Arsenal’s strategic problems started when they wasted £100m on Rice in 2023. The English tax is real.

This guy is not worth 50m given his deeply mediocre ability on the ball. That money would have bought two top quality attacking players in 2023 and Arsenal would probably have been in a better position today than they are with Rice.

It was not a value for money signing. A 100m player needs to have the ability to turn the game on its head. He should be a match-winner.

Gyokeres is a proper striker. The problem is the midfield. They don’t create chances. £100m was spent on a rich man’s Henderson.

The midfield needs a reset otherwise Arteta will be forced to continue playing defensive football.

We don’t know much control he has over the transfers. This info is usually not public knowledge. Things have changed after Arsene left.

I will judge him for on-field performances only. I agree his football is turgid but it’s a consequence of the players that he has. He has not crippled world class ballers. He is maximizing their output because this team won’t even be in contention if they try to play se*y football.

There is no available striker in the market who will score more goals than him in this setup so I don’t think there is any need of going for a striker. The focus should be to invest in midfield and the LW role which has been dead for years.

Arsenal came close and had a coupe of great chances . They were not dominant but city has double the shots and 3 x more touches in the opposition box . Rodri and silva did control the midfield, just too good .

That's fair, I don't follow Arsenal enough to know what the situation is but from what I read and hear then he has a lot of control over transfers, and rightly so

Also, back in the summer you said this squad was the best squad, were you just being positive at the time or is it based on what you have observed this season?

Arteta definitely has influence in the market. He has been the manager for 6+ years and any long-serving manager has a voice in the market. However, they have Berta calling the shots as well as Josh Kroenke is involved as well, so we can’t say for sure that this is 100% Arteta’s team. It may as well be, but we can’t bet on it.

I was very confident with the midfield options before the season started but I am very disappointed with Rice as well as the impact Eze has made on the team. I was also expecting Odegaard to pick up his form this season but it hasn’t happened.

The midfield is in bad shape and makes it very difficult for Arteta to dominate the midfield against the best sides.

Finishing 2nd is better than 3rd, 4th, 5th etc, but it's not just about the final outcome. It's also about the brand of football that we're playing and Arteta's inability to develop the front 4 and rotate players.

The brand of football could be excused if we could win major honours. Arteta seems more interested in his attackers pressing and how the team as a whole is set-up off the ball.

Also, he's brought the wrong players. Key examples being Madueke and Havertz. Combined they have cost Arsenal in excess of £110m. Chelsea have taken the club for mugs.

Nwaneri is much better than Madueke but somehow Artera has sent him out on loan, when we needed him for the business end of the season.

All the signs are there that Arteta isn't an elite manager. He crumbles when he gets near the finishing line.

City will win the league and this will undoubtedly be the mother of all bottlejobs.

Arteta needs to be sacked now.

Havertz got a fluke goal, and was **** as usual, same goes for madueke.

Not really. By losing to Bournemouth we handed the initiative to City where it was in their hands and they were no longer required for us to drop points.

It should have never have got to that point had Arsenal beat Bournemouth at home.

Yes today it was still in our hands but it was also in cities. Had we beat Bournemouth we'd still have a buffer so the defeat today would not have been as fatal as it is
 
Whilst we all knew certain donkeys madeuke, havertz would be exposed again today and certain others odegaard would flatter to deceive. One player who was very poor was zubimendi, positional play was atrocious, essentially also went missing again when we needed to dictate play. In comparison look at how Bernardo Silva dropped deep, demanded ball, made tackles and demanded play. Yes zubimendi may be tired, but to many of the bigger games this season he's been fairly average

Arteta needed to switch it up but as we've known for years he doesn't have a Plan B or C.

The midfield that I would've liked to have seen was Rice play as DM with MLS as a number 8. May seem risky but Zubimendi was shattered. He's had all season to give MLS the chance to play him in his favoured box-to-box midfield role.

Zubimendi at international level is use to playing with ball progresses in front of him. At sociedad he had similar type players in midfield, like at Arsenal. So he should be use to different styles. Problem is, he's not use to the all the off the ball demands in this boring formation, yes he's been stifled, no freedom. Even jorghino who left, has come out and said he hated all extra information and demands Arteta gave him. There is no p plan B, players are just being forced into everything. Either listen to Mikel or you don't play, its just dictatorship which no winning pedigree. I can see players getting fed up of it, even though they won't say it. I think MLS, nwaeri will be gone in summer if this manager stays. Jorginho's comments about Arteta are quite telling. The last sentence summarises it perfectly. It's a dictatorship, so it's no wonder why Arteta turned down the chance to sign higher profile players. Like Aubameyang, there's no way, they would put up with this bs from the manager.

