Sorry for the pun in the title but this is a serious thread and lets analyze Hassan in detail.
When Mohd Sami started and everyone was going gaga over him I was skeptical because he was short and skiddy customer and had a feeling that such fast bowlers even though do well in ODI's since batsmen attack them more but in tests batsman can sit back and wait for the eventual half volley and thus their threat reduces unless they are getting a lot of help from the conditions.
However I have hope for Hassan more then I had for Sami and thats not just because of his better bowling brain and control then Sami. One surprising thing that I have seen from Hassan is when he is bowling back of a length he more then not surprises the batsman with the extra lift he gets more often then not he is hitting the splice of the bat and also his bouncer is quite awkward and tough to play so I believe as long he can keep on getting this extra lift his lack of height will not stop him from achieving success in test cricket.
However in order to be a great test match bowler the most important skill a pacer needs to have is how well he can use the new ball until now due to no fault of his Hassan new ball skills have rarely been showcased he seems to have all the bases covered Good pace, movement of the seam late reverse, good bouncer, yorker, slower ball and most importantly good control if his new ball skills are as good as his other skills I see no reason that he will not take 300 test match wickets @ <28.
Thoughts?
