Will Mickey Arthur's presser and probably pep talks enable the Pakistan team to bounce back against a confident Afghanistan side? Won't be a pushover, that's for sure, considering the margins they've beaten Sri Lanka and Bangladesh by.
 
Poor Afghanistan will get hammered. Pakistan bout to go berserk on them.

Any news on Shadab?
Afghan will be looking for 220-240 if they bat first
 
Get Shaheen in for Amir & Nawaz for Faheem. Afghanistan shouldn't cross 220 if they bast first, our batsman will most liking crumble while chasing anything above 230 against these lethal afghani spinners.
 
As incredible as Afghanistan has been recently, Pakistan should win this 9 out of 10 times. They're still a much superior team overall.
 
This match is going to be watched by a lot of people due to the hostility between the two countries, a lot of the Punjab players have stood up and played great knocks against Afghanistan in previous encounters so I'm hoping that our bowling comes good here and that we bat positively.
 
So is Shadab Khan playing? Is he match fit? I am more interested in this match than India vs Bangla. We all know how that will turn out.

No according cricinfo Nawaz will be playing. Junaid will replace Amir A well.
 
Pakistan being one of the best teams against spin bowling and my lack of confidence in Afghan batters questionable ability to handle quality fast bowlers makes me totally feel Pakistan should win this by ease.

Look forward to a great contest though.

If Afghans somehow manage to bat first and score anything over 220-230 runs we might have a real close game.

We should win this but Afghanistan cannot be underestimated. They can cause an upset.
 
Afgan batsmen showed maturity, in both previous matches they provided enough runs to their bowler to defend

pak bowlers should not allow them to make partnerships

Rightly so.. playing minnows..a thumping win on the cards..afghan boys played well but they have had their moments for this cup..should be easy work today

Tricky game for Pak with Afghan ridding high and Pak team most likely choosing wrong balance again. We need Haris in place of Faheem to bolster the batting .Even if Haris fails in this match he should be retained for the next match as he adds strength to our weak batting.
 
According to circles on social media it’s Amir and Faheem out for Haris and Shaheen.
 
The only place Haris should play is in place of Imam. Any other spot will be wasted on him as he is just another accumulator. Dropping either of Faheem or Shadab will be a bone-headed decision :facepalm:

As AFG have shown twice now, accumulators are exactly what you need for this tournament. A middle order that can score steadily followed by a big hitter down at 7 or 8 a la Rashid (Shadab can be that man for Pak) and teams can get to 250.

Given that Afg has been able to defend 250 consistently now, I would think that you would be confident of Pak doing the same. But you seem to be wanting your batsmen to put up 300.
 
Big Banana skin today..need to get over this hurdle and then make sure we beat bangladesh..
Very disappointed with the performance against India the other day..I dont mind losing if its a close or tough match..we just gave it away so easily..typical early tournament Pakistan..

afghans batting needs to be put under pressure..

Nice.Our batting lineup needed one more proper batsman i.e haris.Always like this approach from mickey.See the weakness and look to cover it.Thats how we won CT also

Any team should rightly be scared or atleast wary of Rashid-Mujeeb-Nabi trio in Asia. They add a lot of variety, skill & control to their bowling attack. Afghanistan are better than Bangla, SriLanka in Asia & they have proved it over the course of last year or so.

Shinwari should be persisted with on any Asian pitch any day, Junaid's straight barrel 80-82 mph balls won't add anything better to our bowling attack. Bowlers like Shinwari & SSA are a must have on UAE pitches.

I would have preferred Haris instead of Imam. Agree with Shaheen instead of Amir. If Hassan fails in today's match, he should be replaced with Junaid in the next match.

I am genuinely scared of this Afghanistan side, they really have their game and strategy sorted, and they know what their strengths are. One would expect Pakistan to win, but I won't call it an upset if Afghanistan win, they can back themselves to win this for sure.

Come on..not being arrogant but u playing minnows..it will be a convincing victory to say the least.. they have nothing sorted and wont for a while still..long time to go so stop exagerrating plz
 
A good warning for Amir. If he does not improve his performance he will have same treatment like Hafeez.
 
Negativity on CI id mind boggling mixing political things in very comment and preview.But they have to remmebr that is is pakistan sharing 1800km border with Afghan not India...We can be good friends anytime as we need each others.
 
I hope it is more than just a win the toss and win the game kind of match.

Hoping for an entertaining game.

TBH Faheem was the one batsmen who looked classy v India alongside Babar and Malik
 
I think it was inevitable. Faheem is not batting well enough. We needed more spin options.
