🤣🤣 exactly, I called him out mid-season over Arteta and asked him in regards to a trophyless season. Now he's making excuses as usual.

Then he thinks I'm going to waste my time wading through past posts for him

This fraud knows exactly what he said
As expected, as soon as I put you on the spot and asked to you to provide supporting proof that I promised to apologize if Arsenal don’t win a trophy this season, you have bottled it.

Certain mediocrity cheerleaders want justification by comparing to man utd, Chelsea etc last few seasons.. I don't give a 💩 bout those clubs

Between 1987 and 1994 - I've seen GG win 2 league cups, 2 titles, FA cup and euro Cup winners cup

Then seen wenger 98 to 2005 - win 3 PL titles, 2 doubles, invincibles, 4 FA Cup
Those who saw the GG era or the peak Wenger era or both should be appreciative of Arteta’s Arsenal because this is the first time in two decades that Arsenal are competing for the title.

How can you not appreciate the progress under Arteta when you look at where the club was when he took over?

Arteta is the only reason Arsenal fans are dreaming of winning the league again.

But but your ignoring me..

But but you need to apologize...

I judge Any manager at a big club on major trophies won league titles, in Europe, FA Cups

I would expect any manager being at a club for a few years to start delivering titles.

project ended when a team starts completing for titles, in case of Arsenal that was last season. Its time to deliver.

Arteta had failed to deliver major titles.

You have to take things into context.

Arteta took over Arsenal when they were at their lowest ebb in decades, and at the same time Pep’s FFP cheats were at the peak of their powers.

What Arteta has done at Arsenal is nothing short of a miracle. He spent less money than Chelsea and United and still managed to build a title challenging squad while the other two have stagnated massively.

Here is the best part. When Arteta took over, City already had a champion team with a world class squad in their prime. In spite of that, Pep has spent more money than Arteta and in spite of that, Arteta has managed to close the gap with Pep big time.

Any other manager in place of Arteta and Arsenal would still be laboring to a top 4-5 finish.

People like you call him a bottler and what not, but the fact is that he as surpassed your expectations and your denial will not change that.

Two years ago, none of you lot expected Arsenal to fight for the title in 2022-23 and 2023-24. People like you wanted him sacked in 2020 and 2021 period because you thought that he would never have Arsenal competing for the title.

Only last year, you and others claimed that he will never be able to compete with Pep tactically but this season, he has owned Pep in head to head games.

Does Arteta eventually need to take Arsenal over the finish line in terms of winning the league? Yes he does, but it is far too early to write him off as a nearly man because this is only the second season where he has a squad that is capable of winning the league.

There is no point in talking about four seasons because Arsenal was a work in progress in 2019-20, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 and needed the same type of open heart surgery that Ralf said United need and they still don’t know where to start.

Look at the Arsenal playing XI in Arteta’s first game in charge and look at it now. Look the stats of the team on both sides of the pitch then and compare it to now.

Look at how they play football on the pitch. Look at the results vs the likes of City and Liverpool then and now.

Arsenal went from a team that were on massive losing streaks to a team on massive winning streaks.

I will only question Arteta’s position if Arsenal go two more seasons without lifting the league title. 4 seasons of not winning the league when you are capable of winning the league would be a cause of concern, but it is way to early to press the panic button.

If Arteta could take Arsenal from where they were to where they are now, I have no doubt that he will take Arsenal from where they are and convert them into champions eventually.

It is laughable to suggest that he should be sacked at the end of the season. If Arsenal do that, they will shoot themselves in the foot and undo all the work they have done in the last 2 years.

Thankfully, the club understands what Arteta has done and where the club is going and they will give him a new contract just like they did in 2022 and when impatient and ignorant fans wanted him sacked.

Arsenal '100%' still in the race for Premier League glory, Mikel Arteta says

Mikel Arteta gives very little of himself away in interviews but what he makes no effort to hide is how much he wants this Premier league title.

It may not be in Arsenal's hands after slipping up against Aston Villa but the 5-0 bounce back against Chelsea this week was spectacular - and he still believes his team are "100%" in with a chance of being crowned champions.

The last time they lifted the elusive trophy was two decades ago in their "Invincibles" season when they went unbeaten in the league.

And the Gunners' boss says they have an "unbelievable desire" this time around to clinch the Premier League title once again.

Speaking to Sky News, Arteta said he was "really enjoying... fighting to win major trophies and being involved with the best teams in the world", as Manchester City and Liverpool battle it out with Arsenal at the top of the pile.

Despite it being a nail-biting finish to the season, Arteta said to avoid jangling nerves the team talks about "all the positive things" they have, saying: "We have earned the right to be here."

