"Aaqib Javed is a clown": Jason Gillespie

trying to find something credible to suggest Lee inspired Stanlake too :ROFLMAO:
He might as well say Brett lee inspired Dennis Lillie.

Samma tv interviewer: so lillie what made you decide to pursue fast bowling?

Lillie: Brett lee

Samma tv: Who's that?

Lillie: Just some guy who's gonna be born 60 years from now.

Well this is stupid isn’t it

Where are the 160kmh bowlers inspired by Brett Lee? It’s not Akhtar’s fault Pakistani youth just ain’t got it in them to become 155Kmh+ bowlers atm

Rauf’s speeds from the AUS series to the CT have already dropped considerably, he is now more like a Nasheem Shah level bowler

Aqib did a lot of right things when he came to the scene. He dropped Shaheen, Babar etc. and we destroyed Bazball at home. Positives in South Africa and Australia series as well as picking a young squad for zimbabwe which was a huge change as Babar and Rizwan wont even skip zimbabwe series before. They would have zero desire to leave their spot for any youngster.

However slowly but steadily things started going back to the status quo, with it going full spectrum in the CT squad selection which is when i dropped my support for Aqib.

Something is wrong behind the scenes, my take is that post Australia/South Africa ODI series victory, Saya boys did some power struggle and tried to influence selection. Then there was probably political interference where we saw players like Faheem getting selected.

Aqib ruined it, he should have resigned instead. However he still has a chance to make a comeback, the chairman needs to empower him.

Gillipese btw is a much worse coach, and you saw how poor his strategy was in the embarrasing banglawash.

We could never see Kristen in full flow.

No no, Brett Lee inspired Lillie. And rizwan inspired Ponting. Didn't you know, To this day Ponting weeps cause he knows that he would won 1996 wc + 2011 wc had he had access to 6 Rizwan's and 5 shaheen's.

He's still a goat captain cause he had to utilise rubbish like hayden, Gilly, martyn, mcgrath, Warne etc.

poor ponting, if only these guys buzzed off and 6 rizwan's helped him out

@Kianig89 this is Asif Ali and Sharjeel Khan's fault too. Pointing couldnt maximise his utilisation of Rizwan and Babar, the people he was inspired by.

Ponting does not have time to comment on any random Joe selected by Pakistan, he saw something in RizBar therefore the comments.

'Unfair and uncalled for' - Jason Gillespie urges ex-pros to tone down 'negativity' around Pakistan cricket

Speaking on the PakPassion podcast, Gillespie - who resigned from his position as Pakistan head coach in December - touched on a wide range of challenges currently facing Pakistan cricket. He was particularly strong on the difficulties public criticism from former players gave to the current crop of players.

"I'd love to see former players come out and be a bit more supportive of the current players," said Gillespie. "I think there's far too much negativity. I understand people are paid to have an opinion but there's constructive criticism... They [former players] do get stuck into the players a lot. I think it's unfair and uncalled for.

Pakistan's interim head coach Aaqib Javed stresses the need for continuity after their Champions Trophy first-round exit.

"What these former players have got to understand, they were wonderful cricketers for Pakistan no question, I'm not debating that, but the current players and the former players have got a bond, and that bond is they've all put on that green cap and they wear that badge over their heart on their shirt, the Pakistan badge. So they've all got something in common, they're part of a special club that have represented the country of Pakistan.

"The former players have got to remember they were in the current players' shoes once upon a time as well. So they know what it's like. Maybe they can change the narrative and be a bit more supportive in their various media roles."

During Pakistan's disappointing home Champions Trophy campaign, Shoaib Akhtar criticised Babar Azam's strike rate in the side's tournament opener against New Zealand. Speaking on Tapmad's Game On Hai post-match analysis show, the former fast bowler said: "Babar Azam has become the product he had to become, it is visible, what can I debate about it? There is no intention to improve."

While I disagree with Gavaskar’s statement about Pakistan losing to India B or C sides, I would say what Gillespie is saying is incorrect too.

The personnel at the top have changed but the pool of players has remained exactly the same, with the exception of one or two players. They have had enough consistent chances and not been able to improve themselves at all.

Yes change in higher management leads to instability but at the end of the day if the same bunch of players are playing every single game day-in day-out, how much can you really complain about instability?

Is Mohsin Naqvi the reason Babar and Rizwan are playing an insufferable amount of dot balls to get set every single game?

I’m sorry but I still do not buy this nonsense that Rizbar are the root of all evils in Pakistan Cricket.

You're a good poster but my post has clearly gone over your head because nowhere did I insinuate (let alone state) this.

@Kianig89 did RizBar register for this edition of BBL or were they ignored as usual?
What was ponting even suppose to say if they hired ba/riz?

We want stability in the order but apprantly they want stability at the top so I decided to slap them and axe them from my team?

It's not my fault if you can't understand different lines of reasoning.

Rich coming from someone who posts gems like "Babar should come out to bat in a super over because he can hit 6 x 4s" and truly believes Joginder Sharma had a more impactful career than Shoaib Akhtar.

