It was a mixed-bag and several Pakistani players didn't perform as expected at the World Cup.

But who was the player you were most disappointed with?

Imam should also be added to this poll. Yes he scored a hundred but that came in a dead rubber, however in the matches that mattered (prior to the Bangladesh contest), he was averaging under 30 with a SR of 68.

Not saying he was the worst player in the squad, but it was a flop show from him. As I had expected prior to the tournament, he was not ready to play in this WC.

Fakhar Zaman and Hassan Ali as there were high expectations from both of them and they performed pretty poorly.

Hasan Ali by far, He not only bowled badly he bowled rubbish.

Hasan...His garbage bowling caused us to lose momentum every team. When he was dropped we started winning

The names mentioned are pure trash anyways (Fakhar also). These guys performing would have been special.

I don’t know why Imam ul Haq’s name isn’t there. These wickets were tailor made for his batting style. Failed far more than he performed.

Had no choice but to vote for Hafeez as he was supposed to be in form but threw his wicket away after settling in at the crease every time. That’s shocking

Fakhar Zaman, Hafeez and Sarfraz’s captaincy.

I had lost hope in Hassan Ali even before the WC so he wasn’t really a disappointment.

3 times he was dismissed by a part time bowler. Whatta player,

Fakhar. I thought he might be in good form after scoring that hundred against England in the series, but he failed in the world cup.

Hassan Ali wasn't a disappointment as he had been Pakistan's worst fast bowler in ODIs since the beginning of 2018, and I had no expectation from him.

I guess I thought Hafeez might perform a bit better due to his form before the world cup in t20is against NZ and AUS, but he threw his wicket away at crucial stages in matches, especially against Australia.

imam is much better than fakhar. he is pakistan's best opener in odis whether we like it or not. can u think of any other openr pak should pick?

It was the seniors who let the team down. they were just selfish and wanted to get a farewell during the world cup and did not care about the team at all.

imad wasim was equally useless as fakhar and hasan ali if you take out his performance against afghanistan

he is a ood lower order batsman but he has to improve his bowling

Before the dead rubber, the runs scored by Fakhar and Imam were almost identical, but the former's strike rate was 20% better.

Imam's runs were soft and for all his "I'm automatic selection after averaging 55-56" talk, he was brought down to Earth and exposed in this WC. For this reason he gets my vote of disapproval on this poll.

Fakhar had a bad tournament but when in form he can single-handedly win matches for his team as he displayed in the CT, where he delivered clutch knocks in every contest he played.

Fakhar was the best batsman of the CT17 tournament. I have no problem with him being dropped as he will be 34 in the next WC, so not much room for improvement. However I doubt Imam will last as long as Fakhar, unless Pakistan cricket wants to accept a decade of medocrity like we have endured with Shoaib Malik.

Fakhar Zaman in my view was the BIGGEST disappointment.

So much was expected off him but he simply failed to show up or showed little signs of improvement.

no way in hell imam should be there... for me it was Hassan Ali and Fakhar zaman..
people forget that Imam was supposed to play the holding role. and to some extent he did.. got starts always but inexperience cost him to throw his wickets, i think he was unlucky vs WI and Aus, got out down the legside and vs SA ( that was 1 dammm good catch) but if you see, he never threw his wicket, maybe apart from afg/ind game... he put a price for his wicket... and given how bad fakhar was playing on the other side, he was always under pressure. games where Fakhar made decent starts, eg SA, Eng, imam played better

the other crapper was hassan ali... no skills... 0 team spirit no motivation to play for the team... abs useless

malik and haffez were alwyas going to fail ...

All were failures apart from Babar, Haris, Imad, Amir, Shaheen, and Wahab. Hussain didn't play so he doesn't count

His partnership of 72 runs with Babar was cruical against Afganistan but overall his tournament was a flop

Fakhar Zaman for me.

I had high hopes for him in the World Cup and expected that he would play at least 2 or 3 match-winning innings.

Hasan Ali. Thought someone with such an attitude like his would rediscover his best for a big tournament but he was extremely disappointing

Fakhar. He did well in the CT and scored that amazing ton vs England just before WC. Pakistan needed him to fire a couple of times at least, but he failed to kick on

The openers for me.
I had high hopes from Imam grinding it out in tough situations and giving us good starts, albeit slow ones but he didnt seem as focused and diligent as PP had come to associate with him(bar the innings in the dead rubber) and Fakhar seemed total shambles and a mere shadow of his former 2 year old self. His technical deficiencies were even more highlighted and this was a huge disappointment since their performances had been better in the matches leading upto the tournament.

