Markham can be captain too. He was captain of U-19 side.

I think Faf will retire from ODIs and probably tests after the next home summer. He said the T20 World Cup will be his last games for South Africa so no point of wasting a year on him when he has no intention of playing the next WC.

He can go down T-20 route like ABD. I don't think he is needed by SA after 2020.

Yes that is fair. He will be past his best then. He has served South Africa well so no issues with him getting some quick pay checks.

Van der Dussen seems like a great choice as a middle-order batsman may never have to worry too much about form.

Makram has been a huge disappointment after such a great start.

Highly unlikely but I would take a punt with de Kock. I feel the responsibility of leadership will bring the best out of him. He is a brilliant player and will be able to impose himself better when he is leading a young team. Get Amla, Faf, Duminy, Tahir and Steyn out of the system and replace them with fresh faces.

Don't see South Africa going with WK as captain. Opening the batting and being captain in 2 out of 3 formats is difficult work.

Faf is still good enough for ODIs. But if he steps down, Quinton should get a chance. Markram captained the SA u19s to WC victory in 2014 so he has the experience.

De Kock seems to be a decent job. South Africa don't look as flat as they did in the WC. There has been talk of him getting more chances to captain.

I remember SA went for Graeme Smith as captain when he was young. It turned out to be a good decision.
