2015 World Cup Result : Australia overpowers India to advance to the Final of the 2015 World Cup

Not a great knock but he will be happy to bat so many overs. He needed to bat few more overs to bat Indians totally out fo the game but I think Aus has this game.

May be Finch is the reason why Australia batted this long ? The way wickets falling at the moment just made his innings very valuable

This gets me every time. Play slowly and selfishly so everyone else has to hit straight-away. Then when they get out doing so, you are the hero because you did 'better' than them.

A la misbah knock.strike rate of 70 when your team scores 328 shows how well he has batted.even shehzad would have done this.

How does Hazlewood feed on Johnson's spells when Hazlewood takes his wicket with the new ball and Johnson bowls first change?

So that would be Starc if not Johnson.

Like many other posters, I too don't rate him a lot. There is nothing wicket-taking about him, batsmen throwing their bats at him helps him a lot.

Naturally aggressive batsman but was struggling and played a slow knock today, mostly playing supportive role to Smithy and Maxwell. His knock could be the difference maker tonight, had he gone out in furstration, other batsmen would have struggled against our spinners on this slow track but he held on and played an uncharacteristic knock.

Great effort. :14:

Just to put this in perspective he played 106 balls more than Johnson and scored 54 runs more. In a game where 320 is par, wouldn't you prefer 0 (1) to 54 (106)? I know I would.

we don't need bmac type of blazing because indian's strategy is different. we will just make 45-50 runs around 1st 10 overs and rest, we will just milk.

For chasing 328, a Mac like innings could be very handy. Brings the equation to about 250 off 45, very much gettable.

I think India needs to stick to their game plan ... dont try to go Mc Cullum on them . Take it in blocks - If India scores 100 in the first 20 overs with max 2 wickets down - thats a good start.

yup. that should be the strategy. RR 5 will be enough for 20 overs. then accelerate when target becomes <100.

I was going to stay away from all news until I got a chance to watch this but couldn't resist. Woke up to check the score...7/328 I'm pretty satisfied. I don't know how they played but looking at the scoreboard looked like a bit of a collapse. Sparked by Maxwell it looks like who came in ahead of Clarke? I reckon they must have got a bit greedy with 1 wicket down and decided to go for a really big score and then got pulled back. 35th over is too early for Maxwell to come in IMO.

But still a decent score. If we bowl well we should be able to defend it. Looking at scoreboard looks like the quicks went for plenty and the spinners kept the rate down. Doesn't bode well for us with no specialist spinner though I'm sure the Indians would have destroyed Doherty.

Facepalm. Finch played so slow and Maxwell did exactly the right thing and 23 (12) had a very positive impact on the innings. Finch is the real culprit in this effort, as well as Clarke and Watson who really got stuck in the middle.

328 cannot be chased with just 6 front-line batsmen with "zero" alrounders :(
The team selection mistakes are again visible (which was evident in the start of the tournament). Just that Indian Team played out of their skins with the available team composition. No hitters after No.6, has to be India's worst late order in the recent past. India has to somehow go back to their old days of playing an extra batsman at No.7 to strengthen their batting. The bowling is anyhow going to leak runs against quality batsmen! This line-up holds good only in Indian Sub-continent (even there you don't need a 3rd seamer really)

Perfectly said.

Against weak teams like Bangla or Pak or Irish or WI, this 5 main bowlers strategy works.

But against quality units like Aus or NZ, there is no point in playing 5th bowler.

India should stick to its strength which is batting. Instead we compromised on it and played 5th bowler as though he is some Wasim Akram or Malcolm Marshall.

Shocking comments.

Saw what happened to Shamir or Mohit?

A 5th bowler who is a batsman would have got this tottal to 370 by releasing pressure at crucial points and then 1 more batsman wouldn't have mattered.

Buddy, you couldn't be more wrong.

SL sure treated them like bangla bowling.

Our batting is overrated. It has not been tested by any opposition so far.

Our tail starts from MSD. He comes in at 6.

Other batsmen are inconsistent like Rohit or Rahane.

Dhawan will be lucy to survive the inital spell from MJ and Starc.

Did anybody wake up the sleeping lion aka Rohit ? He doesn't look like in defense mode today . Either he will fail or succeed very big !

With four bowlers India would have been chasing 370 for sure.

Rohit edged twice omg , he used to ignore such balls but he is on different mode today

Anyways tomorrow's BD news would be India cheat again for Rohit to win Semi if Rohit survive and win this one lol

I like Watson a lot less now. He knew it wasn't out. it wasn't 50/50. That ball clearly bounced on the turf

You can not expect loyalty on semi finals ! Especially if it's some batsman who can hammer you hard later

India doing good here. Trying to get the feel of bounce and pace early. If they can survive 10 overs with good run rate it will be better
