Which four heads would you put on a cricket version of Mount Rushmore?

Why Dalmiya? I know but curious to know what others think he brought to the table.

Despite flaws Packer and Dalmiya were influential in ways no cricketer could be.

Why Dalmiya? Responsible for shifting balance of power of cricket administration to Asia (India to be more specific), shifted WC away from England despite opposition by elitist snobs of Eng/Aus. Created a strong Asian bloc to counter Imperial Cricket Council, paved way for BCCI to become the financial superpower of the cricket world. Influential cricket admin, very fair, made Indian domestic cricket a well paying profession, unleashed India's financial potential through TV rights, brought Bangladesh to test fold, oversaw Indo-Pak bilateral cricket ties after a lull. Made ICC richer (like ICC KO/CT) when it was struggling to pay bills, helped associates, well respected by all other boards/fans which is rare for cricket admins.

Unfortunately wouldn't want to have Wasim. Brilliant player but not the cleanest character.

Grace
Bradman
Sobers
Tendulkar - not that I think he was the best cricketer from Asia or even the best batsman from India, but he is synonymous with India’s growth period.

Misbah-ul-Haq

Mohammad Hafeez

Sohail Khan

Asad Shafiq

Instead of building their monuments on Mount Rushmore, I think we can actually send them permanently on Mount Everest.
And if there is place in the plane, Waqar can join them.

WG Grace is a folk hero and an English legend but with all due respect he had a mediocre international cricket record at a time the level of competition was not great either with 2-3 international cricket teams.

I respect Sir Grace. But there have been better cricketers and his appeal to a global cricket audience will never be the same as to English fans.

1.W.G. Grace
2. Donald Bradman
3. Garfield Sobers
4. Sachin Tendulkar/Viv Richards/Shane Warne

Bradman, Sachin, Warne, Steyn

Apart from being very good steyn hasn't done much. WG, Hobbs, Sobers, Imran etc would be more deserving

Mt Rushmore is about impact to the game, not necessarily ability.
Grace was one of the most well known people in the Empire, was hugely important for the growth of the game

Also, his international cricket was played well after his prime, which was in the early 70's. There were years where he scored more hundreds than the rest of England combined. His record compared to his contemporaries, and his impact on the game is 2nd to none (including bradman) and that is why he has to be on the mount

Mine would be:
Bradman
Sobers
Imran
Sachin

Hard to leave out Richards, but you also have to look at their celebrity status.

Sobers and Bradman make it purely based on their cricketing achievements, whilst both Imran and Sachin achieved a lot in cricket, however had that celebrity status as well - that is the reason why Richards misses out by a whisker.

His impact on English cricket is great.

But when i look at cricketers with impact on the game from a global POV then Grace does not feature that high.

He's great of the game and a legend but he does not belong on my mountain.

Cricket was only being played in England at that time, and his impact resulted in the game spreading to Australia, and later South Africa. Such was hit impact, that he resulted in cricket becoming international and 2 countries being incorporated into the system

What did Wasim did that was so groundbreaking?

His peer review is quite exceptional. Batsmen of the calibre of Lara go on record to state Wasim is by far the best bowler they ever faced. Other top 1990s batsmen say the same so the hype is for real.

But yes, neither in terms of size or quality of record does he stand taller against someone like McGrath, Murali, Warne so our confusion is understandable.

Most fascinating thing is even most Pakistanis rate Imran and Waqar ahead :))

'Our' as in the confusion of the most repulsive people on Earth :yk A bowler who is left arm, can swing it both ways with the new ball, reverse the old ball and bowl very quick is not rated by IT dweebs, hardly matters does it :mv This is why the British people have always had a particular view on such individuals from that land, can't really complain about those horrors to be frank

Mediocre 4s from our side :

Misbah - Waqar - Malik - Hafeez

Inti- IQ - Wasim Bari - Talat Ali

Azhar Ali - Asad Shafiq - Yasir - Ifti

The first 4 were also my original 4 in the Rushmore so it seems like my hunch is dominant so far!!!