Hassan could have been a dissapointment but i had already made peace with the fact that he would be one of the worst pacers around given his recent performances so didnt come as a surprise.

I was hoping Fakhar and Hasan Ali would deliver in the WC but they failed in a lot of matches, Fakhar seems to love playing against India, probably one batsman they would fear if we played regularly since I can imagine him hitting a couple of tons against them. Sarfraz with the bat was uninspiring, easily one of the worst role models you can have as captain, I'd be embarrassed to play under him since he likes to hide down the batting lineup and promote others in front of him.

Imam was a dud? really

82 run partnership with Fakhar vs Eng .. got out to an excellent catch for 44
50 / 80 runs partnership with babar and haffez .. got out down the legside (unlucky i think) for 53
India , NZ and WI, had crap games
Opening Partnership of 81 vs SA... got out to an excellent catch again for 44
72 run partnreship with babar.... got out for 36... only bad shot i think in the whole tournament he played was this and india one

100 vs bangladesh..

so plz explain how was he a dud?
scores of 100, 53, 44,44, 35, ----- 5 okiesh scores ... yes he didnt go on to make big score apart from 1 but then it was his first worldcup and the guy has only played 30 odd odis.. so seriously .. give him some slack

Hassan Ali. We had gotten the timing perfect with Hassan Ali in terms of providing him with enough international experience so that he is primed to shine at the World Cup. He was also physically fit but his form deserted him badly.

Close second would be Fakhar who was almost a complete no-show. A couple of good starts from him has him edging out Hassan Ali.

The rest of the culprits weren't disappointments as no one had any expectations from them.

Fakhar Zaman was a massive disappointment. I thought he'd be our top 2 batsmen throughout the tournament but you could argue even Hafeez did better than he did and Hafeez was probably equally bad or worse in most people's opinion!

Never really rated Hassan Ali that highly personally, Considered him to be a good bowler but not great. Even when he was doing well in 16/17 I said he's just having a purple patch and he needs to improve a lot and we've seen since the beginning of 2018 that he has struggled. He's walking on thin ice now really and Pakistan's fast bowling prowess seem to be improving with a few names not in the squad currently waiting for their opportunity.

Knew well before the tournament Hasan will bowl trash.

His purple patch is over, and with his height, he doesn't have a lot of options now. Can't move the ball either .

Fakhar had a very underwhelming tournament.

He looked good against west indies until the ball hit his helmet then wicket (unlucky).
He had good starts against England and South Africa which helped us set big totals and win the matches.
Against India he got out at the wrong time after scoring 60 odd.

If im not mistaken the 3-4 matches where he was set which are the matches mentioned above he got out to spinners so its something he needs to work on. His dismissal against South Africa was very disappointing.

He is still quality i believe but he really needs to step it up.

Hasan Ali was disappointing also in the sense that just two years ago, he had a dream tournament. But he has been on a downward spiral since then so it’s not as surprising as Fakhar.

Its a tough one cause you expect certain players to perform poorly such as Hafeez and Malik, you could also make a case for Asif but lack of playing definitely rules out and Fakhar Zaman form leading up the tournament was evidence enough for him to perform poorly in the tournament but the biggest surprise for me was Hasan Ali despite his heroics in CT'17. What a massive drop of form that was from him. I'll be surprised if he performs in Pakistan colours anytime soon.

Hafeez was disappointing, as expected at least a couple of big 150s, and 4-5 half centuries from him with the bat out of 10 innings given his prolific record as a batsman in World Cups and other ICC tournaments for Pakistan. Oh well maybe he will redeem himself and show his class as a batsman in the next World Cup.

Asif Ali. I expected much more from this so called big hitter of ours.

I don't understand why so many people voted for Hasan Ali. I dont see him as a dissapointment because he was awful for last 2 years

Hasan Ali. He was so bad he got dropped and when he was we actually performed well. Fakhar was poor but with his limited shot range it’s not a surprise he was exposed eventually.

why u lot ******** over hassan ali. at least he improved in batting department. rest of the jokers can't even clear the 30 yard cirlce. Hafeez, Malik and sarfraz were the cause of our early exit.
