If Australia player's said BGT is on par with Ashes then no need of opinion from Pakistan expert which is always biased. :kp
Neutral experts aren’t ‘biased’—they’re reflecting the fact that BGT is rising, but Ashes still holds the crown. So you can keep holding a straw

BGT cricket quality is already surpassed the Ashes quality.

Everyone's know England will lose all the test in Australia , Ashes rivalry I alive because Australia competitive performance in England .

Much like India-Paksitan series for Pakistan fans  . Local holiday in farhan's home town because he hit sixes off Bumrah
Reg ind-pak, there are varied opinions from indians. So i am not sure if i should take your word for it.

But the two major over-hauls from the top of my head i have seen of Indian team have been after losing to Pakistan. First was Aane Do series which led to multiple players getting dropped. And then the CT 2019, which led to major changes too.

So idk man, you tell me?

Reg Farhan, I have no idea about the holiday but didnt your own media channel make a whole documentary about Farhan just recently?

I think India may not win another BGT in the next 20 years. Home or away. :inti

I expect Indians to avoid talking about BGT very soon. :qdkcheeky

Gambhir and Sehwag after Aane Do and Ashwin/Yuvraj after CT '17, not wholesale changes.

The point of more than which series is bigger what is more important to be noted is which series is more competitive? India have been more competitive in Australia in test series in the last few series compared to how England fares in Ashes series in Southern hemisphere. Another point is since 2007 Australia is playing India every year atleast in a series in one format making high frequency of India-Australia series. Even Australia and England have not played every year in one series or the other. Recently India are having a slump in test match game. But not sure England are doing very well in tests.

Suryakumar yadav told it in the press there is no rivalry. You gotta take his word

Neutral fans shouldn't really care about "history" "geography" lol They should just focus on quality of cricket. SA vs Australia final was top notch. The way SA came so far from behind to win the final was great. Same goes for Srilanka winning in SA. I was eagerly looking forward to Ashes not because of "history". I couldn't care less. I genuinely believed it would be an epic series that would go in favor of England. In the end mhe series. India vs England series was terrific series with so many twists and turns right till the 20th day of the series. If you ask me India vs England series was much more competitive than what we see in Australia. 2 day test followed by 4 day test.

Do you have any bigger or even similar example than this where same or more players were dropped after a bad series against Australia?

Alright, i will take his word then if you say so. You should hope the ICC stops placing India Pakistan in the same group and ACC stops changing rules to ensure India-Pakistan game like they did under Jay shah. Even after having so much power, indians dont get to play their rivals Australia in world tournies as often in group stage. I dont even remember when was the last time this happened. This must be disheartening for you?

Lol. The point is about which is bigger. Even sri lanka vs bangladesh is also competative.

Nice try changing the narrative that suits india

Australia D? Do you even know how a transition period works? It's not like they will be rested, but retired from international cricket and there's nothing stopping Australia from building a bench strength.

The Ashes has an immense cultural importance (to Australia) to it that no other series can match.

In reality test series against South Africa have been better in my lifetime.

Where do you rate Aus vs Ind?

Starting from 2001, I dont think there has been a single poor series. Also India's back to back wins downunder just amplified the rivalrly.

Very good and enjoyable.
A good cricket rivalry.

I was actually being generous. If you want to be that precise, only Sehwag was dropped immediately after a Pakistan series.

GG was dropped after the subsequent England ODI series

And Yuvraj and Ashwin were dropped in the Caribbean.

Talking about "supposedly" neutral fans. An Australian podcast did compare with 2005 Ashes vs 2025 Anderson/Tendulkar and put Anderson/Tendulkar series from 2025 above 2005 because each and every test had something in it unlike 2005. That is not my opinion.

Indian fans never cared for it.At the MCG INdia vs Pakistan total audience 89000 , few days later India vs Zimbabwe total audience 87000. When two populated countries meet each other obviously there is going to be a surge in viewership.

Bro, your opinions are highly inconsistent. When mentioned you say indians fans never cared. Then why do you have pages after pages with indian fans trying to insert themselves in Ashes somehow?

More to do with Gambhir's inept coaching than anything else. He is building a T20 unit for Tests. 4 batsmen 4 all rounders 3 bowlers sort of set up. He is a clueless coach with zero credentials. India has so many domestc batsmen making centuries after centuries. Gambhir ignored all went with bits and pieces players.
Your opinion on GG has taken a sharp turn. You said to me in Oct talking about NZ series (3-0) that “he gets a clean slate because two passengers got kicked out after that series”. From a clean slate coach to clueless coach in matter of 2 months.

That was not a complement just you know lol That was a dig too. I implied he is getting away.

Pakistan care about Indian series when they play in it, quite natural. But not sure what Indian obsession is with the Ashes and trying to make BGT bigger than Ashes which it is not for Australian or English fans.

Away from cricket Majority of Australians do not consider Indians as their equals due to racism anyway.

BGT is not a thing other than Britain's Got Talent...
Plenty of non-cricket fans follow the Ashes. Outside of India I've never even heard of anyone call India Vs Australia a rivalry. I've got Aussie colleagues and none of them seemed to realise that Indians viewed them in that way. They just assumed they hated the English like all other former British colony.

So who were those people setting ground attendance records last year in Aus ? Perhaps it was the Evil Martians trying to troll Pakistanis ehh ?

