"All my life, I've come across small men occupying big offices" : Imran Khan's response to Modi

He is only diplaying his frustration. As he knows that he doesnot have the military or economic or diplomatic might to do much againist India. So all he can do is tweet.

There’s not much you can do when Indian soldiers are heavily armoured with cricket pads, elbow guard, box and a helmet, the mighty Indian military.

So much arrogance:facepalm:

As Khan often quotes, "Fish rots from the top". Arrogance and negativity comes from the top (their leadership).
While most Pakistanis on this forum and on social media talk about peace talks and it's importance, all you get from most Indians is negativity and arrogance. We are too big, we have too big economy, why should we talk about peace

It should be an end to peace talks. These low level people don't deserve any respect

That's an absolute roast. Feels good to see someone finally having the guts to stand up for Pakistan and to present us good light. Others may say this egoistic approach is not going to take him far or may label it as a false bravado, however, I'd like to remind everyone not to forget that it is Imran Khan, as the Prime Minister of Pakistan who initiated the call for peace talks, going to the extent of personally writing a letter to the Indian counterpart.

If the Indians are going to have such an arrogant approach towards peace in the region and are going to show their malice for Pakistan, no other approach is better. Hats off IK!

BJP has always been anti-Pakistan. It's how they win their elections.

IK might have a better chance once the Congress party wins. Till then he should focus on other important matters.

Cut off all ties with Hindustan, the peace meme has been going on too long despite Kashmiris' plight, try to better relations with Iran/Afghanistan/Bangladesh.

BJP has always been anti-Pakistan. It's how they win their elections.

IK might have a better chance once the Congress party wins. Till then he should focus on other important matters.

The Congress, you mean like Indira Gandhi who actually divided the country while the BJP celebrates a "surgical strike" ?

It's not a matter of Congress or the BJP but of Hinduism.

Childish response by Imran. Modi is well within his right to decline any invitation - that does not make him a 'small man'.

Furthermore, he also needs to understand that there cannot be any peace talks with India as long as we do not stop fighting the war of Kashmiris. It is India's internal dispute and we should not be poking our green nose in Kashmir.

Stop funding insurgencies and terrorism in Kashmir and get your troops out of there, and India will be more than willing to engage in peace talks. However, that is against the interests of the military (the actual rulers of the country) and Imran cannot dare to defy them if he is to keep his office.

You cannot have peace talks with India or any other country on your terms and by making irrational demands. Pakistan's idea of resolving issues with India, i.e. ceding control of J&K will never come to fruition, so the ball is in Pakistan's court now.

They have to decide whether they want continue to fight this win-less and fruitless war that has yielded zero benefit to Pakistan over the last 70+ years, and has been nothing but an economic and political burden, or swallow their pride and withdraw their soldiers and freedom fighters (terrorists) and start a new chapter with India that can actually benefit Pakistan greatly. Hollow pride will not take any country anywhere, and it has certainly not taken Pakistan anywhere.

Nonetheless, any government that tried to initiate peace talks with India before the elections was dubbed "Modi ka yaar". What has changed now?

Our Khalifa has only just returned from KSA with a new deal, so we can forget about bettering our relations with Iran. Relations with Afghanistan depend on our relations with India. They have better sense than us and have better judgment, which is why they have done the right thing by choosing India's friendship over ours.

As far as Bangladesh is concerned, we can also forget about improving our relations with them as long as Sheikh Hasina/BAL is in power. They will never forget the injustice that was served to Mujibur Rahman.

Pakistan cannot seem to broker any peace or cordial relationships with any of its immediate neighbors*.

What does that say about our foreign policy? Our history is littered with picking up fights and battles that we should have avoided, and making enemies that should have been our friends, and that is why we are what we are today.

* We are Mr. Goody Two-shoes with China, but it is more of a colonial relationship rather than an even friendship.

Great by IK. He has realised what most of us know that the Inds are scared to talk and have no interest in peace. Modi is beholden to the BJP fascists and as several Ind newspapers pointed out, Ind govt is confused and doesnt have a policy.

So you are supporting Modi when even the Inds are confused by Modis policy.

