So, do we play an unchanged XI for this game in Lahore?

Or bring in Saud Shakeel and a few others?

Knowing Pak team management, it will be unchanged 11.. Another fast bowler is must, but i think it wont happen..

I think Fakhar should be replaced with Abdullah Shafiq because Fakhar is currently out of form, so he should be given some rest.

Nawaz will be dropped for Faheem in my opinion, although I would bring in Wasin J, who is better bowler and capable of scoring 15 runs Faheem would score. Unfortunately Iftikhar knock against Nepal means no place for Saud yet.

I believe it's likely to be Pakistan versus Bangladesh as I doubt Afghanistan can defeat Sri Lanka by a significant margin.

Faheem is a good for nothing player. Might as well stick with Nawaz or play M Waseem.

saud must be replaced with salman agha.. salman seems so fragile when he comes to bat. no technique at all.

Will be same XI and it should be unless you get a pacer friendly track. It was unexpected in the last match and maybe that happens again but is unlikely.

Also, if anyone thinks Faheem is actually good at ODI's, then go take a look at his career stats. He's a useful Test & T20 player depending on conditions but has been pretty bad in both batting & bowling in his ODI career.

The only change I will consider is Nawaz for Wasim Jnr everyone else stays in the team.

Naseem Shah holds media talk

Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah held a media talk at the National Cricket Academy on the sidelines of the team’s training session. Pakistan will play their first Super 4 match tomorrow at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The transcript of the media talk is below:

“There are still a few days before the India game. Our focus is on tomorrow’s game, whomever it is against. Our focus is to play our best cricket here and go to Sri Lanka with a win. We will see about the game versus India when it is closer.”

“We cannot talk about the past, but the current team and combination, and the way we are playing, makes us hopeful about winning the Asia Cup and doing well in the World Cup too. You cannot think about past performances, as they mentally affect you. We are hopeful about playing good cricket and winning.”

The conditions differ in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. We have gotten used to Sri Lankan conditions because of Test series and Lanka Premier League (LPL). Pakistan conditions are slightly different. You have to be disciplined in One-Day cricket, no matter where you are playing, as a bowling unit, you have to produce disciplined bowling, no matter what kind of wicket it is. We are aware of both these places, so we do our best to adjust well.”

“To be honest, it is not easy, especially speaking as a fast bowler. But as a professional, no matter what the schedule is, you have to accept it. We try our best to recover well and take care of ourselves while training, especially because we know the weather is hot. There is nothing you can do about the schedule.”

“I want to be Naseem Shah, a bowler of my own kind. Imran Khan, Wasim Akram are all big bowlers but every person is different. You can pick the things that they have done right but you cannot become them.”

“We just want to win the final. It does not matter who we play in the final, we just wish to win it.”

“I like to be useful to the team wherever I am required. Shaheen takes chances early in the innings to take wickets. I try to make sure chances are created, and runs aren’t leaked from the other end. Whatever the team requirement is, I make sure to give my 100%.”

i am not sure our win is guaranteed...they have a very good experienced team with good bowlers

but keeping Nawaz in the playing XI is a necessity as we lack other strong all-round options available right now. It's essential to include Imad Wasim in the squad.
If the pitch has some spin then no problem play Nawaz and Shadab but if its going to be no spin then I will go with a seamer because its not like Nawaz will bat many overs unless he is promoted.

Match vs Bangladesh is confirmed for Pakistan

Wait Afghanistan is out? Bit unprofessional here by PCB no?

So Pak picks Fahim Ashraf over Wasim Jnr, as fourth fast bowler? Wowww!! So it means, Pak will play Fahim over Wasim Jnr, against India too? who is no better than Mohammad Nawaz in bowling…Also, as per media reports, Pak is not considering Fahim for world cup squad…so why playing Fahim over Wasim Jnr, instead of giving match practice to Wasim Nnr? Really we have some geniuses in our team management

Fahim on basis of what? This guy is neither a bowler nor a batsman. Bangladeshi batsmen will smash him like no tomorrow. Fahim and Hasan are most useless but favorable player I have ever seen.

Its friend's team where winning a cup is not that important. First with Hasan Ali and now Fahim. Loosing this match and we are done for this tournament.

