Say what you want about T20's, but that tournament in 2009 recaptured the magic of the summer in 1999 and it meant a great deal given the empty trophy cabinet for many years.

Great moment, I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Every fan should be proud of this great victory, amazing and brilliant!!!!

Great moment, still remember how happy i was that day. Absolutely amazing.

Younis for all his limitations as a batsman was a very good captain.

We've no chance with Afridi leading and Shehzad/Hafeez opening.

shaz619 that was one of the greatest moments I've experienced. That T20 WC was a magical experience the way our team started off so low and turned it around a true fairytale performance.

Me to, I was at the semi-final (I bought the tickets at face-value because my intuition told me that we were defo reaching the semis); the atmosphere was incredible and electric. There was no doubt that we were going to win, magic was in the air. Just before the game began the South African team were doing their warm up jog, and every time they went past my stand I got a "CHOKERS!" "CHOKERS!" Chant going :))) man must be tough being an international cricketer when shazzy bears like that get into your head :yk

Went to the game against Ireland at the Oval in London to, the warm up that Pak were doing were hilarious :))) They were supposed to be performing squats but instead mimicked letting a few go on pakistani toilets while Younis Khan laughed away lmao

No one gave us a chance after that loss to England and we needed to destroy Holland or we risked elimination I think. The pivotal moment for me was when Razzaq was made eligible to join the team giving the top order the freedom to let go while completely elevating our depth/balance in the team; everything would then just click after the win against NZ.

He was pretty good even as a batsman in that particular tournament in the middle order.

Averaged 57 at an S/R off 140 and was among the top 10 run scorers

When Razzaq came into our team it just improved the balance. And for me the turning point was the epic Afridi catch against New Zealand when he ran back all that way and pulled off a blinder with that pose. Another great moment was when Kallis got out in the semis and it felt like the ball was in the air for an eternity before Malik caught it.

2009 was most epic t20 world cup.
The quality
The atmosphere
The class
The drama and on top of that the tributes made by people ot makes it even more better.

And rest were all boring especially 2010 and the last one in bangladesh.

That catch was incredible! I don't remember where he was fielding but he sprinted backwards some distance towards the boundary. One of the most breathtaking pieces of fielding I've ever seen. And the fans reaction was amazing.

Was one of the best moments for me as a youngster watching Pakistan. Hopefully we can repeat history and win in India. Big if.

Wow brought so many memories. Great video. I love the Pakistani crowd in UK. These guys show the real pak passion. Can't wait for the england tour.

That World Cup is the only reason why I don't care about our losses anymore. We won the big one that day

It really brought the nation together at a time when terrorism in Pakistan was at its peak. Great video, thank you.

The way we gained momentum as the tournament progressed was fantastic. The NZ match, in particular Afridi's catch and Gul's spell turned things around.

Good post. :14:

I was expecting something along the lines of:

The fact that we are still talking about it shows how pathetic we are as a nation. We love to harp on about 1992 and 2009 and we'll keep bringing it up until the next century while every other team adds more and more trophies onto their cabinet.

Pakistan cricket is finished.

Oddly enough, you overdid yourself there.

Excellent sharing bro, country was drenched with Terrorism, no one expected to Pakistan win the cup and in the end, we made the history. Great moments it were, hope to see again those moments again in 2016 :)

Amazing scenes - amazing memories - that was definitely one of the happiest days of my life.

I wonder if we'll get to experience that kind of happiness again with this team in the next decade...

I can proudly say that I was there that day. Amazing experience.

Yeah and Pakistan had been blacklisted as far as touring their was concerned after what happened in Lahore.

