ACC Asia Cup 2022: Speedwatch

Haris is the fastest bowler in the world right now but hasnain has been very very impressive as well.
 
hasnain looks really good when he gets it right, but has the tendency to spray it, hope he can improve his control and he might even get into a front line pak bowling attack.

his pace has been real good this tournament, which is surprising given he's had his action modfied.
 
It's an oddity but Husnains pace has definitely increased after action modification. You generally don't expect that specially when the action change was done so recently and he hasn't had time to really mature into it.
But whatever it is , it's working. He always had that express effort ball , clocking 156 a couple of times pre ban but his average pace was around 140-144 mark. What we've seen of him this time around is that he's consistently in that 146-150 range and clocking 150 a number of times in his spell.

The fastest of the bunch is still Haris. Based on most recent evidence , he has to be the fastest in the world. Everything full is 148-150 (short balls around the 145 mark) with every 3/4th ball crossing 150. Neither Nortje nor Ferguson have displayed such consistently high speeds.

Shah seems to have tamed down a little but it's working for him. He has more accuracy now and seems to have developed that in dipper in addition to his natural out swing.
 
Hasnain is also getting more bounce with his new action in addition to the increased pace.

Exactly he has a lovely out swinger for right handers. He's also getting very good bounce with the new action, hope he keeps on improving so we can drop trundlers like Hassan Ali from the squad.

Agreed. It's a bit surprising to see Hasnain bowl so quick with the modified action and I think that may have to do with his run up. I think it looks a bit more smoother whereas before it seemed like he was slowing up as he got ready to bowl and despite his pace, he never looked all that pacy with his run up.

Credit to the coaches for working on Hasnain modified action and it's great to see him bowl at a high level. We often saw glimpses but never that consistency and hopefully this is the beginning of a long career for him.
 
Damn I thought our Sooper Fasht trundler Arshdeep Singh would have clocked the quickest delivery of the tourney...

He surely deserves a place over a no name Kashmiri like Umran Malik...

Spot on. Hasnain's average pace has increased.

As far Rouf, vs India out of the 24 balls he bowled, 12 were 150k or above. That's crazy. Basically 150 every other ball slower balls included...
 
Feel my comment in another thread is valid here too.

Yesterday during the match the commentators had a very interesting debate which is worth bringing up.

Should Pakistan go into the T20 WC with the 4 pacers and 2 spiners or keep the attack their have right now perhaps swapping one quickie with Shaheen.

Waqar and Gautam were pro this choice, Styris and Wasim were not.

They proposed:

4 batters + Rizwan +
Nawaz
Shadab
Shaheen
Haris + 2 from
Hasnain/Dahani/Naseem

Very tough call - but I'm actually thinking if we don't have a middle order, which we don't, why carry passengers? Maybe we can get more from Shadab and Nawaz as batters?

I'd add Lahiru Kumara, fully-fit Chameera, Jofra Archer and Oshane Thomas. Regularly in the 148-152.
 
Rauf will be rapid in Australia if he's consistently bowling 150s in the UAE. All five of Shaheen, Rauf, Naseem, Hasnain, and Dahani will get a lot of pace and bounce in Australia.

Every single one of the bowlers stated above can consistently bowl over 145kph. We're blessed with pace.

They may have the same top speed but I doubt they have that consistency.
I haven't seen all the cricket being played around recently but I don't remember ever seeing any of those names bowling at that speed consistently. Like someone mentioned above, Haris against India clocked 150 or above on 12 balls so 50% of the time.
Im sure Kumara or Chamira have never bowled anything close in that in their careers. I've seen Nortje, Ferguson and Wood all bowl at 145-150 consistently at times in short bursts/t20 cricket but can't remember a single spell when they were that consistent. Maybe I missed that game. The last I saw of Ferguson was against WI and Australia where he was 142-148 with an occasional ball touching 150.

And all of what I'm talking about is ofcourse "at present"/short term. With Rauf, we're talking about a brief period of time here, 4-5 games.Previously he hadn't displayed such a peak. We can only say he's capable of that speed in the long term if he continues to do that over and over. T20s would be the main format to look at as no bowler in the world is capable of doing that in the longer formats( bar Akhtar in 98-99 and Lee in 03-04).

Ageee with you, that conversation was the most interesting part of the match for me because I hadn’t thought about going with 6 proper bowlers in Australia. It’s risky but it could work if we get someone like Haider or Shan at 4 who’s a proper batsman and Wasim at 8 who is an all rounder, at least in T20’s. That way you have 4 top order batsmen, 3 all rounders. and a finisher (Asif). If you pick 4 pure bowlers then your gonna end up in a situation like India where your 6 down and Kohli is refusing singles in the final over because no8 is a tailender.

Waseem plus any of our three quicks and Shadab + Nawaz is easily the best attack of the World Cup and could allow Babar and Rizwan the luxury of not having to worry about massive totals. I think it’s worth giving it a try against England.

Apparently someone by the name of Faheem Khan from Multan who clocked 162.3 km/hr. He apparently clocked 160 km/hr plus every delivery for two overs.

Pakistanis r lucky that Atul sharma is not playing this asia cup
Otherwise their whole pace bowling unit must have looked like trundlers in front of him

Only Legends know who is Atul sharma

I'm gonna have to see to believe it. Bowling over 160kph every delivery without professional training is almost impossible.

that has to be embellished, the fastest baseball pitchers hit 105 mph, throwing, with a ball that's 5% lighter, if a cricketer was doing that speed hed be the most advanced throwing / pitching athlete in the world ever.

would be amazing if true, but I'm guessing it was a miscalibrated speed gun.
 
Shah much more measured recently. Focusing more on his lines and seam.
 
Gunathilaka bowled by Haris at 151kmh. Followed by a 153kmh ball to the net batter. What a beautiful sight

Haven't seen stumps flying around since Shoaib's bowling far back in 2007. Haris Rauf is on fire.

He is the fastest bowler in the world this present moment. 60% of recorded deliveries 150 and above

When he toured Australia he was quicker than what he is today he peaked upto 153

Before their debut it was famous everywhere that among young uncapped pacers naseem is the quickest followed by Hasnain. The it seems that Hasnain hs left behind naseem in pace

Naseem was never a 140kph to 145 kph guy. He always bowled in the range of 145kph - 150kph.

Naseem has lost a bit of pace but it's ok, he is bowling beautifully with more movement.
 
Naseem's pace may be down a little but I prefer this version of him, as he is swinging the ball both ways.

Two factors,
1. His action was changed to a more side on one from the original front on version to keep his back from breakind down

2. He's brought it down himself to concentrate more on control. It seems to be paying off for him. He's much better bowler now than he was when he played in Australia. He's seaming the ball both ways and is hitting that sweet length consistently.
He doesn't need to be 150 plus. 145 is lethal when paired with control
 
I've never found Hasnain exciting to watch either pre or post action change. Even with all his pace, he tends to bowl boring spells.
