Arsenal FC | 2025/26 Season

Good win again last night. Another clean Sheet get through Sunderland and regroup.
Saka and Rice should not be in the England squad for pointless games they are not needed.

Also @Amjid Javed @topspin @IMMY69 @aboveandbeyond . I am going to take a break from this Forum. I have had enough of taking the effort posting something only for it to be deleted or edited because certain Mods cant take the banter or don't want their club being spoken about.

Peace

They need bringing back down to earth, the Mackems I work with have been insufferable

Merino to score with a Xhaka sending off would do nicely

So finally it's coming to Emirates....🤔

The way Arsenal are behaving at the moment reminds me very much of the Arsene Wenger teams I won three Premier League titles with.

In those teams, it was done from a strong base and Mikel Arteta's side has got a similar look about it, very similar characteristics, if not better in some ways.

The Gunners have only lost one game in all competitions and have conceded fewer goals than any other Premier League team.

They have the most clean sheets so far this season across all competitions and have won all of their past eight games without conceding.

Arteta's men have faced 75 shots in the Premier League this season - 19 fewer than any other team - and conceded only three goals.

There's a passion to defend as much as there is to score goals with this Arsenal team. I am seeing what I saw in the past. It had disappeared and now it's all coming back again.

Arsenal should never lose this DNA again, because they lost it for too long. The best way to keep it is to win something, to keep everyone together and that secures the future.

You have to live it, breathe it, keep it, eat it. Nothing else matters more, and it just becomes a part of your character and your personality. It's like a badge that you walk around with. It can take quite a few years to get to to that boiling point. And that's where Arsenal are now.

They just have to keep a lid on it.

The teams I lifted the top-flight title with in 1998, 2002 and 2004 all have something in common with Arteta's current side - all of them have suffered the pain of not winning something.

In 1998 we had gone six years without a title. In 2002 it came after we finished second behind Manchester United for three years in a row and again before the 2004 'Invincibles' season.

This team has finished runners-up for three successive seasons and it's a collective thing, the energy that comes out of defeats, you get to the stage where you're so incensed and so motivated to try to win.

It was mentioned to us that we were second best as a group because we kept coming second to Manchester United.

That breeds an inner feeling of 'over my dead body, this will not happen again, we're going to make sure we win this'. I can see all the similarities with this group.

The mentality changes when you see other teams picking up trophies and you're subjected to everybody else winning silverware, and the only thing you don't have is that same celebratory feel that comes at the end of any success. Those first photographs, they're not there yet.

You're not going to stop until that changes, until trophies start coming through the door.

It just sort of galvanises you and I'm seeing all of that now. It's like a fight breaks out, and there's three people that turn up at the fight.

It's maybe the wrong terminology to use, but you're never on your own. You never look around and think 'I'm in trouble here'. There's always somebody who has your back because they're all of the same mentality, all of the same mindset.

Two or three years ago, I thought we're back in the fight again. Arteta has got that Arsenal fight. It had disappeared, that DNA disappeared and since Mikel came in, he has done a magnificent job of changing the culture.

I think there's been an internal fight for places that's made everybody go that little bit extra to add to the mix.

Gabriel looks like he's a leader. Declan Rice looks like he's a leader. I think Gyokeres looks a character. You want personality. You want character.

I remember the dressing room under Wenger and the pinnacle of that group - there was such an aura about the group, and there were so many leaders.

I can't chose between Sol Campbell and Tony Adams, Lauren or Lee Dixon. It's like asking me to choose between siblings. All I can tell you is every one of those was affected by the other, and all of them took that baton and that mood and that behaviour.

Some people, like maybe Nwankwo [Kanu] would only speak occasionally, but when he did, everybody listened because it really was impactful. I probably would have been more vocal than most. Everyone spoke. Everybody cared.

1-0 Sunderland, poor defending.

Was a good volley

Sunderland have made it very tough so far 🤦‍♂️

Midfield 3 have been awful so far, losing 50:50s and not moving ball quick enough

These newly promoted teams tend to defend their socks off. Arsenal will still find a way through second half.
Sunderland haven't just defended, they have won midfield battle. They are creating chances as well.

