Horrible stuff from Smith, the milestone was clearly on his mind, but credit to the captain & bowler for setting him up

Head just needs to attack and get 50 odd runs. game will be over. Poking is bad on this pitch.

Sour grapes from Alan Border.

It’s been a good test pitch actually - that’s what makes Test cricket exciting to watch.

Kohli is capable of maximising the benefits from the scenario before him however, they are poking because they are under pressure despite the low total and you still need to get your eye in on this pitch

He started off as a tail-ender I believe. Became a batter later on.

Yes, not even Younis Khan was this jittery, but ice ran through his veins and the milestones never plagued his mind. Smith was dancing at the crease today, reminded me of my hero :rizwan

Please read ser. I was talking about the BGT trophy.
But that was the biggest bottle job in the history of bottle jobs you made my team Arsenal look like Real Madrid.

1.2 Billion people, at home, 120k at the stadium and you bottled it in the world cup final😂

Its pathetic for test cricket. If same match happening in india or subcontinent , kost of talk about pitch rather than match. Lol

:kp

Two pacers will not be enough, tough series for Indian team but will separate out the future men from boys

Aus got this. India does not have firepower to bowl out Aus for 150 odd runs here.

We lost but good effort .missed shami a lot

Congratulations australia for winning the BGT series at home after a decade.

The pitch has stayed consistent for both teams.

That’s the ideal test wicket. Tests both bowling and batting.

Maybe slightly too much for the bowlers but rather this than a flat pitch.

only after getting out on 199 and 193 in 2 consecutive tests did Younis relax about nearing milestones.

SIraj 5 test series.. he has no fuel in the tank. He has to share the absence of Bumrah as well. India should have gone with additional seamer instead of Jadeja or sundar

Have to admit one thing though, Kohli was a good captain. Far better than clueless Rohit.
Had Rohit captained Boland and LYon would have added 50 runs partnership for last wicket. He is the worst captain I have ever seen for India. That NZ match where Southee added 100 runs with Rachin was the best one. Bumrah did not bowl a single ball to them.

India needed to score 250 to be in the game without Bumrah. With just 2 main seamers and 1 part time seamer it is beyond impossible

He's too laid back and not proactive enough. Let's the match drift away. He is lucky Bumrah and Pandya delivered in that final.

It was always going to get difficult playing 8 tests straight. India took lot of risk exposing Bumrah to Injury. Made a good call this morning and protected star bowler for tournament next month

They also played Bumrah against Bangladesh. So, Bumrah played a lot of Tests recently.

And SKY pulled off a blinder too. TOo many things went for him. Even in IPL the matches he won were due to Malinga or Bumrah in the last over. WOn by 2 runs, 1 run something like that

Bumrah was bowled into the ground in the last match. He bowled something like 41 overs in that match. He has never bowled as many in a test match before. Other bowlers have badly failed at shouldering the load.

He is very lucky. But the thing about luck is that you never know when it will run out.

He did not use Sundar at all. Also he did not give enough overs to Reddy. Those three all rounders were not picked to cover for Bumrah. They were picked to cover his pathetic batting.

He is super fit though , despite bowling heaps of over , never lost intensity

Kohli cost India quite a few tests through his captaincy tbh. Refusing practice matches etc.
He won India more matches than any captain too.

As for practice matches, I don't think they are necessary. It's about what works for you. India rarely have practice matches before tours. And even if they do they feature fringe players who may play in the series.

Rahane is probably the best captain we have never had for long time. He keeps the spirits high. At the MCG he was playing a blinder. Made a 100. But Jadeja ran him out. Before he left he went to Jadeja and patted him on his shoulder to continue. No antics. Entire unit played as a team. No meltdowns. Precise field placements. Gun bowling rotation.

Rohit is very laid back, fat & lethargic, great batter still but such a personality is not going resonate with the default DNA of the Indians which is also very laid back etc Whereas Kohli, who is the complete opposite & always on edge, helped transform the mentality of their bowlers and is much better equipped to squeeze the most out of average bowlers, they looked completely toothless a not so long ago!
