Absolutely liar, if you had faith in Arteta you would take me up on my challenge.

If Arteta doesn't win 25/26 PL, you are banned for PP for life, because everyone knows you wouldn't retire gracefully.

Just remembered uve made previous failed claims that Arteta would win 2 titles in next 3,4,5 years etc...

Your just an excuse merchant

2022/23 season Arsenal played free flowing attacking football. A complete choke unfortunately, Arsenal should have won the league. I think it was a record of how far they were ahead and not winning the league.

2023/24 Arteta tried to tighten up defensively. This compromised the attack early on and it was difficult to figure out how to use Havertz. After the first quarter of the season it was performing defensively and offensively well with the joint highest goal difference. It’s just by the time he figured it out it was too late and Man City went on a great run.

In both last two seasons Arsenal played good football, improved from the previous year and looked to be building. I don’t think it would have been wise to sack Arteta then.

Seasons before 2022, Arteta didn’t achieve much substantially. This season Arsenal have underperformed.

If Arsenal aren’t improving, you can make a case for sacking the manager. This season Arsenal have regressed and even style of play looks way worse. I’d give till end of season and make a decision. But it’s definitely worth thinking about now.
Also on top of regress you have Liverpool, Chelsea who are have improved. Plus man city Maybe in a slump, but Pep has never gone 2 seasons in a row without a title, so city will be back.

With all that happening, are Arsenal under Arteta a team which can't get over the line going to win a title ahead of 3 teams with similar or if not better resources to go and win a title.

Why would I accept nonsense challenges from you? Your opinion holds no value for me because I don’t view you as a credible poster.

🤣🤣 credibility? Says the guy who said title was in bag and ran off like a coward.

Same poster who said he would apologize if Arsenal didn't win title.

The fact you change your opinion like people change their underwear says it all

You have zero credibility and are nothing more then a glorified arteta fan boy. Who will roll out excuses after excuse then admit he's wrong.

Like I though your a coward. If you had faith in your messiah you would even hesitate on challenge.

Their is a reason your on my block list because your a coward

I’m on your “block” list yet you read and respond to everything that I say. You’re obsessed with me yet you don’t have the courage to confront me, so how can I take you seriously?

Absolute 🤡 you tagged other posters when Arteta wins a game, havertz scores a goal, oddegard has a half decent and make out as though these are legends of club etc...

Then come end of season when Arsenal bottle it or empty handed you make all the possible excuses you can.

So quit your pathetic 🧌 because your football knowledge or complete lack of it holds zero credibility

Making personal attacks as usual when you cannot answer the question. You are from Birmingham but support Liverpool. Are you ashamed of supporting Birmingham City or Aston Villa? Glory hunters like you have no value.

I called out your lame excuse that Liverpool were in transition when they had two poor seasons, no they were not. Klopp was tactically exposed and in both seasons he had the squad to win the league.

It is a fact that Klopp has underachieved in the league given the players that he had at his disposal. He could never get the better of Pep apart from one season where City kind of fell apart.

No wonder he did an embarrassing open bus parade for winning FA and League Cup.

I have watched more football than you ever will, but I have not watched Arsenal’s last two matches because I was busy. This is why I didn’t comment much on the positive and negative aspects.

I don’t need lectures on football from the likes of you. I am confident that Arsenal is in the right hands and I have no doubt that Arteta will eventually win the league.

I’m just stating facts , nothing about your character but merely experience & understanding of football .

It must be challenged when you make statements such as Arteta is better than Klopp .

You are the only person on this planet who believes this , unless you’ve convinced some fellow local Arsenal fans.

Klopp took over a far worse team than Arteta did . In his tenure he reached multiple finals inc 3 champions league, 3x 90+ points but what matters is he won Everything & 2 goals away from the quadruple. Todays team is his team , he would have done the same or more in the next five years ,

Klopp bought Salah , VVD , Alison . Arteta bought Havertz, Jesus , Zinchenko

Arteta has a fa cup & charity shield on display.

Save yourself this mockery by over exciting love for Michael Arteta . The club is bigger than any manager .

Arteta must win silverware otherwise he’s failed .

He can start tonight by beating palace to further in league cup . Beggars can’t be choosers , he needs to start winning & you stop whinging .

Klopp left English football with only one Premier League title under his belt, that too in front of empty stadiums.

If Arteta leaves English football with none or only one league title, you can compare him with Klopp. However, surpassing Klopp’s legacy in English football is not a difficult task for a brilliant young manager like Arteta.

