Pakistan's national coach, Micky Arthur, has wished to see 2 more players come out of Pakistan's premier t20 tournament, the PSL, and play for the national side.

Who do you think can be those 2 guys?

For me, Hussain Talat is one. Not sure about the second one.

Hussain Talat would be an obvious choice. The second one, I really hope is Sahibzada Farhan. We really need some modifications and changes in our batting department, especially opening, and especially after Sharjeel's ban. The bowling department looks strong and doesn't need much changes until maybe after WC 2019 when you can add Shaheen who'll hopefully have more experience by then, because right now we have Amir, Hasan, Junaid, Rumaan, Shinwari, and not too mention all rounder pacers in Fahim Ashraf, Amir Yamin, and hopefully Talat if he makes it to the national team.

I feel in next games at sharjah it will be:

Hussain tallat (definitely)
Sahibzada Farhan (looked good apart from facing tahir)
Sohail Akhtar (same as farhan)
Ibtisam ( top talent, great action, decent control, can bat also BUT he won't replace Shaddy...yet)

Just don't understand why our batsmen are so weak against spin. Even non Asian teams are better now

Bro the thread is about standout players. Not stand out of team players.

They have been stand out performers in PSL .not necessarily this year though.
Kamran and Umar highest scorers of PSL.Anwali Ali the best Alrounder>
Asad the solidifier...And Khurram and Rahat will show it.

Sahibzada is more of a ODI rather than T20 player as he takes a bit of time to set in, although he regularly rotates the strike and then can accelerate too later on. I just don't want him lost in his actual format due to being judged in T20s.

Quetta must give decent chance at number 3 or number 4 to Saud Shakeel.

Given he is given 3-4 matches on the trott at this batting position he would certainly be in line for Odi debut.

It’s hightime that Saif Badar flourishes under Malik & Moody.

Ellipsism mak36 please update if you have some time as I have missed PSL uptil now.

problem is not all young players are not getting chance to even play so how can they compete with players who are playing? For example by all accounts Saad Ali is a lot better batsman than Hussain Talat but Quetta is not playing Saad Ali in PSL3 so how can he compete with Hussain Talat? The field is not even so its not right criteria

Saad Ali is not a t20 batsmen.

Would love to see Hussain Talat & Farhan are those players that are unearthed. But with Misbah "affection" towards Asif Ali, we're likely to see only Hussain. Maybe Badar if he comes up the order, another player maybe bringing back Raza Hasan if he has a good tournament.

we also have to look at what National team needs.

That's why Talat is a dead certainty IMO, you can count the batsmen in Pakistan who can hit big against pace on one hand, and Talat is more certainly one of them, not to mention he appears to have the brain to be a finisher which we also lack.

After that Id say we need an offspinner or another opener. I dont see any offspinner around. As an opener I hope it's farhan but he needs to get a game first.

He did mention that a youngsta beauty caught his eye the other day :afridi

Rameez has answered Mickey’s question.

Mohammed Nawaz is going to be the breakout star of this years PSL according to rameez.:asif

I dunno if he knows but Nawaz was sort of the breakout star of the first edition.

It's mostly the known guys performing tbh. Especially batting wise.

But Talat looks good. Hopefully will get a shot in LOI now.

Bowling's nothing's changed, the fight for the third pacer spot continues to be between Shinwari, Junaid, Raees and Fahim to an extent. And while Amir isn't the greatest, he still seems to be better than the rest, particularly in the shortest format.

Think we have enough to choose from at the moment regardless, it's about discovering which of the players from our roster is the best fit. There aren't many spaces left in our team, a lot of guys are holding down their spot these days. Third pacer, all rounder, one or two specialist batting slots (depending on whether just Hafeez is gone, or both him and Malik. And even then Malik makes it pretty easily in T20s). So three or four spots really. And Talat's probably an obvious pick now, so really only two spots up in doubt.

Unfortunately it seems no new face has impressed so far unlike last time when shadaba and hassan made big impressions.

As long as Arthur is using this as a gauge for limited overs, and that too coupled with list A performances, then I'm ok with it but the PSL should not be used as the only measure of success, otherwise a large chunk of very good domestic players will never see a Pakistani shirt.

Hussain Talat and Shaheen Shaheen Afridi

Other possible players
Zafar Gohar (Proper Finger Spinner, that one delivery to Sammy is good enough to show his class), Umaid Asif (since we dont have right hand fast bowler, he can be considered as well) and Ibtisham (Shadab replacement)

Why do you want shadab's replacement?

Hussain Talat is definitely one.

I think Asif Ali will earn a shot.

Zafar should have gotten more games especially given how Shadab was injured. He should be in the squad regardless I believe especially Tests in the UAE.

Hussain Talat should be select for sure. Not confident about his bowling but can be worked on.

Asif Ali can be tried in T20s only

Agha Salman might not break into ODI playing XI but not bad having him in the squad considering Hafeez is not going to bowl anymore.

Shaheen Shaheen Afridi should also be included in squad and tried in some dead rubbers for the start.

No one really stood out this year, except maybe Shaheen Shah Afridi. Going back to Kamran Akmal would be ten steps backwards.

I do understand the hype surrounding Agha Salman. I do not see what he adds to the team.

Seems like a player in the mould of Saad Nasim who has a good head on his shoulders but not enough talent to take on the top pacers in the world. He was visibly struggling against some quick deliveries by some pretty substandard pacers.

Another minnow bashes does not bring anything new to the team. We have plenty of those already. Similarly, Asif Ali is old and technically too flawed to play at the top level. Will be exposed in international cricket.

The two standout talents are Talat and Shaheen. They have interesting potential.

We need a fresh face in the middle-order and need to move on from trash like Junaid. Shaheen looks like the ideal candidate for the third seamer role. Both said players should be in our next LOI squads, with Hafeez and Junaid making way.