Just like with Saka, this is another player that Arteta is going to kill. Rice had a slow start last season because he had very little rest after playing for England, who went on to reach the final of the Euros in the Summer of 2024.

For the same reason, I fear Rice is going to struggle in the beginning of the 26/27 season.
 
Arsenal should go all out for Enrique.

Facts are if these players fail to win the title this year, They will rightfully be labeled as the ultimate Bottle Jobs. No ifs and buts. They have relinquished a potential 12 point lead in the space of 2 weeks!
 
The comical defense of the players makes me laugh. “They are fed up”. Of what? Of the fact that Arteta has put them in a position to win the league?

Arteta has not held their feet. He is not the one on the pitch. Arteta didn’t ask Gabriel to lose his head and get owned by Cherki or sleep on Haaland when he literally has one job to do in that moment.

“Rice is burnt out” no he is not. This is what happens almost every time he faces a technically high quality midfield. The fact is that Rice is extremely mediocre on the ball.

He has a heavy touch, his passing range is very limited and he cannot maneuver the ball in tight spaces. Arsenal are lucky that Barcelona are out of the UCL otherwise Pedri, Frenkie and Gavi would have made Rice look like a Championship footballer in the SF just like Vitinha, Ruiz and Neves did last year.

If Arsenal fail to win the league from here, it is down to the players. They are responsible for what happened yesterday and what happened against Bournemouth.
 
So now the two clowns are rallying around Jorginho’s comments. Same Jorginho they used to criticize for a living during his time at Arsenal and claimed that it was a mistake to sign him 🤣

Well yeah I guess these two were right for the first in their lives and it was indeed a mistake to sign this rat.

These shallow comments say more about Jorginho’s character than they do about Arteta’s style of management.

Same goes for someone like Aubameyang, who forced his way to Barcelona only to get booted out in 6 months before flopping at Chelsea and then ending up in the French league.

We need to understand the context of Jorginho’s comments. He is still holding a grudge for the fact that he got little to no playing time in his last season at Arsenal but it was for a good reason - his legs were gone.

He was always going to be a very short-term signing and he had already served his purpose. I was a big admirer of his football especially during his prime years.

I thought he was a wonderful player and largely understated too at times because clubs like Napoli and Chelsea weren’t the best fits for him, but these comments reflect very poorly on him.

However, they shouldn’t come as a surprise because Jorginho’s career already tells us that he is a shallow person. He grew up in Brazil until the age of 15 and still decided to play for Italy even though he had no ethnic connection to Italy and was only eligible to play for them because he moved to Italy at the age of 15 and spent a few years there.

That is quite a dishonorable thing to do, abandoning your country like this. Brazilian footballers are extremely patriotic and dream of donning the yellow jersey once in their lives and then we have Jorginho who decided that playing for Italy would be better for his career because he didn’t have the chops to compete for a place with Casemiro and Fernandinho.

Shameful.
 
The downfall started when Arsenal and Arteta screwed up 2nd half of League Cup.

Rest all screw ups including the league loss yesterday against City are the consequences of the League cup final loss.

The minute the Gunners started playing trash in second half of the League Cup, I knew we were going to throw it away again.

From leading and competing for the Quadruple in the last 4th of the season to possibility of not winning anything.

Only Arsenal are capable of such bottling.

What's worse is that we played anti-Wenger ball to get so far. Complete ultra utilitarian positional football.

If Arteta doesn't win anything this season, then he should respectfully leave and we should get Cesc.

Cesc understands Wenger's 'pass and move'
 
Arteta is essentially a poundland / Temu mourinho. He's best going to Rangers at end of season. Rangers are happy finishing 2nd every season with mediocre managers

It is the managers job to improve players, let them express themselves. His tactics have been off recently and he is yet to improve any attacking player we have - i'd go as far as saying they have regressed in attack over him.

tbh I wouldn't have gone as far as saying world class depth. However the above squad if managed correctly should have had the league wrapped up a while back. Instead the same players were run into the ground and the squad was not utilised .

MLS, Mosquera, White, Norgaard, Nwaneri should have been used more earlier on in the season.