Klopp PR should not worry about Klopp. They should be worried about the fact that Slot is threatening to match Klopp’s legacy in just one season and actually exposing how much Klopp’s underachieved with this Liverpool team and how the surrender last season was pretty embarrassing.

The Community Shield is a respectable match. It’s equivalent in Spain, Germany and Italy is treated like a proper trophy and there is no reason why it shouldn’t be considered as one in English football.

I would much rather win the Community Shield than a League Cup.

Giving it a trophy status will not impact the charity but it will give this match the recognition that it deserves. It should be a trophy and it is dumb to argue otherwise.

If Arteta wants to win the league cup, good for him. I will not celebrate it if they do.

Mikel Arteta reveals how Arsenal will cope without injured Bukayo Saka

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Bukayo Saka’s absence will transform him into a better manager.

The Gunners will begin a period of matches – which is likely to extend into double figures – without Saka when they host Ipswich at the Emirates on Friday.

Arteta confirmed ahead of the visit of the Tractor Boys that the England winger, who has nine goals and 13 assists this season, faces “many weeks” on the sidelines after he tore his hamstring in Arsenal’s 5-1 dismantling of Crystal Palace last weekend.

Saka’s injury comes a month after captain Martin Odegaard returned to following 12 matches out with an ankle problem.

Saka’s natural replacement, Raheem Sterling, will also be absent for a period of time after he suffered a knee injury in training.

But when asked if his latest managerial test will turn him into a better coach, Arteta said: “I think so, yes. We started the season with one of the thinnest squads in the Premier League, and we knew that.

“If we have the thinnest squad, what do we need? We really dug into that to make sure that we utilise every player in the best possible potential, and everybody has to feel part of it.

“You need to rediscover players in different positions, and different relationships. It’s a really good exercise and the boys are willing to do anything we demand them to do, so that’s a really good thing, too.”

Arteta is set to oversee a pivotal time in Arsenal’s campaign with nine fixtures in January – including a north London derby against Tottenham in the Premier League, an FA Cup third-round clash against Manchester United, and the opening leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle – following their final game of 2024 against Ipswich.

Football’s expanding calendar is under the microscope more than ever before, with Manchester City’s Rodri suggesting earlier this season that players would be forced to strike over the increasing number of fixtures.

Rodri then ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in September which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

“It (the fixture list) is unsustainable unless we can find ways to physically turn the players into monsters who can cope with anything,” added Arteta.

“The fact that you train and recover, that’s not a good pattern because the body needs to train, the muscle needs to train. If you just play and recover you start to lose a lot of factors in your body that are key to physical performance.

“Not just to play not to get injured, but to become a better athlete, which is very different, and to keep evolving as an athlete.

“I hope the players are being listened to but whoever is in charge, can they actually do something right now with the commitments that are already in place over the next three or four seasons? It is very challenging and very difficult.”

Mikel Arteta provides update on Arsenal squad after being hit by sickness bug

Mikel Arteta was a happy man following Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Brentford on New Year’s Day and even more so because his squad overcome a sickness bug to put in a superb performance away from home.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli ensured the Gunners moved back up to second in the Premier League table and continued to put pressure on league leaders Liverpool who are now just six points ahead of Arteta’s side.

Kai Havertz was surprisingly left out of the Arsenal squad for the match against Brentford but it was reported that the German forward had caught a sickness bug that struck other players in the squad as well.

Arteta confirmed as much in his post match press conference saying the illness affected his players “on the pitch and off the pitch”. Speaking specifically on Havertz’s omission from the squad Arteta revealed: “With Kai [Havertz] it was obvious. He wasn’t feeling well at all and he had very clear symptoms so stay away from it, put him in a car and go back to home.”

When asked if the bug was disruptive to Arsenal’s plans and preparation, Arteta seemed to downplay the severity of the sickness and claimed that the team were prepared for such things, especially at this time of year.

“These things happen in this period, there is always things. Throat, infection, viruses so I try to delay the line-up as far as possible because you can get up in the morning and you can have a surprise unfortunately.

“I hope so [the affected players will be back soon], it’s nothing serious but they weren’t in the ideal condition to play today.

“I leave [protocol for illness] to the doctor. Obviously it’s in relation to the symptoms that they have. I think [Havertz will be fit for the next game]. I think he will recover very quickly.”

