Anybody see him bowling earlier today?

He's not played any first class cricket and only played a few domestic T20 matches. Only 19 years old and started his IPL career bowling to Dilshan and Gayle.

Interesting watching him, bowling big inswingers from really wide of the crease. Difficult to gauge just how good he was as the ball was doing quite a bit when he bowled, but he looked quite decent.

Pace was only medium pace though.

Didnt really look impressive. With that kind of a handicapped technique its hard to survive in professional cricket.

Looks pretty poor tbh.

Didn't swing it much, it was just his angle of delivery which surprised the batsmen. His 2 lbw's really should have been clipped for runs on the leg side.

With that action he's got more of a chance bowling too short. When he did he got pummelled, yet batsmen were surprised when he did pitch it up and got in a muddle.

125-30 pace with a unsual action. looked to be putting a lot of strain on his back when bowling

Meh. He was able to extract bounce today, but IMO it's just novelty value. I think he'll be worked out in a few games.

No need to insult him or India, some fans will stoop too low sometimes.

Considering we've had Sohail Tanvir and Tanvir Ahmed lately, we shouldn't be the ones throwing stones.

What a day for a 19 yr old. Making your debut in front of 30-40000 people and bowling to Gayle and Kohli..looked nervous at the start but came back well.

Those dissing him, every domestic bowler doesn't have to be world class. Jaspreet has issues with his run up and action, he may or may not play for long but belittle his success?

^ well the thread title did not suggest anything rlegarding ipl. Pakistan cricketers are banned in ipl and there is no reason for that , and no pakistani cricket player was picked when few of them were invited in the auction. Geo super shows it in pakistan as there are business interests but as a pakistan cricket fan I despise the league which banned and humiliated pakistan players. Pakistan fans following ipl are large hearted indeed :afridi

No, he hasn't been given any first-class matches.

On your second point, the reason why I watch IPL is because it is the only cricket available that I can watch and although I don't desire watching T20 cricket, it is the only option available on TV. In addition, the reason why Pakistan players were banned from the IPL is because Pakistan won't take responsibility for some of their civilians causing the Mumbai attacks of 2008 and so India, with IPL as their pride, has decided not to let Pakistan players participate until the Pakistan government owns up to some of their people causing the incident. Although the Indian government may have not done the right thing by blaming it on all Pakistanis, the fact is that it is their own tournament and they can whatever they like as long as the BCCI places money into the hands of the ECB and CA.

Was he picked out by Tendulkar himself or what ?? that is what i heard or read somewhere

^^ Oh nothing really tbh..
That reply was just in case he was being a genuine nut case :)

One more thread wasted like Bhawesnar Kumar LOL

I can't believe MI think tanks still don't send Polly up the order, IDIOTIC Think tank will drown this team again. I hope J wright, Kumble and Punter see this problem!

Jasprit was getting lot of stick when he was giving away lots of runs to Kohli but he struck back and put MI in decent position! But Batsmen ruined it!

I think his elbow can do hyperextension like Akhtar could.

Later, it was known that the right-arm paceman was signed by Mumbai just before one week to the start of IPL. The main man behind Bumrah's entry to IPL was Mumbai coach John Wright, who had watched the youngster during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.
"John Wright had come to watch one of our T20 matches and he watched me bowl in two games. He didn't talk to me or hinted anything. After he went, I got a call asking if I was interested in signing a contract with the Mumbai Indians," Bumrah told IPL's website.
The Trophy which Gujarat won, saw Bumrah winning the Man-of-the-match award in the final against Punjab. He had taken three wickets for 14 runs in Indore.
Bumrah has played just 10 T20 games and is yet to feature in a first-class game or 50-over game at the senior level. If he carries on this form, he might soon be in the reckoning for Gujarat Ranji Trophy team.

He bowled well today, very impressive.
Love how he got AB.

And you can tell that after he bowled 4 overs in a micky mouse competition. Your talents are wasted on this forum-you should take over from mystic meg.

Was impressed to see some aggression from him to ABD, the other day, but heard he apologized on twitter. Why would you do that? I think this is where there is big difference in mentality with Indian medium pacers. The aggression is non existent. Be it Shami/Bhuvi/Umesh Yadav/Srinath/Prasad/Nehra. Soft trundlers galore. To give him some credit, i thought Sreesanth was atleast a bit aggressive.

He is an impressive bowler. I can see him being given a few chances in national side soon.

Woah look at Naman Ojha's score.

And his SR.

219 not out at 87 SR.

Fluke or is he getting crazy good these days?

Yet another good batsman from India :sachin

Not a fluke. That was a proper phainta to Aussies
I sincerely hope this guy doesn't go the Dinesh Karthik or Saha way coz Dhoni is at the helm. Seems to have talent and is one of the cleanest strikers in India. Could be an awesome wk bat. I would recommend him to be tried as a specialist batsman while Dhoni is around.
OTOH, Talent is one thing, harnessing it is another. Hope he applies himself and aims higher!

and those aggressives makes him lot of enemies :msd..

