Australia (133/6) take slender lead of 2 runs but India in control at Stumps on Day 3 of 2nd Test

Just ball bouncers to these Australian bowlers .no Mercy

Great character shown by India to come back after that 36 drubbing. Well Done, many other teams would have folded after that. :shezzy2

Oof! So Snicko with no other support & no proof what caused a noise is enough to overturn? To support fair enough but overturn? Boo!

India right on top & smashing Oz here. India made some great selection calls & Oz has got their team all muddled with 1 poor opener & 1 makeshift T20 opener + some anonymous guys like Head filling spots.
Do you think having Big Bash along side Sheffield Shield is decreasing the quality of your test batsmen?

Siraj did well to dismiss Wade but Ashwin should be called up now.

Also great captaincy by Rahane, he should replace Kohli as the permanent test captain.

Dont know about that.. even Kohli had Aussies on the mat for 70 odd for 6 in Adelaide, didn’t it? If they had not collapsed so badly, they would have been up 2-0 now.

This fighting spirit is Kohli’s legacy. He has instilled tenacity and proper aggression in this Indian side.

Really? He comes across as pseudo-aggressive to me as a captain and often passive when under the pump, but I guess to each their own.

India making Aussies look like softies in this match. In their backyard.

Yup totally, his legacy is the one thing which was always lacking in Indian cricket- aggressive pace bowling!

India have learned how to play and over time, win in Australia after a myriad of TEST/ODIs/T20Is series in Australia in a very short amount of time.

Hoping we continue producing quality bowlers because that's how you win tests overseas.

All credit to Bumrah, Ashwin and the support cast. Great leadership skills shown by Rahane. He may hit more hundreds in future but this performance will be the highest point of his career.

He has changed Indian cricket forever. He has put these bowlers in shape and instilled fire in them.

The scheduling? Yes.

No-one wants the BBL as long as it is. Even players earning money from it said it is far too long now. Viewers & crowds are in decline (ignore crowds this year obviously, but the trend is down & viewers are still sliding).

BBL should be a month, during school holidays. Ok it interrupts the Shield but ok, fans like a summer crowd pleaser and one month is not too long.

The way it has been last couple of years is not good.

But selections for this match are more to blame. Wade has never opened in red ball cricket in his life. Doesn't even open in ODI, T20 only. Burns was battling too badly, Pucjovski was fit, he should play.

Shield is stronger than it was 5-10 year ago but still needs to carry on improving.

He is one of the most committed and tenacious cricketers ever. One of the few Asian players to take on Australian sledging, he has also forced his fast bowlers into shape and made them a key component of the team.

His greatness as a leader goes beyond his 33 Test wins as captain and 4 year reign at the top of rankings.

Also helps when you play for the cash cow of the ICC. :shezzy2

I said if both Warner and Smith play. Only one of them is playing. And good to see you here active again. You ran away after we got all out on 36. Plastic fan. :inti

Loving this :yk
We are without Kohli, Shami and Ishant ::ssmith
As i said you are getting some phainty on this tour.First Pnadya,Saha,Pant, now this victory
Thrashing aus in aus with a C team that's what this team is capable of.

Thanks for the answer. But is Pucowski good enough for international cricket considering his many concussions? I have seen how he ducked into the bouncer by Tyagi during the A match and it didn’t look he was comfortable against short pitch bowling. And the likes of Bumrah would come hard at him to exploit that.

Cummins chipping away at whatever lead is remaining.

He's been known to score runs when needed but he's just a good #8, not a real allrounder. Big ask to hope for more than a cameo from him. Asking him to build the lead would be a career highlight type knock.

Rohit is also Mumbai boy. Hand over captaincy to Mumbai boys then. They are very patient and grounded

I have a feeling both Green and Cummins are going to score big centuries in this innings to rescue australia

I have been saying from day 1 , India will win this, Aussies batting is no force, they will need extraordinary bowling to win test matches.

I don't know if Pucjovski will succeed at Tests. But he has been head & shoulders above the rest for a couple of shield seasons & has that rare ability to score massive tons, which is a bit like bowling fast- you got it or you don't & he can.

Rest assured Shield cricket is hard fought & he is targeted in every which way by 145k bowlers regularly enough in Shield. Absolutely Bumrah is better than a shield bowler & a whole new challenge but my position is;

If Pucjovski is cleared by doctors, then he can play.

If Pucjiovski is not retired - then he gets the opportunity to try for Australia.

His technique has earnt him the spot of best domestic batsman in Oz & that deserves trial at the highest level.

No impact looking at the scorecard

I'm worried he's too focussed on surviving, not thriving. We haven't seen him play the way he can really play yet. He's trying his very hardest not to let everyone down, but not actually playing his best- if that makes sense.

Surely you have some more names than Burns Wade Head Green who can bat

Din't you have a feeling that Smith would score a big century in this innings :))

Looks like Pant dropped easy catch.
This is second time, replays are not showing.

Harris & Usman would be others really on the list (Pucjovski & Warner injured). Both having decent Shield seasons but not banging the door down. Uzzie has the better Test record but his away average is 24, so he's always on the edge of being dropped after every tour & patience runs out.

We have the Marshes but they are like Hafeez & Malik- please, please not again!

I am getting a phainty? For what and I am here all day long whether we win or lose. I don't run away when my team gets all out on 36 like you did. Just because I am against your baby boys, doesn't mean I am not supporting India here. And hold you horses we haven't won this match yet. :inti

I was talking domestic. I know these names. I don’t believe Warner will make much of an impact. India will have plans for him. 5 and 6 look like club level batsmen. That is where the meat is needed. May be Shaun Marsh. He will at the least stay and tire the bowlers

Green should look to score runs, it doesn't suit a young talented all-rounder to bat at Pujara's pace.

As of now he is very raw vs pace and sitting duck vs spin. Imagine him in Asian conditions it will be bloodbath.

Yeah he will struggle in Asia comfortably. Need to work on his game against spin and is a bit of scattergun as a bowler.

I know india bowled well but this Pak esque run rate is what costed Oz. if they wetn at even 3rpo they would be 60 odd ahead by now and still would have realistic chance to make it interesting, it aslo disturb bowler ryhtm and put pressure back, right now they are playing like sitting ducks, waiting for the ball with their name on it. Sad to see how rubbish they are bar Smith and Warner for a long time, Labu is half decent so out of 7 batsman they actually have 2.5 and rest are just filling numbers.

New Excuse for the sad trolls. David Warner was not playing this time

So even if India wins - its totally undeserving :P :P

Remember we only have 5 FC teams. There is not huge numbers of untried players out there.

When you consider 2 high choice openers out injured, a few other TTF's around (Renshaw, Bancroft) & the players already discussed then really, that's it right now. Otherwise your down at #6, 7, 8 on the runs list & they haven't done enough for multiple seasons to deserve selection.

Shield focus is all on providing tough cricket at the pointy end, not a vast supply of options.

I think the poor run rate is showing how much Warner is relied on at home.

Then compounded by the fact that we have 4-5 other players ALL playing just to keep their position in the side- so they are being really careful & not counter attacking with freedom like Oz sides of old.

Head, Wade, Green, Paine, Burns - ALL of them are/have been recent selections or under criticism for their place as recently as a single test ago. That's almost the entire lineup under big pressure.

Rishabh Pant has now dropped 11 catches in Test cricket - since the start of 2018, no keeper has dropped more.

He averages 48, that's what matters.

It doesn’t as much. Very soon he will be out of the team when India start winning abroad frequently . Either ways I hate his style of batting. Mentally he has lost it event before he comes out to bat