Arsenal face Brighton in the late kick off on Saturday as they look to keep up their momentum in the league before a Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle on Tuesday 7 January.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal may need to spend on January transfers: ‘We have to be open for that possibility’

Arsenal will have key attacker Kai Havertz available for their Premier League match at Brighton and Hove Albion, manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday.

Havertz, who scored the winner for Arsenal against Ipswich Town last week, missed their 3-1 away win over Brentford due to an illness which affected several players in Arteta’s squad.

Asked if Arsenal were planning on bolstering their squad with any signings in the January transfer window, Arteta said: “I don’t know. The focus is on the players that we have.

“If there is somebody in the market that we can afford and we believe they will have a real impact on the team then we have to be open for that possibility always. At the moment, the focus is on what we have.

“All the players that are here, they want to focus on performing and impacting the team and if something happens there then we will assess it.”

Pressed on whether signing a striker would lead to the Gunners mounting a more sustained title challenge, Arteta responded: “I don’t know, it can be a perception, it can be a reality. Signing someone is not enough, that’s for sure because that signing then has to score how many goals? A lot of things have to happen.

“Sign and then I score 20 goals from here until the end and then you have a better chance? Maybe, yes. I don’t know!

“But I’m very happy with the players that we have. If you look at the amount of goals that we score as well, it’s more than enough to win a Premier League, and our other numbers as well. But the reality is if somebody doing more, that’s life so we have to be better.”

Second-placed Arsenal are six points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand, and the north London club will be looking to turn up the pressure on the leaders and cut that gap with a win over 10th-placed Brighton on Saturday. Liverpool are next in action on Sunday, when they face Manchester United.

Asked if German Havertz would travel to the Amex Stadium, Arteta told reporters: “I think so, yes. The ones with illness, I think are going to be OK. They will train today and if everybody is fine then they will be available.

“(Raheem Sterling) is starting to do some stuff on the pitch so that is great news. Let’s see how he progresses next week and we will see if he is available for the following week.

“Ben (White) is still a few weeks away and (Takehiro) Tomiyasu has done some stuff on the pitch but we have to see. It has been a long-term injury and we have to see how quick he progresses and how he reacts.”

Arteta also explained his decision to bench midfielder Declan Rice for the win over Brentford, saying he was trying to manage the England international’s minutes.

“He’s played so much football. We had nine games in this period and he has had some niggles in the last few games where he had to come off. We have to manage every player and he is not an exception,” the Spaniard added.

It seems no striker or no real signings for Arsenal from Artetas word.

If LFC crumble but Arsenal also drop points due to lack of quality in back up, he may regret it. The manager should ask for 50 odd million to cover a position or two.

And just when everything was returning to normal before LFC and MU clash, Arteta opened the pressure valves.

100% needs to be sacked at end of season, time to move on and get a top proven manager in.

Needs to be sacked straight after this Newcastle game tonight.

This losers ain't going to win no major trophies, time to get a proven manager in.

15M a year for this trash

Yes sack the manager who took the club from 8th to 2nd while spending less money than City, United and Chelsea 🤡

'It's tricky, they fly a lot' - Arteta on Carabao Cup balls

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta still believes his side can reach the Carabao Cup final - but says his players must first master the "tricky" ball used in the competition.

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle in Tuesday's semi-final first leg after goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Arsenal had 23 shots during the match but just three were on target, as Gabriel Martinelli struck the post and Kai Havertz headed a simple chance wide.

When he was asked about the missed chances in his post-match news conference, Arteta said he would not tell his players to change anything, but did mention the impact the ball had.

"We kicked a lot of balls over the bar, and it's tricky that these balls fly a lot so there's details that we can do better," he said.

"But at the end that's gone - there's no way back, it's about the next game and that's our world, the reality is our world.

"It's just half-time. When I see the team play, and how we deal with a lot of situations and play against a very good team, I must say I have full belief that we can go out there and do it."

Prior to the defeat by Newcastle, the Gunners had scored 11 goals in three EFL Cup ties so far this season.

The ball in the competition is made by Puma, while the ball used in the Premier League is manufactured by Nike.

"It's just different," said Arteta when asked to go into more detail about the ball.

"It's very different to a Premier League ball, and you have to adapt to that because it flies different.

"When you touch it the grip is very different as well, so you adapt to that."

Does Arteta have a point?

While Arsenal were made to pay for their wayward finishing against the Magpies, the numbers from their previous three ties in this year's competition do not suggest the ball has been too much of a problem for them.