The Spaniard continued: "We can look from every angle, every stat, we deserve to be where we are and we've done it for nine months and we can do it for the last three weeks.

"It's on us and we're gonna make sure we can do everything that we can."

Arsenal have won the most games this season out of all the Premier League sides (24), scored the most goals in the division (82), and conceded the fewest (26) - but Manchester City are still title favourites according to football site Squawka.

Pep Guardiola's side have one game in hand over Arsenal, are one point behind and have a squad replete with talent.

But Arsenal too have a strong team and players from all positions scoring goals, as Arteta said they were not fatigued despite the intensity of the run-in.

He said: "When you are fighting for what we are fighting for there is no room for [tiredness]. I think if I ask any player, 'do you want to play?', they will be knocking on my door."

Arsenal play their biggest rivals on Sunday in Tottenham Hotspur, and Arteta said the match gives the team "extra motivation" given the fierce history of the fixture and how much it means to their fans.

Turning his attention away from football, Arteta admitted the title challenge has meant it's not been an "easy thing" to leave his work at the door.

But the 42-year-old former Arsenal midfielder says his family, wife and three children have the "superpower" to disconnect him from work more than anything else.

And asked about who he would want to sing at Arsenal's last match of the season, Arteta said he would give the players the honour to pick an artist - but when pressed settled on Bon Jovi.

Arteta has so far won the FA Cup with Arsenal since taking over as manager in 2019.

My brain takes me to Arsenal lifting title - Arteta

There is only one thing on Mikel Arteta's mind as he prepares title-chasing Arsenal for their penultimate game of the season against Manchester United.

"My brain always takes me to the place where we are lifting the Premier League," said the Spaniard. "That is where my brain is at the moment."

The Gunners are one point clear of Manchester City at the top of the table as they chase a first title since 2004 - though they could begin Sunday's game at Old Trafford in second if City, who have a game in hand, win at Fulham on Saturday.

"It leaves us in a very clear situation," said Arteta.

"We have to focus and do what have to do to be in the best possible situation. That's what we are doing."

After Sunday's game at Old Trafford, Arsenal host Everton in their final game on Sunday, 19 May.

Meanwhile, Manchester City travel to Tottenham on Tuesday before playing West Ham at Etihad Stadium on the final day.

Asked what he would do if he was offered a contract that ensured Arsenal would win the Premier League if they won their final two games, Arteta added: "I would take that pen and sign it.

"We are in the journey to try to catch them [City]. It makes you better always when someone challenges you to go further and further.

"The recent history of City has been of winning trophies. As an opponent they have been unbelievable over the last 15 years, but we want to change that."

Arteta also confirmed full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu and winger Bukayo Saka are injury doubts for the United game, and will be assessed after training on Saturday.

The Cottagers, who are 13th in the table, saw their motivation questioned after footage emerged this week of some Cottagers players flying a kite in training.

"I never met one player or manager who, when they start to play, wasn't focused to win the game, never ever in my life," said Guardiola.

"When they play in front of their fans, they want to perform well and will do everything to beat us, like we are going to do everything to beat them."

Asked specifically about the kite video, he added: "On that I don't know what you are talking about, I never saw anything."

Arteta also played down its significance, saying the "power" of team bonding can lead to "amazing" results.

"I have been in teams where we have been struggling to win a game, and gone out for a meal or a night out and the next thing we have gone on an unbelievable run," he said. "I am very positive that that is what is going to happen to Fulham."

Guardiola confirmed he has a fully-fit squad to choose from, having had a full week to prepare for the game.

"I would have preferred to play the semi-finals of the Champions League, to be honest, but unfortunately we could not be there," added Guardiola, whose side's European defence was ended by Real Madrid in the last eight.

"But you never know, we adapt to what we have. When we have three days we adapt, when we have a long week we adapt."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta once hired a group of professional pickpockets to steal from his players in an attempt to teach them a valuable lesson.

Arteta has done an excellent job since taking over at Arsenal in 2019, transforming the Gunners into genuine Premier League title contenders. During his time at the Emirates, Arteta has developed a reputation as an innovative thinker who is not afraid of trying something new if he feels it will give his team an edge.

Most notably, Arteta played Liverpool chants over a speaker ahead of a trip to Anfield in 2021, with the moment featured in the Amazon Prime documentary All or Nothing: Arsenal. Arteta readily admitted it was one of his "crazy ideas", but felt it could help his players deal with the overwhelming Anfield atmosphere.

Now another of Arteta's "crazy ideas" has come to light, with the Spaniard secretly hiring pickpockets to steal his squad's valuables while they were enjoying a team dinner.

The Athletic reveals that once the meal was finished, Arteta asked his players to empty their pockets and they were shocked to find they were missing items such as their phones and wallets.

