Africa XI vs Asia XI - Updates

Asif gets de Villiers bowled second ball!! Absolute corker, seamed back a long long way.

4/1; Dippenaar in!

I think this is a good learning experience for Asif, that the people who he sledges or stares at, could be on his team the next month

better than a 1 series fluke

freddie?

ashes 05?
Who considers Freddie a legend? He is not even remotely close to being one.

Legends are cricketers like Bradman, sobers, lloyd, holding, richards, botham, imran khan,Shane Warne, Akram,Sachin,Gavaskar etc etc..

Scoring lots of runs in one calendar year does not make a batsman a legend -Pleaseee.

The players whom i have mentioned above are considered to be legends by the past and present cricketers, commentators, cricket journalists and cricket loving public all over the world.

Md Yusuf is considered a legend only in Pakistan

I dont want this to become an English/cultural lesson but certainly in the UK and its various colonies (ie Aus/NZL etc), the word legend doesnt necessarily mean an All time great. It can also refer to quality players/cult heros.

You'll often hear someone say 'you're a legend' or 'what a legend'.

How about throwing Inzi there as well. After all he is your highest run maker in ODI's and could be in tests if they let him play. Further more, Gavasker was a complete over rated player who only played for himself. SELFISH should be his legacy if you want to call him a legend.

5.6 Khan to Bosman, OUT, After the bouncer comes the fullish one outside the off stump. Bosman, still hanging on the back foot after that short-pitched stuff, has a loose drive and is snaffled up in the first slip. It was the bouncer which led to this dismissal.
LL Bosman c Jayawardene b Khan 2 (12b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

20 for 3.

Asif and Zaheer keeping it really tight. 24/3 in 7.5 overs. Good stuff.

seems it is very lovely pitch with lots of offering to the bowlers as well. game would have been an even contest had Africans have atleast one international bowler. it is pity that having Pollock in the side, he didn't bowl.

Oh boy this is new

8.5 Mohammad Asif to Tikolo, OUT
SO Tikolo hit wicket b Mohammad Asif 5 (19b 0x4 0x6) SR: 26.31

8.5 Mohammad Asif to Tikolo, OUT, hitwicket! Bizaare. Tikolo goes back to a short of length delivery and pushes it out to the off side. But alas, he drags his front leg, yes front and not back, on to the leg stump. That's strange. Usually, one goes back and ends up sliding the back leg fatally but this time he stopped himself and then the front leg went back. Gone.

SO Tikolo hit wicket b Mohammad Asif 5 (19b 0x4 0x6) SR: 26.31

:)) :))

Mohammad Asif to Kemp, OUT
JM Kemp b Mohammad Asif 5 (8b 1x4 0x6) SR: 62.50

Asif's on fire

Anyone who thinks Asif is not a good ODI player is just plain stupid.

Off topic of course, but someone else started it so I'll finish. Anyone who says Flintoff is a one series fluke is a complete and utter moron. South Africa home and away tests, West Indies home and away tests, India away tests, Commonwealth Bank ODI series in Australia are just a few of the other superb series he has produced in addition to the 05 Ashes.

And anyone who thinks Flintoff is a legend and not Yousaf too is a complete and utter moron!

What does that have to do with me? I think both might be thought of as legends in a decade's time, Flintoff has more chance, but why reply to me as if you were replying to someone else.

I agree Whippy, flintoff has MORE of a chance since in the last 10 years NO ENGLISH player can be classed as a LEGEND

WHEREas in Pakistan we have a LEGEND every few years. so MOYO will find it harder

Every few years :))) :))) :)))
That is just arrogant rubbish...players that are universally recognised legends are rare from any country. Fans from a country might be fond of certain players and recognise their high class, and proclaim them to be bigger than they are, like an English fan would with Flintoff or a Pakistan fan would with Yousuf. But actual legends are very rare in cricket and its sad we have got to the stage where hyperbole is so readily used.

Africa 76-6, Asif has taken 3 wickets, Zaheer 2, and Jayasuriya took the most recent one, that of Boucher!

25.1 Harbhajan to Chigumbura, SIX!!, delivery tossed up on the stumps, no real spin on that occasion, Chigumbura comes down the track and smacks it over the top, straight down the ground for a biggie!!! that went miles back into the stands!!!

Hey how do you explain Akram, Inzi, Waqar? Flintoff doesn't even come close to any of these players and you can go ask any Englishman or any other player or analyst around the world and they would agree with that.

And you based it on what?

Big attempted hit off Sanath....

Yousuf uses all his athletic prowess to miss the ball - and the likely catch :)

His last two ODI's against SL :D
BTW i was being sarcastic mate.
I like Asif ,but there are many here who don't like him and want to see the end of his career ( i might add most of them are pakistanis :P )

That's alright, I thought you were one of those morons. My bad.

Gotta give props to Africans for trying to make a huge comeback.

And Chigumbura gone to Jayasuria. Wonderfully played!

Come on bring Asif back in!

That's it, it's over. Chigubura out caught by none other than our own Yousuf. Africans are virtually done or I should say officially done.

Its nice to see Asif and Yousuf contributing in this match. Usually they hardly ever do anything when they are paired up with players from other teams.

I believe this Asif's first ever match on an international XI team.

Please let it be Asif, although if I was Jayawardene, and Asif did that to me, I wouldn't let him bowl in the entire innings ;)

Wasn't Asif in the pavilion? When did he come back?

I'm referring to the 2nd ODI in the Warid Cup

Respect to the Pollock! Showing why he has been a class act for a long time...

Asif having a really bad comenack over. Perhaps he is not a good bowler later on in the innings and perhaps this is why both Inzy and Malik tend to use mostly all his overs in his initial spell.
