Chahal cameback well in the last two overs yesterday.

I am sure he has some pressure on him when he see the legspinners from the other teams : Rashid, Hasaranga and Shadab. All three are much better than him.

India has the worst frontline spinner in the format.
 
Chahal will be on firing line mainly because he is too weak in the other two suits (batting and fielding). This means he has to deliver something extraordinary in bowling (to the level of Warne or Muralitharan - even these two were way better batsmen & fielders than him) to cement his place in the team. So having such players in the team is setback to team's composition always!

I hardly catch the IPL so I'm not sure if he's emerged from there, but based on 1 game :warner in the Asia Cup, I'd take Bishnoi over Chahal. He has some potential quality and air about him.

Never took to Chahal for some reason. Always preferred Kuldeep Yadav but Chahal was Kohli's favorite, it seems, and he even picked some nobody once to avoid playing Kuldeep.

Still the best T20 spinner in India. But needs to see how Shadab does it. Shadab ruthlessly bowls only googlies to left handers and puts them under pressure from ball 1. This gut bowls his loopy leg breaks often on leg stump and gets smashed.

He was selected because he had like 8-9 variations and for any team who is seeing him first time, they would have struggled to pick him. So, he was basically a short term plan for WT20 last year. Unfortunately it backfired poorly as he looked innocuous and didn't even had the surprise element which a lot of other spinners have atleast in their first two years. Now, he is gone behind anyways.
 
Don't think UAE pitches forgive slow classical leg spinner like him. He relies on flight. He can't rush batsmen with pace like other spinners did. Probably OZ pitches would suit him more. But his fielding is absolutely terrible.

Sad for him that he was so disposable. However, he was not THAT innocuous. His first couple of overs the batsmen struggled to pick him.
 
Sharing his thoughts on the Pakistan India clash, Yuzvendra Chahal, who'll be playing his first T20 World Cup, said that he won't be at much pressure having already played against Pakistan earlier. In an exclusive interview with Dainik Jagran, the spinner noted: "When you've already played against a particular opponent, you don't worry much when you face them again. However, there is lot of hype generated by media and internet ahead of the clash against Pakistan. But for us cricketers this is just like another match and if we think too much pressure certainly builds.

Kent Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of India international leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Club’s remaining LV= Insurance County Championship matches, subject to regulatory approval.

A seasoned white-ball international, Chahal has 87 wickets to date in 33 first-class appearances, with best figures of 6-44 coming for his native Haryana against Hyderabad in India’s Ranji Trophy.

Also previously an India youth international in the sport of chess, he will be available for selection in Kent’s remaining two home Championship matches against Nottinghamshire & Lancashire, as well as Kent’s away fixture against Somerset.

On joining Kent in first-class cricket until the end of the season, Chahal said: “This is an exciting challenge for me, playing in English county cricket, and one I’m very much looking forward to.”

Chahal is the second India international to feature for Kent this season, after left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh also wore the Kent shirt in Championship competition back in June & July.

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “We’re delighted to have secured a spinner of Yuzvendra’s quality for the last three Championship matches of the season, with Matt Parkinson not available to us until next year, and Hami Qadri recently injured.

“He is really looking forward to playing in English conditions and will bring a significant amount of skill and international experience to our squad.”

Tickets for Kent’s final home matches are available now via the Kent Cricket website at advance prices. Tickets will also be available at the gate, albeit it at £5 more, for each day’s play.

He goes for plenty even if he gets wickets. His batting is non-existent and fielding is below average. He is lucky to have played so many matches for India being a one trick pony and that too below average at it.

He's be given preferential treatment over Kuldeep around 2019 wc afterwards.
If India can somehow find pacers and spinners like their current ones with added batting ability, their tail issues would get solved. Right now, it's between picking your best attacking players or picking all-rounders.
 
Chahal is trash, he should consider himself extremely lucky to have played so many games for us.
 
Chahal never appeared to be a threatening bowler in my opinion.

I believe the decision to leave him out and include Kuldeep is a wise choice.

"I spoke to Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal) obviously when we did the initial retention and we only retained three players because we felt we wanted to try and buy back both Harshal Patel and Yuzi at the auction. Probably the thing that I'm really frustrated about even now is as you said Yuzi is probably one of the top five players of all time for RCB but he was also one of the best ever in the IPL and the fact that he couldn't make the top two marquee lists at that time was ridiculous, The fact that he came in number 65 on the auction list means that it was really difficult for us to guarantee we were going to get him."