Arteta is said to have hoped the stunt would teach his players the 'importance of being ready, alert and prepared' at all times.

Certainly it is innovative thinking. Certainly, it is a tad crazy too.

This week, Arsenal's sporting director Edu shared some insight into how the club has been transformed in recent years, highlighting the "unpopular decisions" he and Arteta have made.

"When I came to Arsenal, I saw all the squad, with respect, almost everyone was over 26, 27, on big salaries and not performing," Edu told the Men in Blazers podcast. "If you have those three elements, which club in the world wants to come here and buy one of our players? No-one.

"So how do you deal with that situation? You have to be strong and sometimes you have to make decisions. You can go strong and try to let those players go or your project is going to take, instead of three or four years, maybe seven, eight or nine.

"Then unpopular decisions started to come. Because most of the players that have those elements, they have a fanbase and a media that love them. But for the club, it is not healthy sometimes to keep the player in that situation.

"When I started I saw every single player in the squad with those three characteristics. Then I said: 'Guys, we have to clean this squad, with all my respect, to build a new foundation here.' From that foundation, we need to sign younger players, on lower salaries, with better futures, who are hungry to take us where we want to go.'"

Genius 😂

Arsenal boss Arteta agrees new contract until 2027

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new three-year contract with the club.

The Spaniard was set to be out of contract at the end of the season but is now expected to stay until 2027.

The Gunners appointed Arteta, who had been working as a coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City at the time, to replace compatriot Unai Emery as boss in December 2019.

He led Arsenal to victory in the FA Cup final at the end of the 2019-2020 campaign to claim his first major trophy as a manager.

The London club have finished second to Manchester City in the Premier League in the past two seasons as the 42-year-old tries to steer the club to their first top-flight title since 2003-04.

A former midfielder, Arteta made 150 appearances for the Gunners during his playing career and also captained the side.

Rewarding mediocrity and failure. You wouldn't see Any other big club in football or sport for that matter giving a manager a new contract if they had gone 4 seasons without a trophy or even getting to a cup final.

Then again when making CL is the owners aim then they have the perfect losers in charge of the team and recruitment to match their low standards and zero accountability.

Mubarak to all the losers in the fan base, the kronkes want a manager that makes CL, nothing else. Yet the gutter standards in fan base think this is different to back end of wenger era.

Then there are deluded ones think other big clubs would want this failure of a manager. No other big club would tolerate 4 seasons without a trophy. If he replicated the failure at Arsenal at and other big club he would be sacked within 12-18 months.

The myth that man city want this loser once Pep leaves, or that Arsenal will dominant once Pep leaves really shows how many retards their are in this fan base

It’s reported he’s now on £15 million a year . 2nd highest pay in PL history after Pep .

won’t lose his job even if he finishes outside of top 4 .

Areta has zero ambition, he knows the kronkes are desperate to keep him as he's the perfect manager for failure. Every season the usual high standards, we want to bullcrap is rolled out before season ticket renewals etc.. so that the blind sheep in fan base renew their season tickets.

When failure isn't made accountable, you will never succeed in form of life or sporting aspect.

Any other big club would sack their manager within 2 seasons if they were trophyless. Most overated and overhyped manager in world football. 1 trophy in 5 years is an embarrassing return.

Yes is a bit strange giving him such a huge deal for 3 years. I’m assuming he said forget any win bonuses, just give a high guarantee rate lol

The kronkes save millions in "trophy related bonuses" which they don't have to pay out.

Even if Arsenal go 8 seasons without a trophy, they will probably give him another contract. Usual cheerleaders will be celebrating phase 8 of failure.

The best young manager in the world. Arsenal are incredibly lucky to have him but at the same time, you have to appreciate the owners for showing faith in him and trusting the process at a time when he was struggling.

The work that he has done at Arsenal is nothing short of miraculous. He took over a club that was rock bottom both in terms of performance and culture, and he transformed them into title challengers whilst displacing Liverpool as City’s main rivals in spite of spending less £££ than City, United and Chelsea in the same period.

That goes to show the genius of this man. Chelsea and United would have been where Arsenal are today if they had a world class manager like him.

Mikel is a top manager who would be on the wishlist of any powerful European club but he is Arsenal through and through and there is no doubt that he will win not one but multiple Premier League titles in the coming years which Klopp failed to do.

This is the best period for the club in the last 20 years and the connection between the club and the fans and the optimism and energy surrounding the club has never been better in the Emirates era.

Toxic, impatient Arsenal fans with 0% football knowledge fail to realize that Arteta is the reason why they are dreaming of winning the title again and Arteta is the reason why finishing 2nd with 89 points feels disappointing.