Balancing Iran/Saudi Arabia will be the main issue, Afghanistan/Bangladesh can be win over using Islamic brotherhood-based clever diplomacy over the longer run, their relations with India is as cosmetic and superficial as it's temporary if you dig deeper (Bangladeshis are very religious and will not keep playing with an increasing Hindutvadi India, while with Afghanistan you have an anthropological factor as well, the semi-nomadic/pastoral Pashtun has always looked at the Indo-Gangetic plain as a laboratory for depredation and war, it's deep in their psychology, they can't see them at the same level as the Hindoo).

On the other hand with Hindustan there's a deep ideological enmity (Two-Nations-Theory) which can never be resolved.

Despicable post.

I am from Kashmir which is a disputed territory getting brutalised by Indian occupation. We have a right of self determination: who are you to tell us that we do not have this right? Most of us believe in unity with Pakistan. It is Pakistan’s right to stand for the people of Kashmir.

Pakistan has stopped funding in Kashmir valley. As a Pakistani you should be ashamed of yourself.

I suggest you either stop talking about Kashmir on our behalf or educate yourself. Also educate yourself on Kunan Poshpora.

Another thing mods; this is meant to be a Pakistani forum, and having Indians masquerading as Pakistanis and openly talking inhumanly about Pakistan and Kashmir valley is unacceptable.

Mamoon likes to be liked by Modi's acolytes on the forum. And the irony is that if Modi had called for talks, and IK had done this, idiots like him would be going ballistic at IK for failure to grab the opportunity.

imran doesn't know diplomacy or statesmanship, which requires patience and tact. he is another politician whose statements are meant to play to the galleries. he is pakistani modi.

Small man :)))

So true.... shaba Immy

What a poor rubbish post. Do you even understand the state of kashmiri people before posting such garbage?

I think this came after India's Imran Khan is a 'puppet of army' remark, delusional people never listen. This is the man entire country is behind even more now after taking office, even army can't do anything if it wanted, the entire country would come out in the streets for him. I think things have to get a lot worse before they can get better again for India Pak relation.

You must be living in 62 then, we have moved on. Nations grow with time and it's sad that such a MASSIVE country is refusing to grow up thanks to it's leaders. Only hope is Congress taking over India to take this process forward. India is not an election issue in Pakistan but looks like Indians are overly obsessed about Pakistan, even a peace talk is big threat to their election campaign (which is probably still many months away).

I don’t understand why anyone respond to someone who pretend to be an Idiot to get the response.

Sure this person has lots of posts under his belt but when trolling, simply ignore.

IK has responded responsibly to the radicalized extremists religious leader of India who only want to win election by toeing the line of Anti-Pakistan and Anti-Muslim.

Imran shouldnt have made this statement.

Modi has an election coming up, obviously he cant receive Pakistani invitations for peace talks, other wise he may lose a large section of his voter base.

Imran should have waited until after the elections when Modi has more political capital, to initiate peace talks.

Or at least not made these statements right now.

Anyways, this is expected from India.

Pakistan should and must have responded to childish and immature excuse by Indian diplomat for cancelling the meeting.

IK did well.

Pakistani posters are ruing the missed opportunity of 62 in 2017-18, and you are accusing me of living in 62?

Don't care about the politics, just wanted to expose the myth of peace loving Pakistanis you were peddling

No.

He is blaming Modi for not having a vision.

Imran should have seen the bigger picture himself.

You make a peace invitation, if the other person cancels it then atleast you showed you tried for peace. Then you try for peace again in the future.

Burning bridges down, but attacking modi directly is not seeing the larger picture.

Now Modi, who is guaranteed to win the next election will have a personal axe to grind with Imran because of these comments.

Need to keep things professional.

Imran should not turn into Donald Trump running Pakistan from his personal twitter account.

Make statements like these through SMQ, this is what hes there for.

I am glad that Khan sahab has realized this early in his tenure. He should be under no illusion that India wants peaceful relations and a stable Pakistan. Instead, they want to deflect the real issue of Kashmir by maintaining a certain amount of tension with Pakistan at international level. Indian army chief's recent statements in this context are interesting.

Pakistan can stand up for itself and continue to engage in Peace talk.

Hoping for peace talk does not mean lose self-respect and forget about standing up for oneself.

Stop confusing engaging peace talk and respect.

Standing up for oneself is not the same thing as making personal remarks against someone else.

Dont confuse the two.

Like I said he burnt down the Modi bridge, who will be in power for the next term.

So, things were already bad, Imran's peace initiative just made it worse.

Might as well have not even attempted to make peace, that would have been better than this.