"For Chahal, we knew there were five other teams that had more money than us and if we let go of all the bowlers before that and then we got to bidding for Yuzi and everyone knew we were going for Yuzi and we didn't get him we could have got bullied by five other teams and then been left with no leg spinner. So it was one that we'd spent hours and hours debating and trying to manipulate the mock auctions of how we could potentially leave ourselves with Yuzi. We felt we needed to have a decent dip at Wanindu Hasaranga obviously the fact he was, a three-dimensional player, batting for Sri Lanka had been really good at that time, was well, good player of spin and was performing incredibly well on the international stage. So we felt that if we weren't going to get Yuzi, Hasaranga was a really nice option for us."

"We got Hasaranga which we were delighted with but we knew that obviously, that would have flow-on effects so it was something that we tried really hard and then I remember ringing Yuzi afterwards, he was upset and trying to explain to him the auction dynamics at that time was you know he was not interested and I don't blame him. He was an RCBian and he was frustrated but I can assure you and him he is well aware of the issues we were confronted with and obviously I was part of that decision-making process but I certainly wasn't the only one involved in those discussions."

Bhajji can have him in his XI. India needs Kuldeep and another spinner that can actually bat. You don't want last 4 in the XI that do not know how to hold a bat.

He has been doing well in IPL but unfortunately never gets to play the World Cup. He might not be a good batter but his bowling is better but I guess he might not play the upcoming world cup solely for the reason that his bat game is poor as hell.

This guy is always an IPL bully but he never played a T20 World Cup before if I am not wrong here. Taking 200 wickets in a league is no joke but Kuldeep will always play ahead of him because of his consistency and impact as a left-arm chinamen.

He had a decent T20 career for a period of 1 or 2 years. But he regressed. THat is not the only issue. He has zero batting skills. Zero fielding skills. Zero catching skills. It is like playing with 10 batsmen.

What a start for him, he took 5 wickets for only 14 runs in 10 overs, which included 5 maiden overs. His spell helped Northamptonshire to bowl out Kent for only 82.

As a member of Gold winning olympic nation, I do think Chahl deserves credit for what he has done in limited overs cricket.
 
Yuzvendra Chahal took five for 45 for Northamptonshire against Derbyshire in a Division two match of the English County Championship. The Indian white-ball specialist also completed a personal milestone of 100 first-class wickets during the match, courtesy his third five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

Marriage for alimony has become a business in India. Glad that Chahal bhai didnt make any kids with her, else his condition would have been like Pandya. Yes, rule no.1...never make yourself laughing stock in front of wife. Then she will never respect you. Not only his wife but Andrew Symonds also once hold him by collar and hung him in balcony when both playing for Mumbai Indians. Yuzi used to think telling these stories will make him look cute but it actually made him look weak.

He got played in the end, he went for a bird that was way out of his league instead of going for someone that would’ve married him even if he wasn’t a cricketer.
 
So sad to see Yuzi in such a situation. I hope he returns to cricket and focus on his comeback now.

Yuzvendra Chahal will return to Northamptonshire this summer on a contract running from June until the end of the 2025 season

The Indian leg spinner will be available for the county's County Championship and One-Day Cup campaigns. The deal is reminiscent to the one that brought the 34-year old to Wantage Road last summer.

Chahal ended up taking 5 for 14 on his List A debut for the club, against Kent, who he joined in 2023, before helping Northamptonshire to a fourth-place finish in Division Two with 19 Championship wickets in four matches, at an average of 21.10. He also managed two five-wicket hauls, with 5 for 45 against Derbyshire making up career-best first-class match figures of 9 for 99.

Sincerely hope that Chahal is consigned to IPL only and never ever comes anywhere near Indian team. With great difficulty Indian cricket has got rid of him.

Sincerely hope that Chahal is consigned to IPL only and never ever comes anywhere near Indian team. With great difficulty Indian cricket has got rid of him.

He should not be brought back in the fold on the back of these good for nothing performances.

Why????

Whenever I’ve seen him play albeit it’s mostly only been Pak v Inda encounters, he’s always bowled really well. Troubles the batsmen with his variations and spin. Always a tough bowler to pick and hit.

So why so much hate. Saying this as a Pak fan and I wouldn’t like our team to face him.

Quote simple actually.

The guy can't bowl, bat or field. True lovers of Indian cricket has seen his mediocrity on a cricket field for far too long to be fooled by these 'performances'.
 
With the current setup, I don't think he is gonna find a spot in the team. Too many bowlers better than him atm who provide all round utility to the indian team.
