Had no choice but to vote for Hafeez as he was supposed to be in form but threw his wicket away after settling in at the crease every time. That’s shocking
Imam should also be added to this poll. Yes he scored a hundred but that came in a dead rubber, however in the matches that mattered (prior to the Bangladesh contest), he was averaging under 30 with a SR of 68.
Not saying he was the worst player in the squad, but it was a flop show from him. As I had expected prior to the tournament, he was not ready to play in this WC.
imam is much better than fakhar. he is pakistan's best opener in odis whether we like it or not. can u think of any other openr pak should pick?
Before the dead rubber, the runs scored by Fakhar and Imam were almost identical, but the former's strike rate was 20% better.
Imam's runs were soft and for all his "I'm automatic selection after averaging 55-56" talk, he was brought down to Earth and exposed in this WC. For this reason he gets my vote of disapproval on this poll.
Fakhar had a bad tournament but when in form he can single-handedly win matches for his team as he displayed in the CT, where he delivered clutch knocks in every contest he played.
Fakhar was the best batsman of the CT17 tournament. I have no problem with him being dropped as he will be 34 in the next WC, so not much room for improvement. However I doubt Imam will last as long as Fakhar, unless Pakistan cricket wants to accept a decade of medocrity like we have endured with Shoaib Malik.
His partnership of 72 runs with Babar was cruical against Afganistan but overall his tournament was a flop
