So Pakistan almost have a good young team. The only TTFs remaining are Hafeez, Wahab? and Azhar. Although one could argue that Hafeez merits a place with his bowling.

But we've been here before. After the 2011 World Cup, Pakistan was supposed to rebuild. Guys like Afridi, Misbah, Younis, Kamran and others were all detrimental towards the side. Many old players returned for Champions Trophy 13 and 2015 World Cup. They have largely contributed in taking Pakistan to the bottom of the rankings. Ideally, if a team is rebuilding, there should be young players; But it is highly likely that the selectors will bring back some underperforming seniors.

I am speaking ODIs here.

So...Who will be recalled?

-Asad Shafiq
-Wahab Riaz
-Umar Gul
-Fawad Alam
-Khurram Manzoor
-Sohail Tanvir
-Sohaib Maqsood
-Faisal Iqbal
-Zulfiqar Babar
-Mohammad Sami
-Umar Akmal
-Anwar Ali

Any others?

Wahab Riaz isn't over yet. I damn sure he will make it.
Muhammad Sami may be after good PSL3.

I really like Fawad Alam but he should take retirement from LOI and only aim for Tests.

Hopefully none. Instead the ones in the team besides Malik should be booted out

Only one I can see making a comeback is Umar Akmal, I feel we're moving away from these players finally.

Would like to see us go forward with this squad.

Just replace Shahzad, Azhar and Wahab with Sharjeel, Talat and Asghar.

Hafeez needs to get back opening.

Usual nonsense of Kamran, Wahab, Shehzad, Umar maybe even Anwar. Then when they will fail the current failures will be brought back.

Rinse and repeat.

Wahab has been trash in all formats. They have to move on.

I agree with you but given the Pakistan history all over trash players been selected over and over and yes we have to rememb Wahab isn't out because of his poor performance ... it was his injury which ruled him out otherwise our selectors would still be keen to play him in the must win game against SL.

We should inject players like Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, Amir Yamin etc. to this team instead of going back to TTFs. They are more deserving players than all the names mentioned in OP.

I read all the comments and nobody has mentioned the one big TTF that used to make comebacks like Chris Jericho.

Who can forget Imran Farhat haha

salman butt should be a good call... very consistent, selfless, honest.... would make a great addition to the team with the mishaps of Aamer decline in bowling and hafeez struggle to find his feet at the crease..

Thank god he is not playing List A games. At least I hope not.

Even though its a crime id out money on our wasteman selectors to bring back asad technique

I want Khurram manzoor back in the team.

I also think asad Shafique should get another stint in our LOI team. Sami, hell no. Wahab, heck no.

They should stick with Amir, Hassan, Junaid and maybe try Rumman, Abbas and try and improve Faheem Ashraf's bowling so he can be the all rounder we desperately need down the order.

The words "Salman Butt" and "honest" don't belong in the same sentence.

it makes me laugh to see some posters have vendettas against Unar Akmal and consistently hating on him every chance they get without any logical arguments. Some arguments are valid and he does derseve crtic especially in his fitness commitments and recent performances, However some of it is uncalled for and sickening. It's funny because I have been here for a short while and noticed a correlation and pattern with certain posters and unjust hate towards umar akmal, OP being one of the Many.

Umar Akmal in the last three years, average of 21 with one fifty and highest score of 59.

#unjust hate

:salute

Fawad Alam, deserves it.
Also Umar Akmal may get a callback if Pakistan crashes out today, which is not a bad thing.

I feel it will be Kamran again. Guy was in good domestic form, and Pakistan will want to try and make their order more aggressive (feel like Azhar will be dropped after this tournament, to focus just on tests). I wouldn't want Kamran back though, time to move on.

I also feel with Umar now probably out for some time, (sharjeel gone didn't help either even though he opened), Pakistan will want an aggressive batsman at no.6. There's few candidates for that position (hence why Umar was brought back in the first place IMO even with fitness issues). Hence I expect Maqsood to make a return. Maqsood's form hasn't been terribly good in recent past hence why he's been out, but I reckon as soon as he starts putting up scores he'll be recalled pretty sharpish. He's the only player with experience apart from Umar who really hits big.

So yeah I would bet on Kamran Akmal and Maqsood on being the guys recalled.

I think we are done with Kami in LOIs at least.

I don't, think he'll be back. We gave him just one series and dropped him. So there will be the feeling if he had more games to adjust maybe he would have come to form. A few series and failed, I agreed he would be out. And especially after these performances Shehzad will be out for a while. I'm not in favour of it, but he would be the senior i would most bet on coming back. Though on the whole, think Pakistan will move forward, they wont go back. Malik's performing and Hafeez might linger around before being dropped, but thats it. Most of the seniors have retired, faded to obscurity (even in domestic), there's not many to bring back.

Salman Butt unfortunately

He will be ignored even if he performs. PCB pretty much have accepted Butt has to be out in order for Amir to continue international cricket without too much scrutiny. And with the fixing trials of Sharjeel, Latif, Jamshed etc., PCB won't dare bring him back now. I feel it was almost an unwritten rule with the fans and the boards of other countries, most were happy to allow Amir back but not the other two. Butt back won't sit well with the players or the coach either, not worth the hassle (remember Arthur saying something alluding to that problem in an interview, think PCB in general dont want the hassle).
