South Africa failed to make it to the finals of ICC events until 2024, where they met India and lost the match in a dramatic fashion. But they got another chance in WTC final 2025 where they are in a dominant position to make it count.

So the big question, will Saffers triumph against Aussies who are deemed to be a formidable force in the final make India the biggest chokers again in the realm of cricket. As the same Indian team has lost three finals against the formidable Aussies and that too in a emphatic fashion.

Also the commendable bit, Saffers made the WTC final really interesting unlike the last two WTC finals where one side surrendered unexpectedly

PS: This is no Jinx thread and hopefully the better team will clinch the trophy tomorrow
 
What even is the correlation between both the things ? Feels like a desperate attempt to somehow involve India in the conversation...seems like someone is obsessed with India and Indian players. Same poster created another thread after IPL final about how Virat won IPL after 18 years when some Pakistanis won in first season

Have you won any final against Australia or leave it what was the outcome of last 2 WTC finals? Doesn't India lost the last 2 WTC final embarrassingly?

Or just tell which team just get out of the decade of failure in finals and that too in a one sided fashion after dominating the whole tournaments...and what do you call a team which lose final in their own home in their own fashioned pitch? Answer it objectively and logically and you will find the correlation.
 
Fans of a team which hasnt even drawn a single test in Australia in decades are questioning other team's performance against Australia? Irony died a thousand deaths.
 
No correlation between these things brother.

A South African win is a great victory for them as a nation, and it doesn't affect the stature of other countries.

India is also a top test playing nation.

I think people with even a single brain cell will agree that reaching finals and losing is a million times better than not even drawing a single test in Australia for decades

I dont understand where this bravado is even coming from, for such troll threads to be effective, the person making these threads need to be fan of stronger countries. This is like fans of UAE laughing at England in the Ashes. Dude, UAE is still laughing stock compared to England in all formats. Same logic applies here, to troll others, your team has to do something first otherwise it backfires.

Hahah...but its better to not make it into the final, instead of getting crushed badly...Just ask Inter Milan fan how they felt about PSG mauling. Atleast Pakistan does fight in finals...and except 1999 hasn't surrendered in a final

You have been losing every single test in Australia for the last 20 years. No team has done that badly in Australia in history. So you should be the last one to make fun of team's performance against Australia. You shouldn't even be trolling Bangladesh.

In that cup , PAK also get eliminated by Ireland.

Also that was 18 years ago.

As I've said , PAK don't choke in finals because they get eliminated in World T20 group stage by USA, group stage in home Champions Trophy , finish bottom of WTC.

Good , sustainable method going forward.

Don't reach any KO's so you don't even have the opportunity to choke :rabada2

We have the talent but a heavily politicized board and the biggest manifestation of it is the recent dominance of Pak U19 against India U19 and even other big sides...making it to SF, final etc...its just the senior level where the blue eyed guys get featured

Have you forget who won back to back Last two ICC trophy?

Pakistan is only chockers left not because they didn't win the trophy but they lost against minnows team at the ICC events.

England isn’t neutral for India

Aus is more familiar with England than india

Pitches in England are similar to the ones in Aus than what we see in India where it turns

Bounce is higher in England. Obviously much more pronounced in Aus though.
 
India are the biggest chokers by default, irrespective of any factor.

Neither India nor South Africa are chokers.

The only true chokers are Pakistan and this is clearly a troll thread.
 
Nay. India is not the biggest choker. Saffers still hold that title atm.. Winning 1st ICC event since 1998 even though they had a great team in ICC events and are usually favorites to win most of the events, but end up on the losing side again and again.

I get a little chuckle remembering the times when it was the favourite hobby of Pakistani posters to parrot that India were without an ICC trophy win in the then last 10 years. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

A notorious Pakistani posters who has not been seen since then also claimed that Pakistan was a better team than India in the last 10 years based on that.​

The decade's moved to last 10 days now.

the taunt used to be Miandad got more WCs than SRT...

It all shushed down after 2011...

Another story that it took them a decade to come out of the DRS sadma...some still haven't recovered.... and now you have a new crop of :cobraand :bobs

It was about Inzamam having more WC's than Sachin. This despite Inzamam's fantabulous record of averaging 23 over 5 WC's, with an equally fantabuous SR of 69. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Anyway I wanna share my perspective.

Despite SA's win, I still view them as the biggest chokers. I don't think one single event where the pitch eased out for them is enough to convince me they'll turn their fortunes around in an odi and t20 wc outing.

India for me isnt really a choker. They choked in 2017, 2014, and 2016 100%. But in 2015 they were outplayed and outgunned by the best team in the tournament.

2015 Aus is damn near unbeatable for any team playing in 2015 era in odi especially in their own den. 2019 was unlucky due to their test match nonsense pitch they had to play on.

2023 was Papa Head galore. In 2022 and 2021 they were met with injuries and a non existent bowling lineup(2022)

Pakistan isnt really a choker, you cant be a choker if you're rubbish as a team.

I think the biggest choker atm is New Zealand. 2015, 2019, 2021 and 2025 was in their hands and they botched it. They managed to best india in 2021 wtc but that's due to India being historically poor in England.

My money is on New Zealand being the biggest atm. What do you think? @Hitman @Nikhil_cric @jeeteshssaxena

The argument given for NZ is that they punch far above their weight , just by reaching the KO stages .

Personally don't buy this argument but it seems to be well accepted by most fans.

I still think SA are the biggest chokers . RizwanT20 champ made a thread on W/L ratio in ICC KO's and it looked somewhat like this

There has been only one choke in last two years and that is sa 24.

27 from 28 balls with wkts in hand in a final is as big a choke as it gets.

I wont count test matches in it because it is possible to still win a test matches even after choking a session or an inning. But if there was a team who can still loose wtc final from this position it ll be pak or sa for sure.

1) India
2) SA
3) NZ
4) Aus

On paper and form Australia was far weaker then NZ but NZ bowlers literally folded against them like they always do? Even during the chase despite losing by 5 runs from the get go it always seemed like an uphill battle, aka NZ was just never in control of the chase.

Pakistan and NZ have a mental issue against them. Even in 1999 it just seemed like they threw in the towel.

My guess is that for NZ, Since aus and NZ are brothers, Aus remains competitive but NZ doesn't associate their competitiveness in cricket. They act too relaxed against them not realising their situation.

And for Pakistan my guess is their just scared but they also admire aus which is why they have an inferiority complex. For example babar stated Steve smith is his favourite player. Pakistani bowlers freqently compare themsleves and aspire to be Brett lee, mcgrath etc.

2021 was not that one sided. You have to look at the conditions as well. Everybody was winning while chasing in Dubai .

Do you remember how one sided OZ vs ENG was when Australia batted first and looked extremely timid?

2015 was completely one sided.

But NZ were thrashing teams only when they were playing at home .

Until the finals, they didn't play a single match in Australia and they got exposed .

Sachin top scored in 2003 and 2007. Wasn't possible to beat classic aus for any team. Sachin messed up a bit in the final but it wpuldnt have mattered. Score was impossible to chase for anyone.

He's a far far > Any Pakistani batter in history.

Classic Aus is > any odi team in history. Best wk batter of all time, top 3 no 3 batters of all time, top 10 greatest openers of all time, Best middle order of all time. Best bowling unit of all time led by the best legspinner(warne) × best pacer(mcgrath)

Sachin alone cant really beat that, even viv wouldnt be able to if he had to carry it alone.

I still like inzimam though, Gun middle order batsmen.

Yeah bro- Ind is the biggest chokers of all time. And Pak is a world beating elite team. Hope the PCT doesn't think this way. If they do- they are doomed for a long time..