Let me simplify for you - it wasn't an actual conflict of interest. You can portray it as one, but that's just your opinion. You can't prove the conflict according to any standards that defines what actual 'conflict of interests' are.

Please don't bring my sincerity into question if you can't understand the basis of the argument.

If I'm in a committee and I vote in favour of sacking an individual in my organisation, only to then decide to put my name forward right after their role becomes vacant, what I've done here is a conflict of interest regardless of what the outcome is.

Misbah's conflict of interest would've been disregarded had he performed well but there was no chance of him succeeding because his cricketing IQ and the brand of cricket that he wanted Pakistan to play was quite simply substandard and archaic. He's by far the worst captain I've seen in tests played in Australia. I remember very well how he was bowling Yasir Shah to the ground with all those leg-side fields. He was being mocked and ridiculed by the Channel 9 comm. box.

2017 CT was the most memorable memory for me because of how Pakistan fared in the previous edition of the tournament due to Misbah's archaic cricketing mind. As soon as he was gone for good from white ball cricket, there was a complete contrast in fortunes:

2013 CT
Host: England
Captain: Misbah
Outcome: Lost all matches including a game against India.

2017 CT
Host: England
Captain: Sarfraz
Outcome: Brought the CT home after beating India in the final by 180 runs

Just to make it clear I don't rate Sarfraz. All I'm saying is he just wasn't substandard as Misbah.

It's an easy way out for you to scapegoat one player. It wasn't his best innings but let's not forget the failure of others around him. That game should've been in the bag, if only our hitters had played according to their roles. Also you blame Misbah but not your favourite Younis Khan who played even slower. Why the double standards?

You have no absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I wanted Younis Khan dropped from ODIs after the 2011 World Cup - I actually said this recently to @mominsaigol

As expected, you failed to address this:

I don't know if you remember there was a poll on PP, just prior to Misbah's appointment after the 2019 World Cup, asking posters whether they approve of him as Pakistan's Coach (and Chief Selector). Over 80% were against it. If you were to do the same poll today, I reckon it would be around 95%. So what does that tell us about you and Misbah?

It tells us that hardly anyone on PP rates Misbah's cricketing intellect and his supporters have the same struggles when it comes to their understanding of the game. This is evident from the following gems that you and Major have bestowed us with:
  • Misbah > Inzamam in ODIs
  • 300 off 800 balls is a better test innings than 350 off 400 balls
  • 40-0 > 66/1 after 6 overs in T20 cricket
  • Babar should bat in the super over because he can hit 6 x 4s
  • Joginder Sharma was a more impactful bowler than Shoaib Akhtar

You may or may not be be smart in real life but the more you parrot this, the more you expose your cricketing intellect.

The bottom line is you and Major are the two biggest Misbah fans here and collectively you have come up with these gems, which are by the worst takes I've ever come across since joining PP. It perfectly sums up your cricketing intellect and why no one should take Misbah fans seriously.
Bro don’t forget the latest gem: “Only Misbah and Fakhar have been two good white ball batsmen for Pakistan”

Just to add @daytrader

Even though YK is my favourite all-time Pakistan player, at the end of the day, I support Pakistan cricket first so the best interests of the team will always be the top priority as a sincere Pakistan cricket fan.

But with you it seems you support Misbah (and perhaps Babar and Rizwan) more than the Pakistan team itself. For example, I have no doubt in my mind if Misbah was reappointed as Head Coach you would approve regardless of his credentials and the circumstances that led to his second coming because he's your favourite not because he represents the best interests of Pakistan cricket.

was this actually said 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Joginder Sharma was a more impactful bowler than Shoaib Akhtar

NVM this one is even worse 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes from Major. At the time, everyone was laughing at him

One of the most recent gems shared by the pair of them.
300 of 800 balls isn't even possible. They would literally declare way before that happens.. and in this era due to pitch curation, you'd be bowled out unless you're playing in pakistan and Brooks is batting.

And i had to literally Google Jogindar Sharma before replying. I thought he was saying Ishant sharma.

Until I googled Jogindar and realised he's only played 4 odi's and 1 t20 in his entire career before being dropped 🤣🤣🤣.

Watch the 2007 WT20 final over. Misbah fans are distraught him that their hero got embarrassed by this bowler.

Joginder Sharma didn’t last long as a professional cricketer because he was so bad and became a policeman.

The fact of the matter is Misbah got defeated by a policeman who wasn’t anywhere near international standard.

Well I guess thank you…

But can you summarize what you were trying to state?

I was giving credit to Rana for his foresight when he correctly predicted the Babar and Rizwan opening pair would fail (merely as batsmen).

This discussion began when Major called him a clown, which is ironic when his track record of comical takes and gems exceeds what anyone else has managed come to up with on PP.

