For us oldies, the memories of WC92 was something to cherish but that was a different format but I am wondering if the younger generation will remember Sunday as the most memorable day of their lives? The retirement of two of our legendary players and a first ever series win in the Windies?

Can't compare victory at a world event with a test series victory against 8th ranked minnow. Yes it was an exciting match and we all displayed pure joy on that Yasir wicket but I don't think both achievements are comparable.

I'm an oldie, but I just don't rate ODI cricket as that important. After all, the opponent in the 1992 Final was England, which had just lost to Zimbabwe!

The pinnacle of Pakistan's cricket history was the 1-1 Test series draw in the West Indies in 1987-88.

I would compare the first test series victory in Caribbean to the First Test series Victory in India. That thriller in Bangalore. was equally as exciting.

My favorite memory as a fan was probably when we beat WI in WC Quarterfinal in 2011. It was so hype watching Hafeez and Ajmal going off. That tournament was awesome.

If we win CT, that will definitely be my new fav. memory!

This victory is notable more for the retirement of Misbah and YK than beating the Windies, so I'll go with the World Cup victory.

However, having watched 25 years of Pakistan cricket between that world cup victory and today and having suffered through all of the dark times I can say with complete certainty that this was definitely more emotional.

:salute

WT20 2009 final victory was also one of the most memorable in recent history.

Nothing comes close to a World Cup victory. Just imagine the time when Pakistan won the T20 World Cup, the whole Nation was rejoicing and celebrating together.

No Test Series victory can ever induce those celebrations and collective happiness.

For me in terms of Test cricket, nothing will top the zenith the test side had reached in early 1999, during the test tour of India and the following Asian Test Championship. What a year 1999 was until the fateful day of the World Cup Final at Lords. I don't think Pakistan have ever reached those heights again.

Disclaimer: I have faint memories of the 92 World Cup, I remember the important moments, I was seven then. I do remember being the biggest fan of Wasim Akram, from the first moment I saw him bowl. He was having an average tournament but I stuck with him as my favorite player and boy did he deliver in the final.

But I wasn't an avid fan of cricket back then and not until the 1996 World Cup was I a cricket addict in the truest sense, but 1996-99 were some great years for me as a fan of Pakistan cricket, talent was pouring out of Pakistan, and the cricket being played at times was just amazing. People who after sow starts complain that we are stuck in the 90's, clearly they never saw Anwar and Sohail open in the 90's and then later Anwar and Afridi or Ijaz and Afridi ripping India to shreds at the Gaddafi. Mid to late 90's Pakistan cricket was at it's imperious best never seen since. 100 in the last 10 overs was expected and anything short was a disappointment. Even when defending targets ike 150-160 you never lost hope, because Wasim and Waqar could take out any batting line up on their whims.

I never saw 87-88 Test team so I can't comment on how good they were, but the Pakistan team of the mid to late 90's wasn't just good 1-11, it was full of world class match winners who could all walk into any team in the world and improve it.

I'd rate the 2009 T20 win over this test series win. In fact no test series win comes close to a WC win. Maybe if we beat India 3-0 in India then perhaps.

1997 world series victory was very memorable.

The manner in which this test match victory came was memorable but we should have beaten this c side westindies anyway.

For me WT20 victory was sweeter. Pak winning this series against Windies was expected.

The 1996 WC brings back painful memories for me but I marvel when I look back at Saeed Anwar and Aamer Sohail's opening partnership in Bangalore in the QF.

After 10 overs we were 84-0, and then 113-2 after 15 overs. We can't match that pace in T20s today !

However I'd say the 1980s side was mentally tougher whereas the 90s side bottled two winnable World Cups in 1996 and 1999 and should've achieved far more than it actually did.

Our home Test record in the mid to late 1990s was deplorable and not befitting a side with that much talent.

It was brilliant but can't compare to 1992 or even 2009.

In truth we were mediocre to struggle to beat such an inexperienced opponent.

To me it was the desire to win and the fact that this was the last time we will see both of these in action which made it special

I think after the moment of ecstasy we need to settle down and realise this is the worst West Indies team ever

The moment was magically but overall it was nothing special in terms of results

Whatever anyone says a WC victory is the most important thing in any sport minus Olympic sports.. Whoever said otherwise is just pretending to be a purist or elitist nothing comes close to a WC win..

It brings painful memory to me also in the sense I had to sit on top of an almirah during Pakistan's innings.. When Aamir Sohail was going ham I climbed the top of almirah as a kid I used to do that and then suddenly first wicket fell and I was instructed by my parents I can't come down till we win lol

Winning a test series in WI good achievement , but when i see the WI players and their ranking now, it doesnt turn me on. Thus comparing this victory with 1992 WC is an epic fail in my opinion.

It was important win yes, long overdue but as an outsider even Pakistan lifting Carlton and United series in 1996 was something remarkable(also against Windies in the final) and more memorable than this, obviously for generation that started watching in this decade it could be opposite.

We're acting like we beat Australia or South Africa in their home. That would be the equivalent of winning a World Cup just because of how alien those conditions are for our batsmen and bowlers.

Even though this was a weak WI team, they punched above their weight and really stretched Pakistan very hard. Beating the Windies in their conditions is no easy feat, the pitches in this series were absolute graveyard for the pacers and even the spin and bounce for Yasir Shah was slow. You can say Pakistan earned this series win and was a well deserved send off for Misbah and Younis.

No comparison at all. Beating an 8th ranked team 2-1 away from home does not compare to winning the World Cup, just because it went to the wire and had a very tense finish. If that is the case, then perhaps the 2012 Asia Cup final win should also be more memorable than the World Cup triumph.

People move on quickly from Test series wins. This will be forgotten within a few weeks and perhaps remembered only for Younis and Misbah's farewell, but we will not stop talking about the 1992 World Cup unless we win another win. That is why people haven't forgotten it for 25 years, while India have moved on from the 1983 triumph because they have 2011 to cherish, even though 1983 was a much bigger accomplishment.

WC 1992 by a fair margin. A series win over current WI team is absolutely nothing to be proud of. I will take a series draw in England over it although even that doesn't come close to 92 WC victory.

I really enjoyed 2009 world t20 victory and after that match against Australia in world cup 2011 those two are my favorite victories! I think test series win is good but nothing comes close to world cup final

WC victory all the way. Even T20 win in 2009 thumps this.

If Windies was ranked no.1 and we defeated them we could talk. But this was a victory against a very inexperienced side. We should have won 3-0.

WC final win was always a bigger an achievement win then winning a test series in W.I right now.

Maybe if we had won a test series in W.I in the 80s or early 90s then it might be tougher to choose between two.