He has raised the standards and the expectations. Arsenal is the same club that for long periods was only aiming for finishing in the top 4 and celebrated it like a trophy. The fans couldn’t even dream of winning the PL and the club forgot what it took to compete for the title.

Arteta came in and change all of that. By the time he is done, he will be remembered as a top three Arsenal manager in history because he is going to win multiple PLs.

He is charismatic and authoritative and that is what you need from your manager. There is a bit of a young Mourinho about him. For example, very few managers would have had the cojones to banish Aubameyang the way he did but he laid down the marker and he came out of that episode as a powerful figure.

As far as the rival fans are concerned, their bitterness and hatred is stemmed im jealously because they can see that Arsenal have solved their managerial woes for a good decade because they have struck gold with Arteta.

It is incredibly difficult to find managers of his caliber let alone someone so young and so passionate and invested in the club. Arsenal fans can sleep easy at night because absolutely no club is going to prize him away until he has won multiple leagues for Arsenal.

Also, the narrative that the Kroenkes are not aiming for the title and only want top 4 is a load of nonsense. That has been the ONLY objective since they assumed full control in 2018 after buying out Usmanov.

This is why they booted out small mentality manager Emery in 2019 because they knew that the job was too big for him and he didn’t have the chops to convert Arsenal into a title challenging and eventually, title winning team.

This is why they persisted with Arteta because they could see his incredible potential and they had no doubt in their minds that he will transform Arsenal.

Owners who are not invested in the idea of winning trophies do not spend £105m on any player let alone a DM.

The Kroenkes together with Arteta and Edu will bring glory back to Arsenal and Arsenal fans who lack faith right now will have no right to partake in celebrations.

This read more like a romantic novel .

Arteta has won nothing in 5 years . It’s unlikely he will win one of the big two this season .

Simple question.

If Arteta wins nothing this season & nothing next season you’d like him to be given another contract?

I don’t care for domestic cups. Wenger won 3 FA Cups in his last 4 years but he was still driven out of the club because the standards were unacceptable. The club was not fighting to win the league which is mandatory for a club of Arsenal’s size and clout.

Ten Hag has won two cups in two seasons but the United fans are unhappy because they have fallen well short of competing for the PL.

If Slot wins 3 FA Cups in 3 seasons but Liverpool are not challenging to win the league, Liverpool fans would want him out because when you’re Liverpool, you have to fight for the title.

Domestic cups don’t mask over league failure. You can have a rubbish season but still end up winning a cup because of the nature of the format.

The league performance is the true reflection of the quality, capability, and direction of travel of a football club. This is why I could only laugh when someone deluded United fans claimed that they had a better season than Arsenal last year.

A trophyless season where you finish top 2 and fight for the title is far better than a season where you finish million miles away from the top and pick up a domestic cup.

For example, Arsenal’s last two seasons were their best seasons post 2005 and better than any of their 4 FA Cup winning seasons between 2014-2020.

I would persist with Arteta as long as Arsenal are fighting to win the PL and finishing top 2. The day Arsenal stop competing under him or drop out of the top 2, I would start questioning him because that’ll represent regression. However, I am certain that will not happen because there is no doubt in my mind that Arsenal will win the PL under him.

No point asking the two mediocrity bhangra cheerleaders if they are going to make manager accountable for failure.

Success for kronkes is making CL not trophies, if it wasn't you would give a manager whose gone 5 years with a trophy a new contract.

These deluded people think that if Arteta is let go, that man city would want this bum.

Why would city want a manager whose won nothing in 4 seasons and regularly gets humilated in cups and in Europe.

I have mixed feelings about this extension. I believe he has improved us and our trajectory has been on the up to which he deserves credit for.

However being empty handed again at the end of the season kinda strengthens the argument that he has taken us far as he can. That is not a discredit to him. I will openly admit that initially i did not think we would be competing for a title under him as he was a novice.

Contracts these days in football are worth the piece of paper they are written on and does not mean he is here for the full length.

Also the point about season tickets being renewed etc is a mute point as i think with us being where we are its unlikely we will get to a stage any time soon where we will start to see protests and boycotts while we are "competing".

I get that we are Arsenal FC and should strive for success however you gotta pick your battles and protesting, empty stadiums while in our current state stinks of Privilege.

So reality is Kroenke's wont change their ways, Fans wont protest at this point cos lets be honest they give up their season ticket, I for 1 would jump at the opportunity to go watch Arsenal week in week out regardless of our position.
That does not mean I accept not winning things but just means I want to watch the team I support.

Anyway lets see how the season pans out. He is here for the foreseeable so no point wasting energy parading his picture as the messiah or criticizing him 24/7.

Lets say he becomes Man City manager one day - how would you react? Call them a small club?