They thrashed Bolton 5-1 in their opening game, before beating Preston 3-0 and Crystal Palace 3-2 to reach the last four.

Their shooting stats in the EFL Cup are also broadly similar to both the Premier League and Champions League, with Adidas manufacturing the ball used in Europe's elite club competition.

  • Before Tuesday's semi-final first leg, 27 of Arsenal's 51 shots in the EFL Cup this season were on target - an average of 53%.
  • In the Premier League, 102 of Arsenal's 197 shots have been on target - an average of 52%.
  • In the Champions League, 33 of Arsenal's 57 shots have been on target - an average of 58%.

15M a year for this trash. This fraud needs to be sacked today

Arsenal ain't winning CL under this manager, the PL is done as well.

Absolute Circus 🤡 in charge of this club and this club is not going to get over the line with this fraud in charge.

Arteta paying price for not curing glaring Arsenal weakness

Mikel Arteta is a manager with a reputation for meticulously exploiting the finest margins - but now Arsenal's season threatens to flounder because he left the most vital commodity of all to chance.

Arsenal's FA Cup third-round exit to Manchester United on penalties was the painful sequel to Tuesday's damaging 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

So many of Arsenal's problems, and why they trail Premier League pacesetters Liverpool by six points having played a game more, result from Arteta and the club's transfer strategy.

Arteta's acquisitions have reduced the Gunners to a blunt instrument when a lack of cutting edge was their biggest, most obvious weakness.

There are a variety of responses, cynical or otherwise, that could be given to Arteta's claim that "from 1,000 games like this you should lose one. Unfortunately it was this one. You [Arsenal] deserve to win the game by a mile but the reality is we are out and that is the only thing that's going to be judged".

The simple answer is that Arsenal have been a team without a recognised striker for some time, something Arteta has declined to address, choosing instead to strengthen other areas rather than their most pressing, obvious need.

And now, as they go out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, face an uphill fight to reach Wembley in the Carabao Cup and struggle to keep up with Liverpool in the title race, Arteta and Arsenal's failure to sign a goalscorer has been exposed.

Study the statistics from those past two defeats and the problem is writ large. In capital letters.

They had 23 shots with only three on target against Newcastle, and 26 with seven on target against Manchester United in 120 minutes. Of those 26, 22 came from inside the box - Arsenal having 55 touches in Manchester United's penalty area.

For all that, the only goal, in both of these games, came from defender Gabriel's deflected shot.

To underscore Arsenal's lack of potency, this came against a Manchester United team who played the last 29 minutes of normal time plus 30 minutes of extra time with only ten men after defender Diogo Dalot was sent off for receiving a second yellow card.

Mikel Arteta defends Kai Havertz after horror show in FA Cup loss to Man Utd, with Gabriel Jesus also injured

"We didn't get what we deserved. But there's an element of putting the ball in the back of the net."

If Arsenal had a slogan for this past week, perhaps even this entire season, it would be close to what Mikel Arteta said above, following this latest FA Cup defeat on penalties to Manchester United.

Playing over an hour with an extra player, Arsenal created 3.15 of Expected Goals in their FA Cup penalty shoot-out loss to Ruben Amorim's side. Nearly 2.0 of that tally went to Kai Havertz.

Arsenal scored once, through Gabriel's deflected strike. The German got none - then missed the only penalty in the shoot-out.

"Incredible how you don't win that game. That's basically [how you] to sum it up," added Arteta. "The dominance, superiority in relation to the opposition, everything we did to try to win the game.

"We [scored] once. With the amount of situations, chances, penalties that we had, you have to score more, we didn't. We go home extremely sad, but I cannot be more proud of my players."

The blame is not completely on Kai Havertz's door. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard missed a second-half penalty which would have sent the Gunners on the way to the FA Cup fourth round in normal time.

But Havertz had similar, better chances. There was the sliced finish from inside the box just after Arsenal fell behind to Bruno Fernandes' opener. But his off-target scoop from a few yards out had an xG tally of 0.85 - statistically a better chance than a penalty (0.79 xG).

Asked about what he said to Havertz after the game, Arteta replied: "To him and to all of them: that I love them, that we all love them. Individually and collectively they are a joy.

"What this team produces every three days is incredible regardless of what happens. I am not going to lose sight of that, because of a result or two because we didn't deserve it.

"What we can do better, let's try to do it. But it's difficult to achieve, it's an emotional part, it's something related to confidence as well."

