Malik is already a proven performer at this level, he just needs to get his confidence back. Imad is a rookie at this level, and thus needs to perform against better teams to prove his long-term utility.

Malik has done it against India, South Africa and a quality Sri Lanka etc. in the past.

And what about his performances in England, New Zealand, Australia etc. Is he a proven performer there? You do realise the next CWC is in England.

This was my fear with him. Too slow. No matter how skilled you are you need some base minimum speed to cut it at international level.

I'll still give him a few more games and he may end up doing fairly well but I just have this feeling of a batsman like AB or Gayle or Warner ever get hold of him and are striking cleanly then he will be destroyed

I'm sure Imran would do well if someone was actually trying to slog him! He's a death bowler and gets wickets by outsmarting batsmen when they need to play big shots but the Zimbabweans aren't even trying to hit the ball so he's not getting wickets. Doesn't mean his career is over