Trossard has been awful. Rice and Zubimendi woeful in midfield

Need to get Nwaneri or Dowman on

We were so much better in the second half, passed it around quicker and created plenty of chances... got a little unlucky otherwise could have been out of sight...

All in all though, a fair result... Sunderland will take some beating at home and I'm sure they'll take points off bigger teams, unless they start picking up injuries....

1st half we got bullied to much and Zubimendi, Rice and trossard were poor 1st half. They were excellent 2nd half though.

Going to defensive at the end cost us, both goals we conceded were from sloppy defending.

But yeah in end fair result.

This is why the saltyLiverpool fans saying it was over after 10 games, need to realize all teams will drop points like Arsenal did today

I thought we were going to nick it at the end but that was some save + block.

Well played Sunderland. That was one serious examination.

As controversial as it sounds, I don’t think it’s the worst point in the world. Stadium of Light is a fortress and I can Sunderland beating a lot of big teams at home.

Arsenal needed that third goal to seal it when they had that phase of domination in the second half.

I just wish Arteta made better use of his subs.

Exactly what I was thinking during the game.

5yrs time is ticking for arteta

Irony of arteta being sacked after slots show this season 😄

Arteta will definetly be sacked if the league is not won hes had 5yrs to build his team and this is the best chance since their rivals have been hit and miss this season.

The fact that Liverpool or City or both will drop points tomorrow, means that atleast we have gain a crucial point today.

There will be plenty more games like this during season

We now play Spurs, Bayern and Chelsea in space of a week at end of month. So we will need to up our performances.

Hopefully we’ll have Gyokeres, Martinelli, Ode, Havertz and Madueke back after the international break because Arsenal are seriously short of options off the bench.

Yeah we do need players back, at same time we did have a good enough team to try and win today.

With 3 big games in a week. Arteta will need to get the team selections right in all 3, also players need to be have good fitness when they do comeback

I think the title is Arsenal’s to lose. Even this so called slip up, Sunderland at home is very difficult and they had to play out their skin to grind a result.

The title will come down to whether Haaland can drag his team to the title. It’s actually mad how one guy as young as him too can be easily the most dominant player in the premier league. We don’t even need to debate who will be the best striker each season as we already know who it’s going to be.

City’s main improvement is their midfield, they aren’t losing the ball as they did way too often last season. Haaland is a threat but needs possession to make runs and get on the end of crosses . City are superior to Liverpool and Arsenal in creating chances . It is Arsenals to lose , the only way they will lose it will be lack of goals. City , Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Spurs and even the likes of Palace have better strikers .

We need players back from injury asap. Having 7 players out is not ideal at all.

Sunderland were able to bring on 3 fresh attacking players. Bringing on Madueke and even Kai would have killed the game.

Merino had a golden chance in the end, points were there for the taking but boy are Sunderland good at home. They were pumped up. Any team that grabs 3 points at Stadium of light should be very proud.

Both goals came from one man’s i.e., Ballard’s extraordinary physical ability. First goal, Rice couldn’t compete with him and second Zubi was ‘marking’ him. Both times he just brushed aside these Arsenal players. Arsenal are a physical team and Sunderland beat them (drew against them) by being more physical. As posters have said, it’s not a bad point this season but we could have avoided the second goal by keeping possession at the end. Xhaka was looking really good for them too.

Arteta could have brought Nwaneri or dowman on, it's the whole purpose of having a squad. Simply bring 1 defender on and going defensive, when Sunderland were being so attacking, was always asking for trouble.

In the end a point was fair result

Nah, they wouldn’t physically be able to cope against Sunderland. I’d have brought on Skelly in midfield and probably one of Hincapie or Ben White to isolate the wide areas because it was so obvious Xhaka was trying to break the lines through the flanks which also led to them getting throw ins. Oh well, fair result in the end.

Need key players, regroup and go on a winning run, rough fixtures ahead.

Amjid will you now make your prediction?

Guy is crawling after another Liverpool win but still has now confidence in his own team ? Lol

Will Arteta win the PL this season , yes or no ?

I made my prediction at start of season, that's why it's called a before the season prediction.

I'm not making predictions on title race every week.

What I will predict is that will be hiding even more as this season goes on.

I missed it , what was it ?

If you can’t back your team now , fans in Peshawar are more loyal

After the international break a lot of attacking options return. I am wondering what Arsenal’s best front 6 would be if everybody is available.