The notion that Arsenal's only recognised No 9 option - days after missing another big sitter in the Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Newcastle - spurned a large chunk of their chances in another missed opportunity in a cup competition, begs the question of why Arteta refuses to publicly commit to signing a new forward, let alone actually try and get one.

"I understand that [transfer question], but I cannot love our players more and we very much focus on the players we have to perform at the highest level," said Arteta after the latest defeat on Sunday. "The rest is not in our hands, not in my hands."

But on New Year's Day, weeks after Bukayo Saka was ruled out with a long-term injury, Arteta hinted after victory against Brentford that if his side picked up any more fitness blows, the club may have to act.

"When I see the willingness of each individual to play through anything and the versatility that we can create within our idea, the answer is no," he said on January 1 when asked if his team are stretched.

"But we don't know, if something else happens, then we would have more issues but hopefully no."

Since then Arteta has lost Ethan Nwaneri to a muscle injury, then Gabriel Jesus - who revived his Arsenal career with a great goalscoring run of six goals in his last six games - was stretchered off with a knee injury against United.

"Big worry, that's my feeling," said Arteta of Jesus, who went home on Sunday and could head to hospital on Monday.

"To come off with a stretcher in a lot of pain, touching his knee, it's not looking good."

Earlier this week, Arteta rejected the idea that Arsenal need to bring in a body just to fill a spot, they need someone to really add something to the team.

Given his team's injury situation and recent performance levels from the forward players in the cup competitions that matter, he may have lost that right. Action is now needed.

Arteta protecting his 2 pet Rats Odegaard and havertz, who dissapeared as usual. No shock from this clueless manager

What exactly will this failed bum manager do next season to finish above Liverpool, Chelsea or Man city.

Arsenal ain't winning the PL or CL this season.

Focus on a cup double? 🤣🤦‍♂️ Arsenal have won 2 FA cup ties since they last won it.

Arsenal only chance of a trophy this season is the league cup and with Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs, united still in it (as of today's date), winning that won't be easy either

Zero cup finals in 4 season and talk of cup double 🤣. Only double cups Arsenal are seeing are the Arsenal Bras the women's team wear.
TBF your comments on Arsenal have been spot on for a long time - as was this one.

I have supported the club since 1987, through experience you can see when a manager and team are not good enough.

Yet I supposedly was negative and had an agenda. Reality is I was being realistic and honest.

The so called positive, super Arsenal fans are now getting reality check they deserved backing this failed process

I think its fair to say a large number of Arsenal fans or even the majority are now concerned about Arteta's statergy esp with the squad he has amassed , falling short of quality attackers.

When asked if the needed a striker, he replied 'no'. This is not sensible, when its so obvious.

I have to say when you stated he is a company man and was given £15m a year to be one, it was hard to believe but it is falling into place.

Now Edu has gone, has been replaced and will this new person push Arteta to sign a few players inc attackers?

The new DOF will be Arteta's mate Thomas rosicky, so another yes man.

Arsenal were looking at mertersaker and rosicky, just shows how unserious this club is.

This mess will only get worse.

At least at Liverpool you had good recruitment because Micheal Edwards had full control and challenged klopp on his recommendations in past. Now again he's doing a good job.

Arsenal is currently just a circus.

Or do you think it could be Arteta was told he has 200m to spend over the next x amount of years and he has spent his budget? I hear Arsenal are well within the FFP rules and have money to spend, so why the delay? Marmoush is available as are others.

Arteta knows kronkes want self sustaining model, so he will just lie every Transfer window just like wenger did.

Edu probably left as he was probably fed up of the trash 🗑 Arteta kept asking for

Marmoush is going to Man City, who are being serious in transfer window as usual.

The pressure is huge right now, I have a feeling Arteta and Kronkes will want to appease the fans, go out and by any type of attacker. They clearly arent close but by the end of Jan you will have a new player imo.

Unless he'd rather wait for Jesus to return from injury lol.

The owners don't care, it's same with all their sports franchises. They will probably sign trashford and then release loads of new merchandise for sale once transfer window shuts

Trophyless season again, kronkes will keep persisting with this loser.

Arteta is doing at Arsenal what Emery was hired to do but wasn’t good enough to handle the pressure.
Yep but why Emery wasn't tolerated for long like Arteta...as you know better than me how Arteta wasn't sacked even after a tumultuous early run like his first two years while at the same stage Emery was shown the door.