Here comes there "I have got an australian colleague" bit lol Juts make up a story out of thin air

Most of the comparison come from former cricketer themselves over the last 25 years. Atherton, STeve waugh. Mark waugh went one step ahead and said it is better. So don't say it is INdian fans that say this. I couldn't care less whether Ashes is bigger or smaller. I have no stake in it. For Indian fans INdia vs Australia at all levels trounces significantly INdia vs ANy other country. THat is all that matters to us. Just search who are the most popular individuals are celebrated in Australia. INdia's star power is unmatched.

What a weird thing to get hung up on?!
You know the world outside of India is very diverse right? I even have quite a lot of Indian colleagues too, some pretty decent people. Interestingly they learnt pretty early on that no one in our Glasgow office cares about cricket, other than the Ashes and even that's only for gambling reasons.

You might want to ask that to question yousrelf. You have no stake either in BGT or Ashes lol

Bigger: Ashes
Better: Pak vs Eng series are good entertainment.
Entertaining: Bavuma-Tendulkar trophy was also fun.

The ground reality in Australia is that they care much more about the Ashes than any other series. Of course for Indians all series matters much more than for any other country anyway. Majority of cricket fans live in India.

Australians care about all the losses. It is only England acting like all the other contests are warm up for Ashes.

I think Ashes will always be bigger then BGT for both nations however BGT has been more competitive in this decade like way more, Indians have been pretty good and have won few tests here and there on Aussie soil at Optus, Gabba or even some at the G. England the way their playing this ashes even after prep looks like they really are here for a moral victory, their record in Aus will probably be worse than ours by the end of series if they keep playing like this, but I would love to see them bounce back and show some spirit and lightn up this rivalry and create moments that lead the nation standing behind these 11. alas it's the ahses one of the greatest sporting rivalries after all

I think you are missing the point, Nobody said Australians don't care, They just care about the Ashes a lot more for many reasons, first they see English as their equal in culture and nation and then second the tradition.

Indians obviously make up majority of cricket fans in the world care about all series. They do have their own traditional rivalry with Pakistan but that has become too political for most cricket fans to enjoy as a cricket game only but still all matches get filled up quickly. They are looking to towards Australia and England more and more.

If this is how thing gonna work then

ASHES >>>>>BGT........... PERIOD.

ashes 2005 is bigger than whole BGT atm
Yes a side losing non Stop test matches is quality cricket for you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Pakistan's performance in Australia and England's performance in Australia are both equal and pathetic.

THE BGT>>>>>>>>>>> Tinny Ashes .

Showing the actual reality is not obsession. Pakistani are obsessed with india.

There are more thread here about India than Pakistan . #Fact

Again.... Can you talk about leaking obsession of Pakistan here??

Fan rivalry is higher for Ashes ofcourse. But player rivalry is slightly more in BGT.

AUS-ENG Test Series competitiveness going on the same route that AUS-WI test rivalry went in late 1990s

One become too good for the other with obvious skill gap between them tending to be visibly more wide

Though ENG's revenue &resources might act as a solace unlike WI.

Australia should simply limit the home tests VS England to 3, play the other 2 with Bangladesh and call it 'The BASHES' !

:kp

Some (not all) Indian patrons on this forum are doing to this platform what they have already done to movie reviews on the web. They give Bollywood movies a high ranking regardless of their mediocrity.

Even if a Hollywood movie stars a Bollywood actor, the Hollywood movie gets a very high ranking by the Indians, by default

Objectivity is not a forte of Indian reviewers, be it movies or cricket

What is your criteria of cricket quality?.

Unironically these should not be five-test series. Make it a three-test shootout. There's no point watching the same thing over and over again for nearly two months. Get it over with ( a comment From Australia forum)

Thrown in the towel, raise the white flag.I'm done( England supporter view)

:klopp :kp

First left BGT cross 50 years of history and then we will talk.
This is opinion of real England supporter when asked about ashes to reduce 3 match test series ( To Real Australia fan's. )

"Yeah, I've been saying this for years. I know it's history and all that, but, really, who cares. Aus used to play 5 test series against WI until it became obvious that there was just no point. The only reasons for continuing these as five test series are to pad the stats of generations of Australian cricketers, and to give their supporters a laugh at the expense of the old country. And they are both pretty lame reasons.

So no one care about history if current team simply surrendered in 5 match test series without any flight

:kp

Infact sometimes i wondered if the test was in Australia or England. So much England support in the 3rd test.

Yes, but they appeared in large numbers....still can recall reddy 100 celebration scene

Definitely not 40000 like barmy army. Australia plays every series with utmos seriousness. They never make statements like "this is a prep for Ashes" "We are preparing for it for 4 years" things like that. Ashes is massive mostly in England. Ofcourse Australian fans would love to throw choice words at every English guy, commentator, ex players, players after they lose. If you think INdians fill up stadium you would see the same in India. We hardly pack the stadium for Tests. Only if it is a smaller venue people even watch Test in India that too only on weekends.

For Aussies watching test is an event. They come in all kind of costumes. THey have fun righ thtrough the day.

9 pages for this topic? with no tangible way to arrive at an answer? not your best effort OP?

Serious question - can posters here keep a hand on heart and say how is this Ashes better than BGT? Only honest answer pls...no bias due to India etc

Ashes has more buzz definitely. This time barmy army fans genuinely believed England will take down Australia. Now they have to take the heat from Aussie fans.

According to some sore losers, wasn't England's previous Test series against India good practise for them for the Ashes? Such wonderful performance by England in the Ashes so far after such good practise. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hussain and Atherton were
discussing about the worst ashes performances. This is right up with the worst.previously eng lost ashes twice in 10 and 11 days. Now this one is second worst with 11 days .If cummins and starc have bowled on yesterday, it should have been the worst.
