May be too early. SA can still draw the series. Hope SL doesn't play for draw. They should go for win. SA has multiple scars against them. You gotta give credit to SL spinners. THey have a wood over SA.

I think SA will be back to business in 2nd test.
We should remember it took an inning of GOAT calibre to beat SA in their backyard. So, it is still not that easy. This is still the best bet for SL as it is a 2- test series and with 1-0 lead, they should certainly chance their way to a test series victory.

I hope so. We are told how weak Sri Lanka are yet they won't lose a series to SA whilst we were beaten black and blue.

I am constantly bother about your nitpicking and false accusation about pak fans .why would a person in right mind will say sl is weak in test when they have whitewash us at home .
If they are "few" in pp don.t make it "we" .More than 90 % our fans wants SL do well.

There is a thread which has been bumped saying are Sri Lanka the new West Indies and I have seen plenty of posters saying Sri Lanka are weak. There is another thread saying "do runs against Sri Lanka count"?
I never said our fans don't want Sri Lanka to do well.

Curent SL test side is better than us but it means nothing pak is terrible side .SL have been on decline and single test don.t prove they are top side

They are competitive at home and struggle away like most teams . So how does that make them rubbish? Even their best teams have been beaten black and blue away from home.
Pakistan are not a good test side imo. Babar is the only decent batter. Our bowling is inconsistent and Yasir is a lone wolf in the spin department.

I mean SL got whitewashed by freaking England at home, so any team can win matches anywhere now if they know their basics and get lucky.

I have not sad they are rubbish side but they are niether quality side .kusal herioc are rare in cricket sa was dominating the test till four day.Sa will come harder in next test and will beat them easily
And the same English team was destroyed by WI. And WI got blanked in India. India lost 1-4 to England. Who says test cricket is dying? We are slowly moving back to the golden old days. The biggest reason are the pitches that are a bit bowling friendly.

Parrera had to single handedly drag Sri Lanka to a win, it is unlikely that can happen again. But a drawn series, in south africa, by such a weak side is remarkable enough.

It wasn't the case even 3 years ago. Now that pitches are bowling friendly, any home team can get the pitch to backfire at least once every series if the opposition plays well. I don't understand why all boards chose to make pitches flat from 2005-2015. Test cricket can't survive without good bowling.

Most certainly not if you know the track record of Srilanka in Australia. They are yet to win a single test there. SL has played 12 tests lost 11 tests 1 drawn. Most of them were massive defeats like innings defeats. Pakistan has lost 12 tests in a row in Australia. Beating SA in SA is realistic for any team as it is always a low scoring game there. India got atleast 2 or 3 chances to nail a series there.

Your opinion, if they manage to win this match it would be far more impressive.
No blemishes outside the SA batting line up being really weak even at their best, still this SA team still managed to win series in Aus and NZ AND beat India in SA.
India dropped a game to a weak Aus team and they were missing their 2 best batsmen + they didn't have a win anywhere as special as the one SL had in the first Test which got the entire cricket world buzzing.

Pretty sure this is the same SA team which has won series in Aus and NZ.
SL have toured us quite often so I know how good their batsmen are on their day.

This is certainly not the SA that beat India. They had ABDV, Mone Morkel, Fully fit Vernon. Definitely from a shock perspective this would probably be the most shocking overseas win. India winning in SA is not a shock even if India beats this SA side in SA. India is fully capable of whitewashing SA in SA if they face this team.

I agree, also the fact that they did this with bunch of new comers whereas IND were basically at its peak with legendary batsman in Pujara and Kholi.
I also do not believe this is a watered down RSA its more or less same team which beat BD/IND/Pak combined for a whopping 8-1 in RSA not so long ago.

Going to be tough. In the balance, should be close again.
If lanka wins this, and I hope they win, then it will be the biggest test series victory of last 2-3 decades. I can't recall a team with such little experience beating a team like SA in their home. This series victory is an upset of epic proportion, which no one ever expected.

One of the biggest upsets ever in history of the game and well deserved victory and plaudits for SL. A young team who fought hard and never gave in.

WOW !! Well Done SL. You truly deserved it. I m really surprised with this result though. Who would hv thought that SAF, after beating both India and Pakistan recently, would get whitewashed by another asian team? Proud Moment for all SL fans. Have a blast. 
Srilanka always somehow have done better against South Africa. Their record against them is impressive compared to India and Pakistan over the history! (They won even world cup match against SA in Australia 1992 against a very tough side!)

A resurgent Sri Lanka is a joy to watch.
Sri Lanka's SA win also put in perspective Sarfaraz captaincy. SA were there to be taken but between Inzi, Sarfraz and Mickey, Pakistan completely messed it up.
One more reason all need to go.

What's the best thing about SL win was that they had their weakest team for sometime. SA were also not as strong as they were historically however SL were even weaker. Yet they conquered all odds and won the series.
Comparing it to India who had most of their players in their prime age and still lost, SL truly showed how big an opportunity was lost by Kohli and Co.
One can argue about AB being the difference but if you lose a series due to 1 player who retired after few months while almost everyone in your own team were at their peak age, you have only yourself to blame.
SL winning in SA was truly the most incredible and biggest test result for any sub continent side so far.
Pakistan Vs WI series draw and India winning Australia are second and third best.

PP disrespects Sri Lanka too much. Even in their weakest era , they have won a series in South Africa. They are difficult to beat at home in tests and decent in T20s. Their main struggles have been in ODIs and that has been due to ridiculous selections.