Or if Barca recruited him? would you call them losers to.

Hypothetical questions I know however if it happens would you still think you are right and he is a loser but the Big teams around Europe have small mentality despite being Monsters?

How does one judge a manager?
Trophy cabinet? Well we could arguably have won two titles consecutively had we not been up against arguably the best team in Europe who have unarguably the best manager in the job.

How we play on the field? Personally, I love watching us play since Arteta took over. We score goals and more importantly we defend as a team and hardly concede. There is a solidity there that hasn't been present since the Invincibles (twenty Years ago). Last seasons stats in terms of goals scored and conceded are absolutely amazing.

What do the experts think? I haven't read one pundit criticise Arteta. If anything almost every single pundit (Journalists, presenters, past and present players) are full of admiration for Arteta.

Tying Arteta down for another two years isn't a guarantee that he will stay BUT at least the club have done good business by extending his contract which means if a big club were to come knocking they would have to pay up. Of course, this also means having to pay out to Arteta if he falls off a cliff and we want to sack him. But, in light of everything, its hardly a gamble.

Ok let me ask you a counter question?

Do you think Barca will tolerate 4 season without a trophy or a title?

Look at xavi a club legend, who won the La liga title and club fans wanted him out after failing the next season.

Same goes for man city, the expectation is that they win the PL and the CL.

Same goes for bayern, real Madrid. Those clubs make managers accountable for failure. Vast majority of managers at Real don't last more then a few seasons.

Huge difference between those clubs and Arsenal. You know full well yourself the kronkes success is making CL.

There is a huge difference being at clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool where kronkes and FSG only interest in CL money and other big clubs it's trophies.

So like I said the losers in fan base happy with just competing, that's not a big club mentality

Oh here we go with your loser excuses. Same excuses Liverpool fans came up with. If Pep wasn't here we would have won x number of titles.

Ever era of football has had dominant sides.

Liverpool dominated the 80s, it didn't stop Everton and Arsenal (under GG) winning titles

At start of the Premier league man utd won 4 out of 5 Titles. Essentially dominating like man city are now. Yet wenger turned up and won 3 titles in 7 year.

Mourinho turned up against united and invincibles and went won 2 titles

So your so called bullcrap theory on competing holds no substance.

All ifs, and buts...

Facts whats era your in your judged on titles you win, not 2nd place finishes.

Let me guess your usual response will be to run to the MODs crying as you've got no counter argument, or you will spew more of your fake positivity.

You celebrating 2nd places and competing, Is no different to Pakistan cricket team cutting cakes for personal milestones. Embarrassing mindset.

Also to add for the losers and cry babies saying Arsenal are up against man city in PL, whats the excuses for humiliations in the europa league? Man city werent in thar competition.

Since peps been here, plenty of other teams have won CL, won FA Cups and league cups. But but Arsenal can compete against that.

This fan base is world class when it comes to excuses. "Best young manager" that's won fk all in 4 seasons. All managers at big clubs are judged on what they win.

Thats not what i asked though... I asked whether your opinion on the clubs would change if they hired as you say a "loser" manager?

I agree that big clubs hold managers more accountable - that's besides the point.

What I am trying to get at is they must see something in Arteta to hire him the 1st place no? The clubs you mentioned have their pick of manager so if he was chosen then have they picked a loser and they dont know what they are doing despite being hyper successful with the model they use with hiring and firing?

Interesting . If Arsenal finish 3rd this season, you’ll question Arteta . Of course you don’t believe this , you feel Arsenal are going to be champions .

I think this season is the real test for Arteta . City are on fire as usual , Liverpool are set up nicely too .

Arteta relies too much on his first xi . This season we will see his squad play , varied tactics & fight .

If Arteta wins the premier league this year, I’ll be surprised & will admit I’m wrong & he is a great manager.

Good see two posters battling out with who can't come up with best excuses for failure. The fact one is using same copy paste responses means they are not winning here. Award has to go to Mr "positive" and the new excuses he's coming up with. 👏👏

Well there is one thing your rants won't change... name calling, acting like an imbicile won't change the fact that I enjoy watching our team and am fully behind both the players and the manager..

🤣 4 trophyless seasons in a row is now a bigger achievement then winning 3 FA Cups in 4 season.

Yet another gem 🤣🤦‍♂️

Well done keep enjoying the club winning nothing and celebrating like the club's win a double or Treble.

Your the perfect fan for the kronkes and lack of ambition.

Like I said loser mentality.

Sometimes big clubs will occasionally make poor decisions on managers.

Chelsea done it with lampard, united with ole, bayern with kompany. Look at how many clubs have made poch their manager.

So yeah these clubs may see something in the manager. But vast majority will then get rid pretty quickly when trophies ain't being won.