:))

In the 2000's it's our only ICC trophy and wasn't so long ago, something I will personally cherish for a long time given how I experienced the tournament in my country

Did you see the Doctor?!!!!  The World Cup Winning Doctor!:hafeez2

Of course, how can you miss the doctor, man. His sensational performance as the 12th man played a pivotal role in us lifting that trophy. :)))

:))) He also featured in 1 or 2 of the games at the start of the tournament, I will never forget his inspirational 2 or 3 overs in 6 balls; I had never seen anything quite like it in T20 cricket before, The Doctors theory was such was that, being the most fearsome bowler in the attack the batsman wouldn't have just 6 deliveries to survive. If the Doctor was't taking your wicket, he'd be messing with your mind and at times leave his opponents unable to continue after being forced to retire hurt by the look the doctor gave them, it induced concussions

My 24th Birthday ;) what a day that was everyone in our team contributed special contributions from Afridi, Amir, Saeed Bhai, Kami and Younis Bhai

All well and good but for me, one of the highlight of the tournament came in the semi-final when Kamran Akmal hit Steyn back for a six and Nasser Hussain was like "You know which Pakistan has turned out today"

That was like wow ... woah .. OMG moment for me ...

I remember. Only Akmal brothers can play a shot like that. Unfortunately he skied the next delivery and was caught at mid-on.

The best moment of the match though was Malik taking a skier on the straight boundary. Kallis was taking the game away from us. It was far from an easy catch, especially with dark clouds in the sky. I think most of our players would have dropped that one.

That was the match. SA lost all momentum and belief.

Greatest cricket experience ever for me, out of all the games I've been to that takes the cake for me (honourable mention to asif bowling ed joyce at edgbaston while playing a leave). My favourite moments of the match in the semi were, Kami's 6, afridi's double strike, gul's yorkers and run out by Fawad Alam who was in the team as as specialist fielder :)). It feels like it was yesterday but such a long time ago now.

Well there were more highlights from the semi-final as compared to the final #JustSaying

Gul's over, Afridi's batting + bowling, Ajmals bowling, Malik's catch, also honorable mention to Fawad Alam for adding life in to the match :))

They were on a record breaking winning streak coming into that semi-final, think it was something like 6 or 7 consecutive T20 wins

Great Memories. However there's always that one guy who has to go in a Sajda and force the rest to follow suit.

He's not called the phenom of Pindi for nothing! I've even heard some theories that the opposition batsmen were throwing their wickets against the likes of Gul and Amir just so Pakistan won't bring back the Doctor!

:))) Very true

It was pretty awesome, loved every moment of it.

I had no bloody idea why I didn't go to any of the matches despite it being in England, though I did go to the Pakistan vs Australia 2010 T20 where Umar Akmal was brilliant.

Yes for sure i remember I was watching the game with my office colligues and we all were like Loo padwadiya ajmal nay and then we realized catch taken by Malik :ajmal2:malik

I was literally in tears with the amount of Happiness I had on that day. Amazing memories.

Square Drive and the rest, cheer up guys and watch the video. The Aussies are going down!

Who remembers Fawad Alam coming into the playing XI to provide balance, ie to just field and not bat or bowl :))

simon619 excellent bump bro but even if we win I don't see Aussies beating India. :/

Anyhow here's hoping for the best!

I would like to share a memory here, i remember us playing the semi final vs SA. I was watching the whole match when i had a call from my brother to pick him up from the train station, i was so crossed with him, that i didnt wanted to leave the match as it was in its final stage, i remember leaving when ajmal was about to bowl 17th over and kallis was batting and at that point i thought if we didnt get kallis out - we will lose. Anyway i was driving back and i had radio on, lissening commentary, when i heard kallis comes down the wicket and he hits high very high and Malik is under neath it will he catch it....YES...MALIK TAKE THIS ONE HE IS AS COOL AS CUCUMBER. I stopped the car in the middle of the road and me and brother erupted. We went crazy...🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🙂 what a moment it was amazing, i missed younis khan i think he would have been a great captain had he kept his cool.

That's how good that line up was :)) we could afford to play a specialist fielder. I also recall Alam doing sajda wrong way when we won in the final :))) there were players doing sajda towards each other Alam was one of them lmao

Ah I would love to make another video bro but unfortunately the ICC have made it extremely difficult to share these videos without getting your account banned.

Due to ICC clamping down PP has also had to clamp down.

InshAllah will see if there is anything I can do but will be tricky I think unfortunately :(

I have made a few videos too for the newzealand and Afghanistan game but don't know if my youtube account would get a strike if it has cricket content? How does it work? you can't use cricket worldcup footage at all? or you can zoom in? confused...
