Babar Azam speaking to the media

"I thank the Almighty as I felt very good after scoring my debut 100"

"I took a little bit of time earlier on and rotated strike and I was rewarded for that by the Almighty"

"I had heard of the value ['maza'] of a 100 in Test cricket from the seniors and that only when you make that hundred do you understand what its all about"

"In UAE wickets are slow and you cannot always play the shots you want to so you have to play slightly differently from the way you normally do"

"Sometimes you cannot play the way you want to as you cannot hit the shots that you would like to play so you have to have patience"

"As Azhar Bhai said, the ball is coming very slowly and the spinner is getting turn also"

"We will put in a good fight as our bowlers are confident, and we will get them out quickly"

"There was no such pressure on me [to score 100]; It wasnt the case that I was under pressure and was thinking too much about it"

"I dont worry about what number I bat on, I go by whatever the target or plan is given to me by the team"

"I would apply myself on whichever position I was asked to bat on"

"I give my 100% at whatever position the team asks me to bat on"

"You get confidence when you score more runs and your confidence gets higher when you score a Test 100"

"I have gained a lot of confidence with this Test hundred"

"We had planned in the morning to extend the partnership to as long as possible"

"We were backing-up each other so that if we played a bad shot, the other would support him"

"I was out at 99 before unfortunately but you get a feeling of 'release' after a 100 and also gain confidence"

"You gain in confidence when you score a hundred against a good team"

"At that time [near run-out], when I played shot, Haris Sohail said YES then immediately said NO; He was saying that if the ball had gone past [fielder], he would have taken the run; I said that first you said YES..."

"Totally different, as Nathan Lyon was one of the world's best off-spinner so you gain a lot of confidence after playing against him"

"He was a different spinner and these 2 [New Zealand's Ish Sodi and Ajaz Patel] are different types of spinners"

"Thankfully there was no difficulty in playing any of these spinners but then they werent easy to play; I am not saying that they were easy bowlers to play against"

"They were not giving you easy balls; you had to wait for the bad ball or improvise [bana na parta tha]"

"In international cricket nothing is easy as you have to take your time and play"

Good for him that he crossed the 99 hurdle!

This is true, same can be said for Haris. When you don't have much time under your belt in the middle or crossed that 3 figure mark you're not going to be so assured, with experience comes more confidence and that can improve intent as well.

lol you made Indians angry on twitter with those stats.

He should be moved up the order. Glad to see him come good in tests finally.

The myth that Babar is a soft player and can't perform under pressure will be debunked pretty soon.