Winning FA Cups/League Cups when you’re not fighting for the title means absolutely nothing.

There is a reason why almost every Arsenal fan including you wanted AW gone in spite of the 3 FA Cup wins between 2014 and 2017.

The reason was simple. AW was no longer capable of assembling a team that could challenge for the PL.

Finishing 2nd with 89 points (2 points off winning the league) is a far better season than winning a domestic cup and finishing 4th and 20+ points behind the champions.

Winning a domestic cup gives you momentarily joy, but when you are not fighting for the title, you know that you still have to spend huge amounts of money to get your club back on track and you don’t even know if you have the right manager. For example, Ten Hag and United.

When you finish with 89 points, you know that you have a great team and a great manager and all you need is a little push.

Every United fan would happily trade places with Arsenal right now even though Arsenal have won 0 trophies in the last 2 seasons while United have won 2.

I think what Mamoon is trying to say is what the great Sir Alex once said. The Premier League is your bread and butter.

Indeed it does show where the team is at but big sides should be aiming to win all and not act privileged and drop competitions.

It is but if you’re not winning it , win something. Once you start wining or getting to finals , you’ll know how to cross the line when you’re near . You’re not going to be near every year, unless you’re city doing this freak run .

2nd in terms of result is no better than 4th , both secure champions league. But 4th winning a cup is better than 2nd winning none . But of course finishing outside of top 4 with a cup is worse .

There is nothing better than winning everything. Arsenal has had two excellent seasons and they would have been even if better if they had won a cup or two, but there is absolutely no way that finishing 4th/5th and winning a cup is better than finishing 2nd.

If AW last two seasons were exactly like Arteta’s last two seasons, the “Wenger Out” campaign would have died and the fans and the club would have been fully behind him.

A great team and great manager which has won nothing.

I think someone needs to go to school and learn what the word "great" means

🤣🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

There is big difference between 2nd and 4th, especially if there is a considerable point difference.

In 2014/15, Arsenal won the FA Cup and finished 3rd with 75 points, 12 points behind the champions.

That season for Arsenal was absolutely no way better than last season. Arsenal fans are more positive and confident now than they were after 2014/15, where they were divided on AW’s future because a lot had to change in terms of culture and on pitch performance for Arsenal to challenge for the title.

Finishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th is not just about qualifying for the CL, it is also about challenging and not challenging for the title. There is a huge difference there.

Proper big clubs expect their managers to

Win league titles
Win cups
Win European trophies
Compete on multiple front during a season

Feel free to any of the Arteta fan boys to demonstrate examples of this in last 4 seasons.

Oh he's the best young manager in the world

The guys getting paid loads of money in a job with zero accountability, people acting like its loyalty. Anyone would happily stay in a job being paid loads of money and having no targets to meet

and that's why the anger should always be at the Kroenke's. They should push their employees more rather than lining their pockets.

Any person in the world would sign contract extensions like Arteta just did. More money in the same job. Don't blame the fella

challenging for how long? Arteta had two seasons of this , he cannot only rely on being challengers

You mentioned city are so good, tough to beat etc. surely with that logic you’d want to try to win other silverware while competing.

Imo a lot of Arsenal fans are content because the team might win nothing but don’t lose many league matches .

If injuries take over , Arsenal start losing a few , you’ll hear a different noise. If he had won a double domestic , the fans will give him more time .

Arteta know this, he will do his best to win a cup this season. Ask him now if 3rd & a cup is better than 2nd & no cup , he’d like any sensible person would take the first option. .

The next 3 games will show how good Arteta is . Players missing & 3 very tough matches may result in 0 wins .

Yeah the kronkes are the biggest culprits, this is no different to when Wenger was making top and was being paid loads of money to do so.

If you look at all the statements released after the contract news, it's all allowed of spewed PR nonsense.

Most of fan base are happy with "competing" because its been so long since it's won a title. Acting like it's a golden period for the club. At least when Liverpool made excuses for failure they actually won a few trophies a long the way.

Whether it's finishing 2 or 4th. If you ain't winning anything, then league position Is irrelevant

Brilliant post, for all the crying about we can't compete vs Pep.

There are other trophies to win, FA, league cup, europa league, CL.

The fact Arsenal haven't reached a cup final in 4 seasons is embarrassing.

Most of the losers in fan base are so invested in this project, thar they want to make excuses for failure because of the call it out they think they are a "real fan,"

They would rather be fake positive and keep their heads buried in the sand.

Arsenal is on par with City now, there is hardly anything between the two teams now. The points difference between the two sides reflects that.

Arsenal needs to go for the PL and there is no doubt that they will win multiple league titles in the next 3-4 years.

