seems Schiller you are taken with the concept of young Afridi as an artist. Let genius be in other words.
I still think there is much that needs improvement - though he has looked far better than bad days of yore.
For once he has started playing some shots of the backfoot and defending off backfoot as well. Front foot sloggers dont stand much of a chance in test crickt, as many of our all rounders have found out over the past half decade.
So the hope is for Afridi to acquire a more complete game, technically speaking, than for hopeful swipes ending in big innings.
And as you know, very well I suspect, genius also differentiates in its attention to detail. There are the broad brush strokes, and the finest detail.
I would have taken this pathan to task and given him a few good words in Pustho - I would have told him that unless he learns backfoot and side-on play I will not give him a chance. Its the only thing he would have listened to - and the devil, as always, is in the detail.
Excellence is forged from toil, genius and flair from a spark.
Afridi belongs to the latter, not the former.