Babar has one track mind and Micky is there for show. We needed tough guy like Andy as a coach whom Babar cannot dictate.

Faheem will get smacked 😪. Pakistan should still easily win though. I don't see bangla beating us.

Would love Andy flower. He did such a good job in England and even Multan sultans. I presume PCB have done all they can to try and persuade him though. And if he were available probably any other country would take him in a heartbeat.

Fahim is a poor player and Wasim Jnr is twice the bowler fahim is and was.

i think faheem inclusion is a reactionary decision, they should have gone with either wasim jr. or with the same nawaz, most pitches in india later on will be spin friendly or truer batting pitches

we have to think about Asia Cup right now and pitches here are more pace friendly. So forget about world cup for now.

As I predicted Pakistan have made the change from Nawaz to pacer, so now if Faheem gets tonked they should replace him with Wasim J

If they play the same 11 against India..which I am sure they will..otherwise they would have selected Wasim Jnr here only..Indian batters will smash Faheem hard..so no diffrence between Faheem AND nawaz..the whole purpose of including another seamer in place of Nawaz will be lost..

i am seriously puzzled..who is the genius who is making these calls.. only thinking is to make batting deep..but then whats the purpose of replacing Nawaz?

they have inculuded faheem ashraf in place of nawaz.. rest of the side will remain same.

Its gonna be a high scoring game for sure so we need strong batting lineup.

Not a great decision. Faheem’s bowling has regressed, while his batting has been quite terrible to be honest.

Yes, his batting performance has been below par but I believe he can excel with his bowling skills especially considering that Bangladesh doesn't handle fast bowling comfortably.

@Saj Can we somehow get to know..who is in the dominating position in Pak team managemnt? Who is calling fimal shots and who holds most power in selection? Does babar have final say or Mickey or Grant‘s input is more important In selection of final 11?

Wasim Jnr is a muchmuch better bowler than Faheem.. wasim Jnr would surely trouble Bangladeshi battrs more than Faheem

also Shaheen and Naseem will bowl the first spell..so Faheem will come after one change, along with Haris.. Fahim will be even more ineffective with slightly older ball…but Wasim is an expert in bowling in middle overs and death..

Wasim is a better choice than Faheem. He is quicker, has good yorkers and can bowl reverse swing.Faheem is a better batter but he rarely makes big scores. He is not an allrounder.PCB should find a couple of fast bowling allrounders from domestic cricket and develope them.Shaheen and Naseem can score 15 runs if they play sensibly. They are not mugs with the bat.To win games you need good bowling attack. An extra batsman is not going to make a big difference

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the top scorer of Asia Cup so far with 89 and 104 in the two matches is out of the tournament with an injury. Big blow that for Bangladesh batting line-up, given Tamim Iqbal is out with injury too!

I believe that opting to bowl first after winning the toss would be advantageous as batting second tends to be a winning factor in Gaddafi Stadium.

In the second innings the pitch tends to flatten out making it easier to accumulate runs.

More Importantly we can't underestimate the batting lineup of Bangladesh they are very much capable of scoring high runs.

Bangladesh shrivel when they play us. Like we do V Australia.

BAN has too many lefties especially in the top order although appreciate Shanto will be replaced by Liton. The matchup of left arm finger spinner probably doesn't make sense against BAN so makes sense to pick the seamer. Hope Rana comes good for a change!

yeah for match against bangladesh we cant add abrar into 11 for sure we have to go with faheem.

Abrar can be added into the worldcup squad as we will get spin friendly tracks in India.

Faheem Ashraf looked very impressive vs Afghanistan, he bowled well so that might be why he has been picked

A win is absolutely vital if the forecast is showing a lot of shared points for the rest of the tournament. Don't want to be stuck doing NRR chases like Afghanistan today.

I understand that Faheem has also been difficult to play in the nets.

The problem with Faheem is that the margin for error with his bowling is small and the pressure of a match situation is a different kettle of fish to net bowling.

But if he gets it right i think a lot of his doubters could be eating humble pie this time tomorrow.

So wash out tomorrow or half match? weather report shows rain ...