Liverpool can settle for domestic cups and do another open bus parade for that because they don’t have what it takes to win the PL in the coming seasons.

This is the 3rd year running you have predicted Arsenal winning the league. Until you do, win something, anything lol

Artetas 5 years has left the trophy cabinet empty . Another year of sorrow is possible.

I’m in interested in your detailed analysis of Arteta.

North London derby , what system will Arteta play , starting xi & what is your score prediction??

Arteta hasn’t been smart with building a great squad . Now with injuries, suspensions , it’s showing . It’s hard to fight and win on multiple fronts .

Arteta must play strong teams & must add to the squad & try to win silverware this season.

This next week will show his worth as a manager.

He doesn’t need certifications from you and others. He has already shown his worth as a manager by transforming a joke team into a top 2 side while spending less £ than City, United and Chelsea.

Arteta rejects talk of Arsenal dark arts and insists team sheet will bear him out

Mikel Arteta has rejected the accusation from Manchester City that Arsenal employed “dark arts” in the 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, saying the truth about his players’ condition would be revealed by his team sheet for the Carabao Cup third-round tie at home against Bolton on Wednesday.

City were furious at how a succession of Arsenal players went to ground and called for treatment during the second half as they tried to preserve a 2-1 lead with 10 men, following the dismissal of Leandro Trossard in first-half stoppage-time.

David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurriën Timber were accused of deliberately breaking up the game, with City’s John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Manuel Akanji strongly critical of Arsenal’s approach. Stones, who scored a last‑gasp equaliser, said Arsenal had used “the dark arts” for a few years.

All of which left Arteta, who worked as a coach at City before his appointment as Arsenal manager in December 2019, to deliver a cryptic response. “I have been there before, I was there for four years,” he said. “I have all the information. So I know. Believe me.” Arteta appeared to be suggesting that City tend to react badly after games they do not win.

Raya left the Etihad Stadium with bandages to protect a thigh problem while Calafiori, the summer signing from Bologna, had not previously started a game for Arsenal. Timber, meanwhile, missed virtually all of last season with an anterior cruciate ligament rupture. Martinelli has also had fitness problems. All four are doubts for Bolton’s visit, though it is unclear whether Arteta would have picked them in the Carabao Cup anyway.

“I always prefer the facts to words or supposing things,” Arteta said. “Let’s see who is available tomorrow and then we can talk about dark arts or these things or if it’s a reality. Other things will be factors and that’s it. We will use the facts. What are the other factors? Well, if a player is faking something that means he will carry on and be involved in the squad and play. Unfortunately, there will be a few players not available.”

Arteta was asked whether his team had sustained any serious injuries at City. “We have to wait on one of them,” he replied.

If Raya does not play, Arteta would most likely turn to his fourth-choice goalkeeper Jack Porter, who is 16. The second-choice, Neto, is cup‑tied, having played for Bournemouth in round two while the third-choice, Tommy Setford, is injured.

Arteta is also without the injured Martin Ødegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney, while Ben White is a doubt. Trossard is suspended. Arteta said Ødegaard, who has an ankle problem, would be out for “a matter of weeks … how long exactly I cannot tell you – we might get a surprise [before the October international break] but it’s unlikely”.

Arteta said Arsenal’s rearguard action in the second half against City was born out of necessity and he was clearly frustrated that the excellence of it was largely ignored as the focus fell on their time-wasting. On the subject of alleged cheating, it has been lost on nobody at Arsenal that City are defending themselves against 115 charges from the Premier League of wrongdoing. City deny all charges.

Arteta added that Arsenal had “learned from the past” in terms of playing City with 10 men, which they did twice in 2021-22. In the first meeting that season they had Granit Xhaka sent off at 2-0 down after 35 minutes en route to a 5-0 away defeat. In the second, they lost Gabriel Magalhães at 1-1 in the 59th minute; they would concede in stoppage time for a 2-1 reverse.

“We’d better learn … if not I would be thick, very thick,” Arteta said as he reflected more generally on how he had worked to instil a relish for the fight in his players. “We had to play the game that we had to play [on Sunday]. The first 10, 15 minutes … we couldn’t with 11 v 11. Then we got much better. Then we were thrown in a very different context [after the Trossard red card] and did what every team does. All managers want a team that is happy and able to compete in any context thrown at you.”

Arteta wanted to highlight how City had played when they were reduced briefly to 10 men as they waited to introduce Mateo Kovacic for the injured Rodri midway through the first half. Ilkay Gündogan fouled Thomas Partey and Silva shielded the ball away from Trossard so Arsenal could not take a quick free-kick.

“They played 30 seconds with 10 men,” Arteta said. “Look what they did for 30 seconds. It’s normal what they did. We had to do it in a different way.”

