Seriously this is getting worrying now.

Shaheen is the only one who gets regular breakthroughs. Hasan is better than the rest but he is not at that 2017 level.

Amir, Junaid, Abbas, Fahim - these guys just don’t look threatening or penetrative. Surely worrying signs before the World Cup ?

One of Amir or Junaid will make it.

Abbas was never in contention.

Faheem is a support bowler, so expecting him to be your strike bowler is not smart.

Sharjah’s wicket isnt supportive as we can also see from Coulter-Nile’s stats in this match and Richardson’s in the last match.

Things will change in Abu Dhabi however I am worried of planning and tactics on display.

Amir is going no matter what they tell you.

Amir is a big tournament player just like Shikhar Dhawan. England is his yard and it will be foolish to not play him in his yard. :inti

I don't think this time he can make any impact in England with his 126 kph thunderbolts. In the past used swing the ball at 140+ kph which is why he was successful.

The conditions in the Emirates have been the same for the last 40 50 years of international cricket. You are going to get slow low pitches, no conventional swing either.

However, Pakistan was able to defend lowish scores all the time. 250+ used to be a fighting score, with 280+ being an excellent score, and 300 being neigh unchasable.

So what happened? Has the standard of bowling declined alarmingly? Has batting improved drastically?
NO

2 New Balls is what happened to ODI cricket. Pakistan would never get convential swing at Sharjah, But Pakistan could get the ball to reverse, and by the 35fth over, the bowlers would then be encouraged to bowl stump to stump and bowl the opposition out.

Now with 2 new balls, there is nothing for the bowlers, no convential and no reverse. the faster you bowl, the faster it will reach the boundary.
The game is now won and lost by batsmen. And Pakistan does not have the batting to post 350+, that the likes of Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies have.

The mood of PP tells me that PSL is over and we are back to normality.

How on earth did you pick Junaid as toothless when he hasnt played an international match since the Bangladesh Asia cup match?

He is our second best bowler after SSA. Let the guy play and then call him that.

Why is between Amir and Junaid?

It should be SSA, Hassan, Junaid, Amir/Faheem (anyone who calls him an all rounder deserves a thrashing)/Shinwari/Abbas

What would the Big 5 pacers do in these wickets where there is nothing on offer. Simple, bowl with discipline, bowl defensively, conceede less runs as possible and induce batsmen to throw away their wickets under pressure and they carry the confidence that they have the batting to chase down most scores. This works against Pakistani batsmen

Sadly Pakistani bowlers can't be economical, can't get wickets, can't bowl to their fields or to any plan. Honestly speaking Pakistan should just try chasing.

Also, we don't have that lethal combo of Afridi/Ajmal/Hafeez anymore. :(

Whilst the pitches are not great at all, Aus didn’t have any trouble chasing the targets in both matches. You except a few wickets but Aus cruised home in both.

To expect pacers to run through the sides in these conditions was smocking crack, they needed to bowl with discipline and keep things tight. Our pathetic spin bowling has been even more shocking.

Abbas and Shinwari are not in contention, so leave them out of this.

Shaheen and Hasan are your best pace bowlers. Faheem is consistently being used as a first change/support seamer. So that's three names confirmed.

Now, Amir has been in woeful bowling form and Junaid has been plagued by niggles since the past year. Hasnain has probably put his name in the hat, but his induction depends upon how he goes in the rest of the games. One out of these three will make it to the World Cup.

Hopefully he gets 3 games to prove himself then. We definitely need to see all our options because at the moment, the cupboard looks pretty bare

I would go with junaid, shaheen, Hasnain, hasan and Shadab and leave amir out. Try Hasnain in games against weaker oppositions and if he does well and either one of junaid, Hassan and shaheen are struggling, put Hasnain in.

I have a feeling Amir will be a dud in the World Cup if we pick him.

Bring Haris Rauf, Umer Khan and Musa Khan/Nasim Shah drop Amir, Fahim, Abbas and Yasir will certainly improve our bowling.
Batting wise drop Imam and Umar Akmal, Abid Ali and bring Saud, Zeesan (If performs great) and Saad Ali will improve our batting.
We will do far better than current bunch.

Pakistan desperately need bowlers who can strike upfront and take at least a couple of wickets in the first 15 overs. Time to open the bowling with Shaheen and Hassan, enough of Aamir and Imad.
