Basically, Powerhitters are categorized into 2 classes:-

1. Batsmen who are Hard hitters of the ball (MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya)
2. Batsmen who rely on Timing the ball (Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh)

If you talk about the Indian Cricket Team, above are 4 batsmen who can be categorized in those 2 classes.

Virat Kohli probably comes under both categories.

Which kind of Powerhitters (Hard hitters or Timers) do you think will have more success & why? Also you can categorize power-hitting batsmen from other countries into these 2 classes.

I believe those who time the ball have a better advantage than just hard hitting.

In his recent interview, Shoaib Malik feels that power-hitters are not needed if batsmen can score around 90-100 strike rate!

It requires a balance

I think every team needs at least one person who is capable of launching from ball one, preferably one as an opener and one down below.

probably said that to reassure the team, i doubt Malik actually believes that considering he spent a decade playing with Abdul Razzaq and Afridi

A lower order power-hitting batsman who can strike at over 150 SR could be difference between a total score of 320 and 350.

That should only be the case if all batsmen are batting at that SR. In our team half the batsmen are striking at 70 which means the rest have to bat at 120+ to make up for their deficiency.

I feel the Openers can be timers of the ball, middle order a mix of both timers and hard hitters while the lower order can just be hard hitters.

Best batting order in keeping with modern era:

1. Hell to leather type opener, ultra aggressive no holds barred (think of Sharjeel, Gayle, Sehwag types)
2. Slightly more circumspect opener but also someone who is actively looking for boundaries (Sharma CWC 2015)
3. Best batsman in the side, anchor person, able to operate at 80-100 SR for a long innings (Kohli/Root)
4. Second best batsman in the side, able to operate at 80-100 SR for a long innings (Kohli/Root)
5. Can strike the ball a long distance at will, milk the spinners and play tuk tuk when collapse is on (Morgan)
6. Hell to leather type (think Killer Miller)

Perfect!!

Lance Klusener who was one of worlds hardest hitters of a cricket ball remarked

"The secret to hard hitting is timing"

Klusener used one of the lightest cricket bats

Sharjeel, the best power hitter... period. gayle is trash compared to him

You're right, however, nobody in the team barring Babar Azam & Haris Sohail fits.

#3 and #4 should not be 1 dimensional anchors. They need to be able to hit the pacers too.

Batsmen who can switch gears according to the situation like Angelo Mathews

Nobody should be batting at a strike rate in the 70s. Anyone with a SR below 80 shouldn't have a LO's career (probably 85 really in the current climate).