Burnt down Modi bridge? lol

It's politics, bridges are burnt and made every day.

Standing up for self and country at a particular moment matter.

Like I have said, Stop confusing the two.

IK has responded well.

I don't think this tweet was appropriate for a prime Minister of Pakistan.

There is no way those Indians who are ridiculously sensitive that a hug is seen as treason would take such words lightly. If we really long for peace there is no point in adding fuel to a burning fire. Patience was required.

^^ Example of chotay log, but we all already knew that IK is not saying anything new.

Poor Imran Khan. He thought he was entitled to have his proposal accepted. Just liie most on this thread. He realised this isnt how diplomacy works so now he throws his toys out of the pram.

Good that Modi rejected this man and his arrogant sense of entitlement.

Agreed.

Remember Modi going to Bangladesh when Nawaz was PM and took credit for breaking Pakistan. He then proposed peace talks and then went to Afghanistan where he made some highly insulting statements against Pakistan openly claiming they want to isolate Pakistan and then on the way back he stops over in Lahore for a quick visit.

Those criticizing IK's tweet about "small men" should first watch/read the PC of Indian MEA where Imran was directly attacked. Where in the world diplomats come up with statements like the one used by Indian MEA?

Imran should not do a peace deal with india, they are not worth our time and can never be trusted. Their mindset has always been backward.

Lol. Even before the Modi govt cancelled the talks i had posted here on PP regarding how useless these talks were.

What the Indian govt did was its right. Imran Khan must strive to have a bigger heart and learn that other countries do not run according to his whims.

Calm down buddy!

IK purposed peace dialogue, didn't tell Modi to come have immediate talk but we all know why you had to go where you try to make it look like IK try to force Modi.

Stop intentionally trying to mix the two. You aren't fooling anyone.

And what you believe or say does not matter on any Pakistani forum, you are only one vote out of billions.

Imran is a true leader and a great human being. He wanted to bring both nations together not for himself but for the people of both countries. He had no choice but to offer peace.

Now he has done his bit and should forget about India, leave them to the Pak army who know how to deal with the hostile enemy neighbour and concentrate on domestic issues.

His tweet couldn't be more accurate. Modi and Indians are small in every way, heart and courage.

He is only diplaying his frustration. As he knows that he doesnot have the military or economic or diplomatic might to do much againist India. So all he can do is tweet.

As they say, with great powers, come greater responsibilities.

But Khan is not a leader just, he is PM. Should behave like a PM, and not always like a leader. But again, all his life, Khan has challenged the norms, got challenged back and mocked, and have won invariably.

Recently, after Khan's election victory, there was a column by a pak cricket writer and he claimed no one , both admirers and critics, can claim to have known the real Imran.

Damnnnn shots fired!

Khan ain't a afraid of no one :ik

Trump would need a full day to tweet something this articulate. Trumpian response would be:

The Crazy Hindu guy should stick to customer service and kwiki marts. Let someone with a brain run the country. The United States still still considers India an ally but they need us, we don't need them

Great post

The "larger picture"??? The real "larger picture" is that NS tried to improve relations with India and the Pakistani Army foiled him by supporting IK's agitation. NS had to compromise with the Army as a result, and hand over foreign policy making to the Army (that is continued low-level war with India) as a result.

IK is well advised to achieve something for Pakistan if he can (given the limits imposed on him by the Army). Insulting leaders of neighboring countries may get you a few votes, but will only put your country into a deeper hole.

NS wasn’t negotiating, he was lying down.He couldn’t bring himself to condemn Yadav and you expect soldiers on the front line to trust him?

A hole in which a country seeks its 13th bailout from the IMF while having the following exports profile:

What should I preach to Modi? India has forex reserves of $400B+ and the following exports profile:

This is borderline treason. I hope if you are a Pakistani the authorities are keeping an eye on you, a perfect candidate to work for the enemy.

I am loyal to Pakistan which is why I want us to stop wasting our resources in Kashmir. It has not benefited us in anyway. We need to leave India and the people of J&K sort it between themselves. However, that would require diplomacy that is not riddled with emotions and rhetoric. I wonder how much more this war will cost us before we finally realize that we should not be interfering in this.

NS wasn’t negotiating, he was lying down.He couldn’t bring himself to condemn Yadav and you expect soldiers on the front line to trust him?

