There are 28 batsman who have 3 or more 100s outside home since his debut.

Smith, Williamson, Kohli, Rahane, Dhawan, Mathews, Brathwaite, Bravo all have better averages than him.

He is averaging 25 in Aus and Ban and 17 in NZ.

Seems like he is not even among top 5 batsmen outside home. Smith, Williamson, Kohli, Azhar Ali, Rahane, Brathwaite, Vijay all seem to be better than him.

Depends how you rate a batsman, if you cherry pick stats then you probably don't rate him very high.

Still in top 4.

Since 2014, he has been doing well away from home too. Averaged 50+ on tours to SA,UAE,India. His problem is his conversion rate: Only 3 tons but lots of fifties. But he doesn't have any condition-specific flaws. His record in Aus and Bangladesh is poor because of sample size issues. Cherry picking is too easy to do.

But I will definitely say Smith and Kohli are definitely better than him as overseas batsmen. Root and Kane a level below. But still brilliant.

Away from home

Smith
Kohli
Kane
Rahane
Root

Azhar and Vijay are 32+. Not a fair comparison.

Overall

Smith
Kohli/Kane/ Root
Rahane

was done by a yorker today. Once again root fails when he's needed. A good bowler will get him out.

Definitely not at the level of Amla and ABD yet. He is better than almost any one from his age and experience-group, however.

I rank him high, but he can do better.
