Who will win the Quarter-Final between France and Uruguay?

This is a tough one.

France is a team with loads of potential and ability, easily the most talented squad in the tournament IMO. But they have flattered to deceive at times with strange defensive tactics. However, in the likes of Pogba and Mbappe, they have players who can decide games on their own.

Uruguay are a well-oiled and battle-hardened unit. Their defence will be much more difficult for France to breach than Argentina's. They have Cavani and Suarez, two deadly strikers who can make the most of limited opportunities. They know how to get the best out of their players, as a team.

Should be a good game. France should win but it's very close.

I can't see them losing against Uruguay, but the strikers must know Uruguay will defend, defend and defend and try to counter-attack.

I won't be so sure yet, if Cavani is fit. Suarez & Cavani are the deadliest pair in International soccer, and they'll trouble this French back line. However, they are 31, might struggle to keep pace with this French team and run out of steam by the hour mark.

Difference with Argentina is, Uruguay's defense led by Godin & Jiminez, covered by Torreira won't be like Mascherano & Ottamendi - if they scores first, it'll be tough to break them. But, today Portugal dominated possession and midfield - if France takes the lead, it'll be a different ball game.

That and the fact that Mbappe won't have the kind of space he had yday with the low block that uruguay play. In such a game pogbas passing and through balls would be critical to unlock that back line.

Godin has been the best defender in the world cup so far. Uruguay also have two genuine goal scorers up front and are decent all over the park.

If they can contain Mbappe and score first, they could cause an upset against a special French team.

My prediction. 1-1 with Uruguay winning on penalties.

Pogba and Mbappe were immense vs Argentina. This is like a (good) PSG vs Atletico match. Hard to call but gotta go with France as they're the team with more goals in them and have the ability to stretch teams.

Set pieces will be key in this match, and Uruguay will want to slow the game as much as possible.

A 2-1 to France, but I wouldn't be surprised if Uruguay score and end up shutting up shot cos they're capable of doing that.

a good game it seemed, was not able to watch it due to work, but caught the highlights on youtube via tsn tube channel, i do not know if anyone notice, but when you see the replay of hugo lloris amazing save (might just be the save of the tournament) in the background you see a Pakistan flag was so happy to see that lol
