were getting dropped for poor performances and attitude without any stress

The current captain Rizwan when dropped from the Test team delivered a press conference where he mentioned that he had witnesses who saw him go to the coach/selectors and asked to be rested to save face

Someone like Hassan Ali should accept he has failed to perform in almost every tournament he has played after CT#17. He is living in delusion, timely self-assessment, introspection and realization is more important rather than expecting from others to tell you that your performance is not up to the mark.

If someone is not performing for long period, he should be dropped and clearly told by selectors only that you are being dropped. There is no need for coach or captain to provide other reasons

At the time when this player's power is reduced even the management hesitates to say they are dropping any player
