You haven’t answered the question ...I didn’t ask ‘did Arteta get everyone he wanted?’
I asked whether he’s been backed more than Emery...
Our manager at Villa has been backed but we didn’t land one of our main targets ...
I suppose we shouldn’t judge Lampard yet because he didn’t land Rice...
Arteta has been backed more than Wenger ...honestly can’t believe ‘he’s not been backed’ is your argument...it’s just so obviously untrue ...
And you prove my point with your penultimate paragraph ...Emery wasn’t backed ...
Again you haven’t provided an actual reason why Arteta is a good managed ...’if’ is not how to construct an argument ...
Btw you make the point about Emery not being able to communicate ...seems Arteta seems to be alienating half the squad at present ...so what are his assets...his man management?...if so give me examples ...
Is it his playing style?...if so actually tell me what his philosophy is ...
You have made plenty of posts defending Arteta but aren’t actually giving any reasons...
He hasn’t signed everyone he wants is not a reason...otherwise no managed can be judged...
Did you blame the players or Emery when he got sacked?...
Lampard didn’t get Rice but he got Werner, Ziyech, Havertz and Thiago Silva. Four players that he wanted and weren’t forced on him by the board. He got what he wanted and he has started to show results.
If he wasn’t backed in the market, he would be struggling today and people like you would be calling him a bad manager, because you don’t have the vision to look beyond shot-term results.
I have already given you the reasons why I think Arteta has all the qualities to be a top manager. For your convenience I will list them again.
He showed a lot of leadership throughout his playing career. He was a leader at Everton, and he was a leader at Arsenal + official club captain.
Every manager that has worked with him has always backed him to become a great manager one day. Listen to what Pochettino has said about Arteta.
He was in PSG when Arteta joined the club as a teenager, and Pochettino said he had the brain of a 30 year old and spoke like a manager even then.
As a player he was always extremely intelligent and made the most of his limited physical talent. A physically talented player with Arteta’s brain would have done wonders.
He was handpicked by Guardiola to be his number 2 because he saw qualities in him. The likes of Sterling and Sane have explicitly praised his impact and how much he helped them at an individual level.
At City, he also showed his tactical nous. Many times after scoring goals, Pep would point to Arteta and praise his assistance. In 2017-18 and 2018-19, City scored a lot of goals with cutback crosses, and it was Arteta who advised that tactic.
This isn’t the only instance where he has shown his value in terms of in-game tactics. He was quite cleverly more than just a laundry man or iPad merchant at Man City, that is a cry ignorant opinion.
All of these reasons have me convinced that Arteta will be a great manager as long as he is backed by the board in the market. No manager in the world can win trophies without getting the players that he needs.
You will of course discard all of this because you made up your mind that Arteta is crap, and that is why I ignored your question when you asked me to prove his credentials.
I cannot change your mind over his credentials as a coach just like you cannot change my mind. So where do we go from here? You can say what you want now, but let’s see who will have the last laugh.
I will bump this thread in the future when he turns things around, just you like you will bump it if he gets sacked.
