What's new

Arsenal FC | 2025/26 Season

Honestly I don't even know who he was and what he did. Quite frankly I couldn't care less with their diversion tactics of Saka new deal and backroom staff leaving.

Just win games. That's what we care about.

The pile on this week has been somewhat justified but boy oh boy what a pile on. You'd think it was the last game of the season the way some are going on.
Yes it's probably Advantage city but their firm is patchy to.

What disgusts me the most lol is Liverpool and United fans supporting City.

Very odd behaviour if you ask me. But I guess for whatever reason they don't want Arsenal to win.

I swear if we pull it off its gonna be so sweeeet.
( same as it is for them if we don't)

When it was City vs Liverpool - CIty are 115 cheats, they have more money to spend etc..

When it's City vs Arsenal - you have certain Liverpool fans doing shajdas, extra prayers while at umrah for Man City

@MK7Z @topspin @IMMY69

Serious question, this season have you enjoyed watching games? Also when it comes to midweek or weekend do looking forward and go I can't wait to watch the match?

No need for getting emotional…banter/rivalry is part of the game. Most ppl in my circle do not want Arsenal to win the league…these are Villa/Tottenham/Utd/ fans. So it’s not just Utd or Liverpool fans.

I will be supporting Man City this week vs Newc simply because of the Newc fans behaviour during the Isak saga. Come on City!!!!

The irony 🤣🤣 of so called Newcastle fans in the isak saga. Yet same Liverpool fans who were calling Trent ATG PL right back and then calling him a snake and Rat.

Makes me laugh how hypocritical certain fans are

When it comes to Arsenal... Emotion left me a long time ago 😂

I try to enjoy the wins and get over the disappointments pretty fast.

Losing a UCL final does that to you.

I referenced this during the week. I don't enjoy the games anymore. When they are on I want them to end.

Previously I'd not want the game to end cos we were a joy to watch. Now it's just get the points and leave.

When you win playing the way we do you sorta have a reward for having to sit through it. When it's a loss or draw then just leaves you wondering why you bothered.

I've always found time to watch arsenal as its pretty much the only sport except UFC I follow so I'll still always watch the games.

Aww are you upset because I am supporting Man City for this match?

You want us to lose because your club tapped up our player and then said player proceeded to behave like a scumbag? Makes sense

Though, tbf I was over the moon when said player played like a donkey for months and Liverpool put up arguably the worst title defence in Premier League history. Come on Forest!!!!

Offended by everything. Ashamed of nothing

It's the Liverpool way

I don't think it's arguable tbh.
I can't think of any other title defence where the holders renewed 2 of they star players and then went on a spending spree where they spent the most ever spent in a single window.

It's not talked about enough. Anyway this is the Arsenal thread... I mentioned this in the pool thread and it was met with silence.

Trent honoured his contract until the very last day, contributed to their success and they gave him dogs abuse, only a telling off from Klopp calmed them down a bit and they want Newcastle fans to be cordial towards The Rat? What absolute bakwaas

Then again, this is the same club/fans that wore t-shirts in support of a racist

Aww are you upset because I am supporting Man City for this match?
I don't care who you support, clearly your part time supporters, as your so called 1st team is fighting Brentford to secure conference league spot.

Bet you can't wait to see wirtz, isak, salah vs Romanian bus drivers and slovian bin men

The Mother of all Bottle jobs. Then again im pretty sure UTD bottled a league in Fergies tenure as well
Biggest bottle job in PL history is united in 2012, thats a fact

8 point lead with just 6 games left.

United only needed 11 points from last 6 games to win the title, or even just 8 points from 6 they had drawn at the eithad.

That's the biggest points lead thrown away with least number of games left (6)

Agreed that's probably one that sticks out but to be fair to United and Fergie they dominated for years to come prior and won it the following season to make up for it.

I hate United especially Fergies United but I think their fans can probably forgive them for that season.

All big sides have bottled a league title at sumpoint.

For me the 2 most frustrating ones with Arsenal were 98/99 - we had a 2 point lead going into the last 2 games that season. We also should have beaten united in FA cup semi final when Bergkamp missed the penalty. We should have been looking at back to back doubles, instead united won a treble.

Same goes in 02/03 - throwing a 8 point lead in March, against a united side which wasn't that good. We should have been looking at winning back to back titles, and then ultimately 3 PLs in a row. Between 01/02 and 03/04 was probably strongest team we had.

Wenger should have really won 5 PLs early on. So yeah in terms of fergie 2012, if they hadn't lost to City im sure it they would have forgiven it

Yeah agreed its not the greatest watch at moment, even more so the manner in which team selections or the way we played espcially earlier in season vs liverpool and City. That cautious approach kind of sucks the enthusiasm out of you before a game

That's why I rate the Fergie vs Wenger over the Klopp vs Pep Era. Pep wiped the floor with them ultimately.