That is because he had no command of the dressing room, he was visibility under pressure in the media and he had failed to convince the owners that he had what it takes to rebuild Arsenal.

Both Arsenal and PSG learned the hard way that Emery is not capable of managing big clubs.

Emery any day.

Arteta is very predictable, to be honest.
Both PSG and Arsenal know that Emery is not the man for a big job. He thrives at clubs like Villa, Villarreal, Sevilla where the expectations are humble and he can play the underdog narrative. That is his comfort zone.

There is a reason why the likes of Bayern, Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea, United etc. all changed managers in the last 12 months and no none of them prized him away from Villa even though all of them could have.

He would jump at the opportunity of leaving Aston Villa for one of those clubs like Ancelotti left Everton for Madrid but the big clubs don’t rate him after he got exposed at PSG and Arsenal.

If Emery isn't a suitable candidate for major clubs, then same applies to Arteta.

Emery’s CV compared to Artetas is like Chalk and cheese.

As we know pressure is on Arteta to deliver success , but that's down to the Money hes spent assembling the squad , rather than his winning mentality, which is none existent.

Emery wasn’t properly backed financially. The players and fans turned on him too, so he couldn’t stay. It’s sad really, he deserved a fair chance.

The Arsenal management has the same mentality with both emery and Arteta. First few seasons they weren’t backed financially. You have to prove that you’re worth investing in. This is not the same as ten hag or potter who were given funds instantly. It’s probably a better way of doing it so you don’t waste money and make the squad difficult to move on like Manchester United.

Difference in management decided to persist and back Arteta. While they decided to move ok from emery. Tbh though neither had done that great in the testing period both missing out on top 4. But Arteta did win an fa cup.

What did Emery achieve at PSG where he was backed financially? He was brought in to help win the UCL and he bottled a 4-0 lead vs Barcelona and also surrended the league to Monaco.

Emery is out of his depth when it comes to managing big expectations and high pressure jobs. Managing a club like Villa, Villarreal and Sevilla and managing clubs where you are expected to win the Premier League or UCL is a completely different level of pressure.

There are a lot of good managers who are not suited to manage big clubs. Emery is one of them.

If Arteta quits Arsenal today, he will have no shortage of suitors. He has a glowing reputation as one of the best young managers in the world.

On the other hand, Emery ruined his reputation when he flopped at both PSG and Arsenal and now no big club is interested in him.

Arsenal is a big club too with deep pockets. There is no reason for Arteta to leave Arsenal for anyone else.

Aston Villa is a small club in contemporary football that lacks the resources to compete for the league.

No top manager or player will waste his career at Aston Villa today. The fact that Emery is content with where he is means that he knows that is his level, his comfort zone.

Also, the fact that other big clubs are not lining him up shows that they don’t rate him after he got exposed at PSG and Arsenal.

If a big club comes in for Emery, he will bail on Villa and pack his bags as quickly as Ancelotti did when Real Madrid called him up while he was at Everton.

However, the big clubs know that Emery does not belong at big clubs.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

On whst Basis is Arteta one of the best Young managers in the world?.

700 million spent, with a solitary FA cup to show for it, unless you count the Biryani dishes (Community Shield as a trophy)

He doesn’t need certifications from you and others. He has already shown his worth as a manager by transforming a joke team into a top 2 side while spending less £ than City, United and Chelsea.

Arsenal a club with deep pockets? 🤣 yeah that's why kronkes wanted self sustaining model and wanted to make a profit in summer. Great ambition

But but Arsenal bought rice for 100M 🤡 since then have bought cheap sub standard trash 🤡

What’s wrong with a self-sustaining model? Most powerful clubs in the world are self-sustaining and Arsenal are leveraging into the based on the fact that it is one of the most high-revenue generating clubs in the world.

Mikel Arteta keen on warm-weather camp for Arsenal after ‘super-busy schedule’

Arsenal are close to formalising a warm-weather training camp in Dubai following their emphatic 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb which put them on the brink of automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16.

Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard scored in a comfortable win at the Emirates Stadium which meant Arsenal could even afford to lose their final group fixture in Girona next week and still be assured of a direct passage through to the next phase.

Arsenal will face Newcastle in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at St James’ Park on February 5.

But their exit from the FA Cup, and likely assurance of not being involved in a two-legged knockout match to reach the last 16 in Europe, means they are set to have a 10-day break before they return to action in the Premier League against Leicester.

