Why the 'Shan Masood cannot play in the middle-order' argument by Mohammad Wasim does not fly

Why he is in the team is not because he is an outstanding t20 player, it's simply because we don't have a better option.
He has solid technique, plays the gap game to keep the scoreboard chipping and once set, can accelerate at a decent SR. We saw that yesterday. He shouldn't have been sent in today. We needed someone who could go big from the word go with 9 wickets in hand. Shan is never going to be that player.

A middle order of Iftikhar,Khushdil, Nawaz and Asif is pure suicide. The top order knows that and we often see them only coming in with 3-4 overs to go. With Masood in the lineup, it might actually make the openers go harder from overs 6 to 12 knowing there is someone who can hold up an end in case they get out cheaply. No one is ready to trust the Asia cup middle order to last for more than 3 overs.