Doesn't matter. He has won us more test matches with bowling than any other Indian medium pace bowler in recent times (I can think of). Jo' burg 2006, his comeback game against SL in Kanpur 2009, 'THAT' ball to Kallis at Durban 2010. I've been saying this for long, he was talented as well as aggressive and had his fair share of success, just that the success got to his head.

Shami and Bhuvi are talented, but not one bit aggressive. Come across as soft. I don't want them to be like Sreesanth and be all loud. You can be aggressive without saying a word (Walsh!)

His name will always be associated with Umar Akmal, after Umar annihilated him in CLT20.

iA he gets over the mental scarring. I hope he does. Would be good to see another Indian entertainer. Love the Indian fast men.

He is in a good form right now

Hate, HATE his action. Like a robot that was programmed incorrectly.

Bowls with decent pace and has good bouncers and yorkers, still needs time to mature as he is very young, needs 2-3 seasons of Ranji trophy.

Don't understand what people have against him apart from his action - bowls at a brisk pace and can get it up to 140 kph, moves the ball both ways, gets bounce and is young. I don't know how accurate/consistent he is but given his gifts and his record, he should be among the best young fast bowling talents in India. Who's his competition at this stage? Sandeep Sharma? Abhimanyu Mithun? Basant Mohanti? Don't know if any of them match up to Bumrah's talents.

You are absolutely spot-on, Jasprit Bumrah's only crime for getting lambasted here on PP is that he is a good fast bowling telent coming up in India which is blasphemous here.

Jasprit Bumrah is the best amongst the 20-22 year old fast bowlers in India, his competition is Nathu singh, Avesh Khan, Chama Milind and Monu Kumar who are pacy. Sandeep Sharma is also a decent prospect but he is mostly a swing bowler who bowls in 130s, so more like Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Seems like he copied his action from legend Al-Amin Hossain. Navdeep Saini looked more like a better bowler than this guy. But that guy was trundling at mid 120s.

possible odi bowler? reminds me of colin croft with that angle he creates.

Whenever I see him bowl, he sort of flaps his arms around like a fan. He's probably the Paul Harris of fast bowling.

Nathu Singh, Avesh Khan, Brainder Saran and even Ishwar Pandey, Siddarth Kaul, Pawan Suyal, Shardul Thakur etc are better prospects than Navdeep Saini.

I keep coming back to the video to have a laugh. What an action.

Another trundling, swing bowler. If he is Indian, I am amazed at how many of these India manage to produce.

Anyone bowling 85 mph is a trundler?

Bumrah is getting stronger post a nearly 18-20 month long injury break so early in his career. He can easily get quicker as he plays more. Currently , in FC cricket, bowls around 83-84 mph and in List A, touches 87-88 mph randomly with average of 85 mph.

Needs one more full FC season with a couple of A tours and he will be ready for international cricket in about 12-15 months time

I've heard the same things about a whole host of Indian bowlers, similar to him.

Jasprit Bumrah Figures 10-0-40-2 in final ODI

Dude got 2 crucial wickets.

Steve Smith.

Finisher Faulkner.

He bowled the 49th over of the game to the rampaging Aussies

48.6 Bumrah to MR Marsh, no run, low full-toss on off stump and Marsh cannot whip it past mid-on, who has been moved into the circle. An excellent finish to a splendid 10 overs on debut

48.5 Bumrah to MR Marsh, no run, in the blockhole close to off stump, jabbed back hard to the bowler

48.4 Bumrah to Hastings, 1 run, slower ball outside off, Hastings defends into the off side with soft hands to bring Marsh back on strike

48.3 Bumrah to MR Marsh, 1 run, yorker close to off stump, whipped to long-on. Thinks about the second to get to his hundred, but it isn't available

48.2 Bumrah to Hastings, 1 run, another one in the blockhole, middle-and-off, not quite a yorker this time, and he clips it away to deep square leg. Lots of depth in this line-up. Here's John Hastings.

48.1 Bumrah to Faulkner, OUT, oh, Bumrah, what a delivery. Takes out Faulkner's off stump with a perfect yorker that the batsman plays all around
JP Faulkner b Bumrah 1 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

-----------

Always our new bowlers are BETTER than experienced seniors (barring rare exceptions).

So we have 2 years to see Bumrah perform before the inevitable decline happens.

Still excited about this guy.

Unless you test new players (with potential) will you know who is dud and who isn't? Hopeless trundles like Dhawal, Mohit, Arvind and all are NEVER going to make it yet we wasted time on them.

So congrats Bumrah.

Hope you don't go the way Indian pacers usually pan out.

He is a robot. Programmers have not yet perfected a natural Bowling action.

Let him play for two years. We will again bring a new bowler.