Where as fergie vs wenger was a proper hatred to go along with the intensity

Only consolation was 13 premier league titles in the Premier League era. I'd Take that any day

He owned the whole league

Rivalry wise I think the peak 7 years of it fergie won 4 and wenger won 3. After the invincibles we fell off.

My point was comparing it to Klopp vs Pep. In 7 years it's 6 vs 1... Not much of a rivalry.

💯 Pep v Klopp rivalry was completely overblown. Pep destroyed him.

Some (most) of the football Arsenal played in the PL this year has been dull and dour and that is Arteta’s style but most teams also play with tactics against Arsenal that make it difficult to play free flowing football. In CL, they have played with more flair.

Having said that, tomorrow’s match against spurs will be a lively affair. They’ve got a new manager and would like to prove a point after getting thrashed in the reverse fixture.

Klopp got a premier league and a champions league. That’s slightly better than 3 premier leagues at Arsenal. And wenger was there a far longer time.

Klopp got unlucky to have gone toe to toe with arguably the best premier league side of all time. Those sort of premier league totals would have won you the league easily most years. And if anything the difference came more down to squad depth. If Liverpool had the same squad depth I think they would have won. It was more a difference in squad depth and money.

What Klopp did with the budget he had was a miracle. And even then I chalk it more down to lack of funds the reason why he lost not being outhought by pep.

Arsenal are different. They have bottled the league multiple times when the opponents weren’t so good anymore. Dropping points by the boatload in the business end of the season. Errors leading to goal. And it’s not even the attack, it’s the defense doing the bottling who have been excellent up to recently. That is bottling. 2022/23 season is probably the worst bottle job in history, I think it set some sort of record.

Klopp is one of the best premier league managers in history. The fact he got so close to pep and pushed them so far is incredibly impressive.

1 PL title and is now one of best in history.

Apart from a better head to head with Pep in Games, Pep completely bossed him. Specially in the last 5 years

No I can't say I have enjoyed...

I'm sc glad I'm abroad and missed the Wolves game and will miss the NLD too..

Will be following the game from the corner of my eye...

Having watched the city game. I have to say it makes it even more frustrating that we've let them back in cos let's not pretend they are a good side either.

I'd lost a lot of confidence in the team after midweek but City just reminded me they are not gonna win 12 in a row. All is not lost.

They looked average in the 2nd half against an injury hit Newcastle who did alrite. A RB who is finished and both goals came from that side.

Don't forget the air miles they did midweek to.

This should have been a smoking if it was the big bad city everyone thinks they are. It wasn't it was 3 points which is all that matters

They deserved to win today but they were not massively better than us, usually we get battered at the Etihad yet we were in the game

And like you say they had the advantage of no game in midweek and even their game at the weekend was a training ground one whilst we had a tough game away to Villa Park

Timing is everything, if this game was next week instead of today I think we get a result

Tomorrow is a massive game for Arsenal, if they can get a dominant win it puts down a bit of a marker, Arteta needs to release the handbrake, if he doesn't then I can see you dropping points

Spot on. City are getting the rub of the Green at the moment. Arsenal must hang in there, im still convinced you guys can do this. Like you said, this is not City with the likes of Debryune Gundogan who controlled and suffocated all midfields

Arsenal take the lead, the man Spurs must hate Eze with the goal

Not the first time Arsenal have taken the lead, the issue is can then press on and score another

Another average performance so far, ball not being moved quickly enough in final 3rd.

The stupid goal we gave away didn't help either

Gyokeres been excellent tonight. As have most of the players in the second half.

Arteta deserves alot of credit after unnecessary criticism for Players making stupid school boy errors in recent weeks

All of Arsenal best performances this season when Eze has started and played in the 10. So no shock at the performance

Excellent 2nd half performance, after a 🐶💩 1st half.

Nothing better then giving them spanking home and away

Part of me is still annoyed at the wolves game I was calling for White or even Mosquera to replace timber and he didn't...

Anyway it is what it is. What's done is done

Good to bounce back after the miserable showing against Wolves in mid week.

Gyokeres and Eze were both excellent and I especially enjoyed the Swede's goals.

Arteta's decision to start Timber when he was already done is worrying and in my eyes, this sadly doesn't bode well for the rest of the season because it tells me he's still reluctant to rotate the squad properly.

Gyokores was brilliant today. The finishes were really good and clean, good positioning. Even the first one he missed you, he did well to get into a position to take the shot.