When playing weaker teams a couple of the above to give rest to the main players would be enough to win those games as there would still be enough quality in the 11 to win.

Instead those players have had to come into games cold without minutes and looked out of their depth.

Again - it falls under management. But we are not allowed to criticize a manager

Our next game will be another big event. Newcastle at home. This is the only game we should be concentrating on.

I am calm bro lol. Think its just me and you who don't do headloss.

Never say never but the thing is it should have never come down to this which is the frustrating part. I mean only takes a draw for City and we have the advantage but I don't see us winning any games anytime soon. We are just shot.

If we play like we did yesterday moving forward maybe there is hope but then I think we have headless chickens on the wings who would be better off at KFC.

City are home to Villa on the last day - Unai will has UCL wrapped up and Europa league final that midweek so they'll probably throw that game away.

I just dont see city dropping any points and we dont have the firepower to blow teams away to increase our goal difference.

I am at peace with the fact it just wont happen for us....

Arteta was very lucky to get the job in the 1st place without prior experience. He came in as a novice. Lets be fair and say he got us competing again but there is only so much competing you can do before you have to admit you have reached your level and maybe winning the league in your first job is not for you.

He'll probably go on and get another big job somewhere and do well - however I can guarantee 1 thing. He wont get as long as he has at Arsenal.

Regardless of whether or not you win bro, the manager needs to be given the boot, he has managed to sabotage the clubs potential and your signature style of play; Arsenal thrives on the front foot, playing in a cowardly manner will impact the players psyche for years when under the pump in high octane games, Arteta has been managing Arsenal like you’re the Spurs

Just like when we bottled top 4 and 2 PL titles before. Its been the usual flogging key players till they are knackered. Then usual losing games in clusters at this end of season.

Common denominator in all failures is the manager. 15M a year for incompetence

I mean there’s a balance isn’t there because your club generally likes to give a manager a long run unlike any other club, while that can be refreshing in this era, you need to be firm & move on when things are not quiet working out.

I think the move would benefit Arteta as well, he’s too stuck in his ways, a change will help him figure out a system which suits him better when he really sits down & reflects on his stint with Arsenal. And maybe go somewhere with not as much pressure & scrutiny. Whoever steps in for Arsenal should be given a fair shake to because results might not come right away.

There was romanticism with Lampard & Chelsea, but they figured out quickly where he was and due to his history gave him a shot, but moving away allowed him to be the manager he is today. We know this ourselves when we hired Gerrard.

Both Arteta and Edu (when he was Sporting Director) were both recruited because they were deemed to be the best options out of the ex-players available. Neither of them were picked on merit.

Arsenal had the chance to appoint Klopp when Wenger's time was up but took too long to act and now the options have dried up.

I feel sorry for the likes of Saka, Rice, Timber, Saliba, MLS and Nwaneri. They deserve better than all this haram ball from Arteta.

Relying on set pieces and being bailed out from defence, GK and CMs was never going to be sustainable .

Outside of set pieces, they look toothless. There’s far too much emphasis on ball retention than creating chances.

People call it risk averse style of play but ironically Arsenal take more risks in their half and in their own box than they do in the final third.

100% spot on, the risks we are now taking defensively are being exposed. Our defense held up in 1st half of season, but not its wilting under pressure of carrying a team with a bottom half standard PL attack. A better manager would get more out of saka, gyokeres, Eze, dowman and ethan
 
Even Slot could win a PL title with Klopp's team and this fraud couldn't do it after 6 seasons and all the signings he wanted.

It is the managers job to improve players, let them express themselves. His tactics have been off recently and he is yet to improve any attacking player we have - i'd go as far as saying they have regressed in attack over him.

so the first half of the season was because of players and not manager as per your logic, but the second half actually the last quarter of the season is because of manager and not players.

Equal accountability. You can win the EPL title with jobbers aka Leicester, its about the players executing the manager plan. Arsenal players suddenly look out of touch, how is that the manager fault??

Arsenal is a jobber club also who somehow keep thinking they are in the leagues of Chelsea, United, Liverpool and City.
 
As much as I would not want City to win this one , as a Liverpool fan , I would rather arsenal not win it more.

Shame because I respected the heck out of arsenal when they were under Wenger. The kind of football that arteta employs doesn't deserve to win a league.

Arsenal currently have more major trophies in their history, then city and Chelsea so not sure what nonsense your spewing