I think there is consensus on back 5 and Arteta has made clear his trusted choices. Gyo, Zubi, Rice and Saka are confirmed starters too.

So thinking what’s the best LW and No. 10 pairing from Martinelli/Trossard/Madueke and Eze/Odegaard

Odegaard in midfield and Eze on left wing might be the most creative pair in my opinion but Trossard on left and Eze at no 10 have been impressive so an exciting conundrum once everybody is back.

Havertz, Martinelli, Jesus on the bench (if that ever happens) is gonna be a sight.

Arsenal defender Gabriel out for weeks - Arteta

Arsenal defender Gabriel will be unavailable for "weeks" after sustaining a thigh injury on international duty, says head coach Mikel Arteta.

The centre-back limped off in visible discomfort during Brazil's friendly against Senegal at Emirates Stadium last weekend and was ruled out of the draw against Tunisia three days later.

The 27-year-old has been in fantastic form for the Gunners, being a key part of a defence that has conceded just five league goals so far this season as they have opened a four-point lead at the top of the table.

"Gabi is going to be out for weeks," said Arteta, who added that the defender will have another scan next Wednesday, which should give a clearer timeframe of how long he will be out for.

Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera are both in contention to deputise for Gabriel when Arsenal host rivals Tottenham on Sunday (16:30 GMT).

Must win vs spurs, won't be easy but we need to take 3 points

Would you have Hincapie or Mosquera at LCB?

I think Arteta will go with Hincapie because from what I've seen, he's very single minded on having a left footer at LCB and right footer at RCB.

I'd go mosquera, he's played RCB and LCB in La liga. Plus he's played some PL games as well. Hincapie still needs to adjust to PL, we can't take that risk tomorrow. I hope Arteta gets selections right. He could also play calafori LCB and hincapie or LMS left back

I think the fixtures have been kind to City, they still look very vulnerable

Even against Everton they should really have been a goal or two behind

The next 4 league matches will tell us a lot about if City are going to genuinely challenge, I'm not sure they get more than 7 from their next 12

They only took 6 points from those fixtures

Whilst I wouldn't fully rule them out I think the vulnerabilities they have is too much for them to win it

They've already lost 4 games in the league and it isn't even December, teams that lose that many games so soon tend not to win the league

I completely agree. I would rather have Mosquera starting next to Saliba. I like what I've seen from Hincapie but he's not had enough game time, so it would be more of a risk for him to fill Gabriel's boots.

You called it.

Do you think Chelsea can challenge for the title?

You called it.

Do you think Chelsea can challenge for the title?
I think they can stay within a reasonable distance but won't get close enough to Arsenal to really threaten

Their next 3 fixtures are

Arsenal (H)
Leeds (a)
Bournemouth (a)

They'll beat Leeds, not convinced they win the Arsenal or Bournemouth game, that would then put them far enough behind

Win all 3, especially with one of them being Arsenal then I'll have to reconsider and recognise them as serious challengers

You called it.

Do you think Chelsea can challenge for the title?
Chelsea have one of the best midfielder in PL interms of quality players they can call upon. Up front they have a good pool of good players to choose from.

Their weakness is at CB and goal keeper. If you put saliba, Gabriel and Raya into the the Chelsea team, they would be capable of winning league.

They aren't to far off having a complete squad, most Chelsea fans (including my best mate whose a Chelsea fan) are frustrated that their board has addressed these areas in recent transfer windows.

Right now they are short of quality in those areas

@Amjid Javed Its ok you've been spending most of your time drawing cartoons of LFC, you may not be up to date with this news.

Sometimes it's best to wait until the end of the weekend before posting you bellend.

Arsenal's Eberechi Eze speaking to Sky Sports: "That's a good one man. Enjoyable day. Happy to help the team and to win today was a special.

"It's special. I am grateful. I prayed for it. This is what I pray for. I prayed for a hat-trick so I am grateful to God.

"That was the prayer today. God gave it to me and that is faith, man. All my family is here and that makes it even more special for me."

Pick of the goals? "They are all good. Maybe the second one. That was my favourite. All of them are good for me because I have been working on the process to get in that position so that's good again."

Just how does it feel? "It is special. Words can't explain this one today."