Arteta has had time to think about Trossard’s sending-off and he hinted at his continued unhappiness over the decision. It was the second time this season that an Arsenal player has been given a second yellow card for kicking the ball away – after Declan Rice in the 1-1 home draw against Brighton.

“For passing it, you mean?” Arteta said. Had he reminded his players not to do that? “Yeah, I think so,” he replied. “Don’t touch the ball. We will play without the ball.”

New 3 year, 15M year contract for a clueless manager.

It will cost the kronkes a fortune to sack him now. Then again making top 4 is all they care about.

The decision on new contract looks very foolish now

5 Years at club will pass in 3 weeks time.

800M spent and trying to replicate Mourinho / simone / GG football and instead looking like Stoke City / Bolton

Sooner this guy is sacked the better

Well done best young manager in world 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Arsenal do not need 'reset' - Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says the club do not need a "reset" despite only picking up one point from their past three Premier League matches.

The Gunners were beaten by Newcastle United last weekend, which followed a draw against Liverpool and defeat by Bournemouth.

The run of form has left the club seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, while a 1-0 defeat by Inter Milan on Wednesday means they are currently 12th in the 36-team Champions League table.

"I don't think about [needing a reset]," said Arteta. "Nobody works harder than me, I guarantee you that.

"We don't need a reset. In one particular aspect we need to go from 95 (effort) to 100. I will not tell you what that is."

Arsenal travel to London rivals Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Martin Odegaard, who returned from an injury absence during the loss at the San Siro on Wednesday, will be in the squad to face the Blues.

However, Declan Rice, who missed the match in Italy, remains a doubt.

"I have to be very vague on [Rice] because there is no clarity on if he is going to be fit or not for the weekend," said Arteta.

"He hasn't trained yet and it is not clear yet whether he is going to be available."

Arteta says while Odegaard is available a decision has not yet been made on whether he is fit to start.

I'm sure the same clueless squad management and tactics will continue. Always happens when adversity occurs.

Time to move on from this wasted 5 years with this manager.

Mikel Arteta hopes Arsenal’s 'nightmare' period with injuries will end soon

Mikel Arteta says he is "praying" for Arsenal's injury "nightmare" to end as his side were left nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool after Sunday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

The Gunners appeared on course to end a three-match winless streak in the league after Gabriel Martinelli converted a fine cross from the returning Martin Odegaard on the hour mark.

However, Arteta's men were pegged back just 10 minutes later when Pedro Neto unleashed from range before Leandro Trossard failed to convert William Saliba's pass from close range in the final seconds of the match.

Trossard's late miss saw Arteta collapse onto the pitch, while the Spaniard was also left pondering a fresh double injury blow after both Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka were unable to complete the match. Arteta revealed the England duo are a doubt for the forthcoming international break.

Odegaard's first start since September provided Arsenal with a timely boost, but their season has been derailed by a series of injuries and suspensions.

Speaking after the score draw at Stamford Bridge, which marked the first time Arsenal have gone four matches without a win in the top flight since April 2023, he said: "There's nothing that we can do about that.

"What I'm praying for is that after the international break we have the team fully physically equipped, that they are available and that they are fit, because, it's been a nightmare for eight weeks.

"Doubt after doubt, issue after issue, not only with the ones that are not able to play, but with the ones who are able to play.

"I am disappointed with the result because I think we deserved more. After scoring the first goal, I'm very disappointed with how we conceded their goal. That's nowhere near the standards of our defensive habits, how we allowed it.

"The moment you give space and time, you're going to get punished, so that's not bad luck. Then the team showed its teeth. We created three big chances. Unfortunately, we weren't able to put the ball in the net, but we deserved to win it."

Rice, who was a doubt heading into the fixture with a broken toe, was replaced after 71 minutes, while Saka was also withdrawn in the second period following a robust tackle by Marc Cucurella.

"It doesn't look good, because for two players of that importance to tell you they cannot continue in the game, obviously it's not good news," added Arteta.

Asked if he expects them to be available for England's Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, Arteta replied: "Well, two players that just came off, I don't know whether to expect them to be fit, because if not they don't come off."

Trust the "failed process"

Best young manager 🤦‍♂️

No other alternatives 🤦‍♂️

Tactical incompetence on full display on again yestetday. Arsenal need to get a better manager in at end of season.

Both Chelsea (in the mud) and Liverpool (no longer City's rivals) are surpassing Arsenal now.

Certain cheerleading 🤡 will be eating more humble pie after he comes out of hiding

Not surprised to see a certain Arsenal “fan” bump this thread only when Arsenal don’t win.

Arteta has done a superb job, but he will need to improve the attack for next season. Jesus and Martinelli must be sold.