The best things Pakistan can do to improve its economic situation:

1) Stop the Army from looting the country by dominating the economy.

2) Build trade relations with India.

That is what NS was trying for. Yadav and other similar issues are minor.

Parroting what the Indians says about Pakistan is not loyalty but taking their side. How do I know or anyone on here know you're Pakistani because you dont sound like one? What would give you some legitimacy in your views would be to condemn Indian atrocities in Kashmir, condemn Indian backed terrorism in Pakistan and condemn them not for wanting any peace talks. You wont because you love India more than Pakistan.

Not surprising that India rejected meaninless "talks". India does now want to waste its time and distract from Pakistani-sponsored terrorism on its soil. IK does not have any real power. The Pakistani Army is determined to keep the low-level war with India going. If this war ended, the Pakistani Army would lose power domestically, they wouldn't be able to keep ripping off the Pakistani citizens.

While waiting for their 13th IMF bailout, if the Pakistani citizens are still not able to understand why their economy is in shambles then there really is no hope for them.

What a poor rubbish post. Do you even understand the state of kashmiri people before posting such garbage?

I have my fully sympathies with the people of Kashmir and I hope they get what they want. However, their sufferings are not Pakistan's problem and it is not a war that we should be fighting for them. We have wasted too much resources on this win-less battle over the last 70+ years and we should refrain from making the same mistakes in the future.

J&K is not our responsibility. Please try to understand that.

A hole in which a country seeks its 13th bailout from the IMF while having the following exports profile:

What should I preach to Modi? India has forex reserves of $400B+ and the following exports profile:

I'm sure those 400 billion foreign reserves came in handy in providing for the hundreds of millions of poor and hungry in India.... Oh wait :broad

Never forget that India has more poor people than Pakistan has people before showing your billions.

Another sign of small men is to bring money and riches in discussion.

Parroting what the Indians says about Pakistan is not loyalty but taking their side.

This is the sort of mentality which has led Pakistan to the sorry situation it is in now.

The question you should be asking yourself is not whether "Is Mamoon repeating things Indians are saying?".

The question you should be asking yourself is whether "Is what Mamoon saying right?"

If you reflexively reject everything Indians say, then Indians would say things to improve Pakistan and you would...

If you believe this , why do you spend time talking to Pakistanis? Have you no shame your countrymen are being killed by Pakistani terrorism but you love a good chit chat with the enemy?

who told you that? Modi sent you a letter?

You have no idea what you are talking about but you do sound like an Indian media.

Mamoon likes to be liked by Modi's acolytes on the forum. And the irony is that if Modi had called for talks, and IK had done this, idiots like him would be going ballistic at IK for failure to grab the opportunity.

Imran probably still thinks he is at the top of a container abusing. This was very unprofessional behaviour and clearly not worthy of a PM. Using such uncouth language is totally against diplomatic norms.

However, he is called Pakistan's Trump for a reason. His Twitter feed will increasingly look like Trump's with the passage of time.

Yes

No he's not right. It's only the Indian narrative. Indian army is much more involved in terrorising human beings.

You and him may be fooled into believing ** but not everyone else is, remember this.

With 7 times the population it is hardly surprising that India has more poor.

The areas of India that are geographically and ethnically similar to Pakistan (Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal, Gujarat etc.) have more than three times Pakistan's per cap GDP. If you continuing denying the reality that your country is being held back by the domination of civil affairs by the Army, you will continue exporting soccer balls and textiles till eternity.

The best things Pakistan can do to improve its economic situation:

1) Stop the Army from looting the country by dominating the economy.

2) Build trade relations with India.

That is what NS was trying for. Yadav and other similar issues are minor.

You have a banya/Hindu materialistic mentality, you base everything on economy, if Bhagat Singh followed your mindset he would have negotiated with the largest empire of its time, which was both an economic and technological/cultural powerhouse, instead of seeking "independence", and if Pakistanis follow your mindset they better become an official satellite of China (as Indians basically think).

Kashmiris are basically stranded Pakistanis, an unfulfilled agenda of the Partition. You don't see Pak going to war for Junagadh, Hyderabad, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, etc basically everyone more or less agree that the Kashmir issue is bilateral (between Pak and India that is, who thus talks of "PoK"), but India only wants to talk of "terrorism" with Pak, ignoring its State-terrorism on the Kashmiris, and fear that such talks would ultimately lead to Kashmiri independence.