Been hating on him a lot, but he genuinely looked great today, the signing we all thought he was going to be. Hope he keeps it up.

Eze was really good too but we’ve always seen flashes of brilliance for him at both Crystal Palace and Arsenal. But Gyokores I wasn’t expecting that sort of performance for him and pleased to be proved wrong.

Second half was much better from Arsenal but they probably won't face an easier opposition than Spurs all season

Chelsea at home next, they really need to take the 2nd half performance into that game

not sure what the hoopla is all about the win over a bottom tanked team. What am I missing?

FTR, I'm an arsenal fan.

It's a local rivalry.
Spurs were expected to at least put up a fight with it being a derby. Form normally goes out the window.

Don't get me wrong we were strong favourites but there is always an edge to this game hence the " big game" vibe. Spurs had a chance to dent their rivals title hopes.

You from the UK?

Nope. Know about local rivalries and those games are tough regardless of record. But the trend of struggling to put away teams almost at relegation while arsenal is at the top is anooying

Barcelona the main big guns on Arsenal side of the CL draw. All other top sides in other half of the draw.

Other side of draw looks littered with dangerous sides

Screenshot_20260227_120201_Chrome.jpg

Great draw for Arsenal. Excellent chance of making the semis.

If Arsenal beat Leverkusen, I expect them to play Bodo in the QF. This won’t be an easy game. They’ve beaten City and Inter this season.

Should Arsenal get to the semis, I would expect them to face Barca.

In the semis I reckon it will be Arsenal v Barca and Bayern v Chelsea.

Final could be Arsenal v Bayern.

I think the other side of the draw to Arsenal is to difficult to predict.

City vs Real is 50:50 and winner of that will be tough for Bayern

Also Liverpool are better set up to play in Europe currently. So I'm just glad we aren't on that side of draw.

I can see Newcastle causing Barca problems on our side of draw. Barca are very good going forward, but aren't the greatest defensively.

Arsenal should be looking to get past leverkusen. If it is bodo glim, they won't be easy at all.

Arsenal’s best chance of winning the CL since 2004 when you look at the draw.
True. But even then whatever the draw was felt Arsenal would get knocked out early. Just weren’t a serious side in champions league that demanded respect. It actually feels really great to be competitive in champions league again. Actually see strong teams and actually think Arsenal can beat them.

Those days of only making top 4, just making up the numbers in champions league was dark days for the club. Made Arsenal forget how to win. Ruined the mentality of this club. But don’t blame wenger for that mostly, down to lack of investment in the squad in those days.

Need a big trophy win to restore that winning mentality. Whether Arteta does it or someone else. But it is exciting signs to see Arsenal back actually competing. That’s still improvement, and it feels awful close now. Still feel a big trophy is coming this season.

When we thrashed Bayern at home in the league stage Harry Kane, in his post match interview, said they look forward to meeting us again at a later stage..... so far it's panning out this way... fingers crossed

Got what you call luck of draw, now it's about making it count.

Have seen a lot of rival tears about Arsenals route... They seem to overlook the fact Arsenal went 8/8 they all had the same opportunity but didn't take it.

They call Arsenal bottlers and rubbish but cry when they get a lucky draw. If their rubbish and have no UCL legacy stop crying. You have nothing to worry about 😉

Bodo Glimt are sort of like a dark horse. They are certainly not to be taken lightly.

If Newcastle had Bruno G fit, I would give them a chance but their win % is significantly lower without him.

Speaking of Newcastle, what do you make of the rumours about us signing Anthony Gordon? I certainly don't want him. 3 goals in the PL this season. No thanks!

I disagree.

Wenger was a major reason for our poor Champions League performances. In the early 2000s, we were losing to teams like Dynamo Kyiv and Sparta Prague, and our away form in Europe was genuinely embarrassing.

His approach was far too single‑minded. The tactics were heavily attack oriented, built around the idea of simply outscoring the opposition. He rarely adapted to who we were facing and there was very little emphasis on defensive structure. The high line we insisted on playing made it easy for weaker sides to score against us.

One thing I appreciate about Arteta is that he’s built the team from the back. Any strong side needs a solid defensive foundation before you build up the midfielders and forwards.

In 2004, we had the Invincibles, who were easily the best team in Europe at the time. We should have beaten Chelsea. If we had, we would have faced Monaco in the semis, and I would have backed us to beat them. But I still think Mourinho would have tactically outclassed Wenger in the final.

And yes, the 2006 final was unlucky. With VAR, I’m convinced we would have at least have taken the game to extra time. But even with that in mind, reaching only one final was a significant failure on Wenger’s part.