Going back to what you touched on. Pakistan cricket is plagued with a number of issues including:

- Poor and corrupt governance
- Nearly all of the players come from poor and uneducated backgrounds. As a result, they do not appreciate the importance of work ethic and lack match awareness. They are meek and are no leaders of men. Hence why finding captaincy material in Pakistan cricket is liking finding a needle in a haystack
- Pakistan is cricketing illiterate. Their understanding of the game is by far the worst of all the major cricketing nation and perhaps the worst with minnows included. It’s no wonder why they have been unable to produce a single decent coach
- What worked in the past does not work today. For example, due to the lack of cameras, it was easier to get away with ball tampering and produce reverse swing. There was a time when ICC used to be lenient on “mystery spinners” with dodgy bowling actions. In today’s game you ideally want taller bowlers with high arm actions with conventional swing or seam bowling skills. No Pakistan bowler born in the 90s and onwards has managed to produce 200 test wickets which is rather telling. Pakistan has not produced a single half decent off-spinner since Saeed Ajmal. That’s because there’s no one to coach them how to do it right without resorting to ball tampering and dodgy bowling actions
-Misbah-ism. He changed the psyche of Pakistan cricket and set a terrible precedent in more ways than one. His brand of cricket was archaic. There was a culture where individual success at the expense of the team’s fortunes thrived. His introduction of cake cutting the bar low for Pakistan cricket and an act that gave the vibes of small team mentality. He retired in his 40s which didn’t bode well for Pakistan cricket because now everyone thinks they can play till they are in their 40s. He went behind Mickey’s back to take his job for himself. It looks like Aqib has taken a leaf out of his book and done the very same thing to Gillespie and Kirsten.

Its been happening in the forefront for many years, only the person from the other side can see it and feel the injustice.. The person from the same side will back it because it will benefit him and his future peers.

Didnt they just bring down the two G's as coaches for a clown yes a ""clown"" like Aqib.. From Mohsin > Aaqib they have destroyed , whats the first thing Mohisn did plucked the captaincy out of Shaheen and give it to Babar and starting from there its been a serious laughing stock.. during his tenure he has changed 3 selection committees and 4 coaches and 4 captains in less than a year..

I think you're missing the big picture here. These foreign coaches were NOT willing to spend time in Pakistan, work closely with the players, or scout for talent. No matter how impressive their resumes might be, it’s pointless if they are absent most of the time and delegate the hard work to assistant coaches in Pakistan.

They were neither dedicated nor fully invested in Pakistan cricket like Bob Woolmer, Geoff Lawson, and Mickey Arthur during his first tenure. It seemed they were only there to collect paychecks and not put in the hard work. The question is, did the PCB hire them out of desperation, knowing they weren’t willing to spend most of their time in Pakistan?
The question is, did the PCB hire them out of desperation, knowing they weren’t willing to spend most of their time in Pakistan?

this is the million dollar question, this is the consequence of hiring online coach , that your future applications will ask for the same kinda treatment and will be hard to bring in foreigners as coaches..

the reason for their resignation is that stripping their say in selection , if they dont show up to spend time in Pakistan ,stripping their say in selection is not the solution as it clearly backfired with their resignation... Just keep it up with them , constantly remind them , give warning signs, say what is required of them , if they are breaching whats agreed then sit and have a chat put a development and improvement phase say 3 + 3 months , see it through for a period of year and if the teams and players performance are also not improving then it goes against them very badly and also to their resume and then you sack them for the poor effort and show citing the reasons.. that is a professional setup would work..

But in PCB every single thing gets leaked by the ppl running it.. Even captains personal SMS to the chairman thats how ridiculous this board is and the clowns that they have in there.. Never to believe the words of these thieves..

Someone should ask Gillespie, if the PCB in the future offered him a handsome amount to become Pakistan's coach, will he accept it?

From his interviews i get the feeling he is heavily invested in Pakistan Cricket and his experience with the players have grown on him, he is suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

His response to Gavaskar's comment was very emotional which you will not associate with a foreigner in relation to Pakistan Cricket. Even Mickey Arthur in his passionate peak would not have responded that strongly.

didnt u the see the lahore brigade dropped Muhammad Haris from 20-20 for Azam Khan and Usman Khan , he s making return now after 2 years.... Pulling down Sarfraz captaincy for no reason , back then Pak was no.1 T20 team and giving it to a nothing babar orchestrated by the nothing former captain mr. misbah....they have done so many, dont get things started...

exactly...he couldnt come out from the fact that he was made to resign by a clown like Aaqib.. PCB brought a level headed coach into such a state now.. His withdrawal symptoms are quite clear and gets emotional..

If he is offered again, sure he might take it to prove he is worth and leave a legacy behind..

As long as you don’t create an agenda against him for not holding camps…

Wahab was who was selector dropped haris... MIsbah isnt but at that time there were a lot of media lobbying against the Karachi captain and Misbah to save his face from 3-0 home defeat to a second string SRL side and for bringing Ahmed Shezad and Umar akmal back which was a misfire, then he sacked Sarfraz from all formats , the media lobbying made things easy for him ..

Yeah he looks quite emotional about Pakistan and I hope Naqvi sees sense and get rid of Aqib and give an iron clad contract for 12 months I think he seen enough talent in the setup to think he can turn this sides fortune around