Arsenal headed to Dubai for a week-long training camp a year ago – a decision which transformed their season as they dropped only four points in their final 18 league fixtures.

The success of last season’s winter break has fuelled belief of the importance of another camp next month – particularly in the wake of the team’s jam-packed fixture list coming off the back of last summer’s European Championship.

However, it is understood the club are also aware that a break in the Middle East will not necessarily provide them with the silver bullet needed to end their two-decade wait for a title, given Liverpool’s impressive run in the league.

Arsenal are currently six points behind Arne Slot’s men having played a match more.

Asked what impact a winter camp could have on his injury-hit squad, boss Mikel Arteta said: “If we earn the right to do that, it will be great.

“It has been a super-busy schedule, with a lot of demands, especially on the players, and with a lot of things going on.”

Heading into the final round of Champions League matches, Arsenal are third in the table and three points clear of Aston Villa, who currently occupy ninth spot, with a superior goal difference of seven.

The top eight automatically qualify. Their final opponents, Girona, have lost six of their seven matches so far.

Captain Odegaard, who scored just his second goal of the season in stoppage time to complete the victory against Dinamo, said: “With the new format, you don’t know how many points you need.

“That’s been the key thing, to just take it game by game, and make sure we’re there. That’s what we want, so we’re happy, and it’s looking good, but we have to finish the job.”

Arsenal will return to domestic action at Wolves on Saturday, with their trip to Girona followed by a huge league clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Emirates on February 2.

Mikel Arteta sends out thinly-veiled transfer plea and bemoans lack of 'goals' - as Arsenal boss offers William Saliba injury update

A frustrated Mikel Arteta admitted his Arsenal side lacks ‘goals and options’ in a thinly-veiled plea to the ownership for signings in the January transfer window.

The north London club has long been linked to a number of strikers, with those calls intensifying this month over mixed performances and the injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.

The highly-influential Saka is not expected to be back until late March and Jesus is out for months.

That adds to the Gunners’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg and crashing out of the FA Cup third round on penalties to Manchester United earlier this month.

Ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match against Wolves on Saturday, Arteta said: ‘My opinion is clear. We lost two very important players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. We lack goals, we lack people and we lack options. It’s clear.

‘If we can get the right player, that’s why we are actively looking at it (the market). Any player? No. Someone who makes us better. Ideally we need some help because we were very short already, and we’re even shorter now, but the team copes with that.

Arteta confirmed that both Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba could play on Saturday, but will definitely be available next week.

Lewis-Skelly picked up a minor knee injury in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa last weekend, while Saliba sustained a hamstring issue against Tottenham earlier in the month.

Ben White is still not available.

‘With Myles there is nothing serious with the scan, so it’ll be a matter of today’s meeting with the medical staff and our training session,’ he added.

‘We’ll see whether it’s too early or not.

‘With Willy (Saliba), it’s something similar as well. I think he’ll definitely be in for next week, but for this week let’s see how it goes.’

‘Let’s get this hatred out of football’: Mikel Arteta on threats against referee

Mikel Arteta has urged football to prioritise changing the culture that surrounds the game and eradicate “hatred”, saying: “We don’t want it, we don’t need it, it can only damage our sport, so let’s get it out.”

Arteta’s plea was made after police opened an investigation regarding the threats directed at the referee Michael Oliver, whose home was placed under police guard after he sent off Myles Lewis-Skelly for a tackle on Matt Doherty at Wolves on Saturday. The decision was reviewed and upheld by the video assistant referee, Darren England, but Arsenal appealed and the red card was overturned on Tuesday, within hours of the evidence being presented to the Football Association.

Confirmation came through as Lewis-Skelly slept on the team’s flight to their final game of the Champions League first phase, against Girona, with an independent commission upholding the claim of wrongful dismissal.

Arteta, however, said it was time to act after Oliver and his family had received threats and abuse that the Professional Game Match Officials Limited called “abhorrent”. The Arsenal manager said: “Every time I talk about this topic [my view] is the same, regardless of whether it is a player or a coach or a referee. We have to really work harder to try to eradicate that part of the game that brings nothing but bad stuff, bad taste and it makes people’s lives more difficult.”

Asked if that was his message for Arsenal fans, he said: “For everyone in football. It should not be permitted. We don’t want it, we don’t need it, it can only damage our sport, so let’s get it out.

“We’re always putting a lot of emphasis on evolving, on where football is going in the next five, 10 years, on the rules, and all that sort of thing. But one of the most important things we can do to evolve is create an environment that’s much better at a social level, one that’s healthier, that’s nicer, in which we reward things that are not only winning, that when people make mistakes they have the chance to make amends.

“We shouldn’t be here with this hatred, these things we see, because they affect everyone and in the end they take away the joy of this sport, the reason for it – which is to enjoy ourselves, have good moments.

“[We have to] spend more time making the right decisions with the right people to get it out. Then, the same as we have put laws and measures and regulation and that kind of thing … they do that, why haven’t we done it [with this]? We are all talking about it, but no one seems to be moving strongly enough and bringing people with them to get that out of the game, because it’s just unacceptable.”

If these have been difficult days for Lewis-Skelly, there was no sign of that on the flight to Spain. “He was sleeping on the plane when I looked back and I got the news,” Arteta said. “I haven’t spoken to him. I was working and he was at the back, so I didn’t [wake him up]. We are obviously very happy that the decision has been made and that Myles is going to be able to play for us again in the next few games.

“I am not an expert in the field. The club has put all the evidence and everything that they could put together to defend our position, and it was pretty fast. [It’s] so good to know today, that’s helpful, so thank you. It does affect us because we had a lot of uncertainty, not only for Sunday, but for tomorrow and for the next few games as well. So now we have more options, he’s going to be available, which is something very positive for the team.”

'Tenacity, endeavour, composure' - how Arsenal earned statement win

To get a victory like this against such high quality opposition as the defending Premier League champions, you have got to get so many things right.

For Arsenal on Sunday, that list included their mindset and the great variation they had in their play.

Arteta had the gameplan, and his players displayed the tenacity, endeavour and composure to carry it out.

Risk and reward, then commitment and focus

Arsenal 'brave' in 'very special' Man City win - Arteta
Every aspect of Arsenal's defensive work against City was brilliant.

They took risks at the right time with their high press, and got their reward with their first goal - then the same approach almost brought them another one soon afterwards too.

On both occasions, City obviously made mistakes playing out, but you have got to have the bravery to go after them and make them try to take risks, and Arsenal did that early on.

We have not always seen Arsenal do that against City in recent seasons, but it paid off this time.

When they did lose the ball, the Gunners' recovery after the transition was incredible. The athleticism of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard was exceptional and, alongside them, Thomas Partey had an unbelievable game.

You could say the same about their whole team - everyone was at it, in terms of their commitment, but they kept their heads too.

When City started to get back into the game, later in the first half when they began dictating possession and play, Arsenal were disciplined enough to sit and defend their goal.

You cannot press and play with high energy for the full 90 minutes and Arsenal were streetwise enough not to exhaust themselves in the first half and to leave something in the tank.

Their decision-making in terms of when to press and when to drop deep, together with their willingness to do so much running without the ball, was all part of the plan - and they executed it perfectly.

Another excuse list coming
====

Manager Mikel Arteta says he is disappointed by Arsenal's failure to make any signings during the winter transfer window, but praised the club's discipline.

Arsenal were expected to bring in an attacker after Gabriel Jesus suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury last month, while Bukayo Saka is yet to return from a hamstring issue.

"We had a clear intention which is always when a window opens to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can make an impact," Arteta said before Arsenal's EFL Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle on Wednesday.

"With players injured, we've been impacted and we haven't achieved it. We are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well. I think that we were.

"It's in the profile, a player that we believe can make us much better. Financially there is a lot of ways, a lot of things that we must stay in the lane that has taken us this far and from there try to improve."

Speaking to BBC Sport before Arteta's news conference, football finance expert Kieran Maguire explained that Arsenal's lack of business was a decision made in a tough market for buyers.

"As far as the market they would be looking at [is concerned] there are relatively few players," Maguire said.

"We've got the extension of the Champions League and Europa League [into January] so clubs were reluctant to sell.

"So if Arsenal wanted to recruit they've really got to go into a rarefied market. I guess they felt there wasn't somebody who would improve the starting XI or regular 16."

Arteta said the Arsenal front line will have to be "flexible" and that he might have to "try something different" because of injuries.

Three players left Arsenal during the window, with defenders Ayden Heaven, 17, and Josh Robinson, 20, joining Manchester United and Wigan Athletic respectively.

Brazilian attacker Marquinhos joined Cruzeiro on loan until the end of the season.

Arsenal are second in the Premier League following Sunday's 5-1 win over Manchester City, six points behind leaders Liverpool having played one game more.
