Australia (511 & 69/2) defeat England (334 & 241) by 8 wickets in the second Ashes Test to go 2-0 up in the 5-match series

I feel if Australia Bats today, they could easily be down 4 down before end of days play. Don't see Travis Head doing much under lights vs the pink ball
 
Once again England are throwing their wickets! Root left Stokes in no man's land there. Imperative he goes on to get a Hundred.
 
Flattest Aussie pitch seen in a long time. It's the pink ball and the light conditions that have caused any problems for the batsmen
 
No Nathan Lyon is beggining to tell for Aus, pathetic over rate.....

also not good for rest of series if quicks bowl their third and fourth spells...Eng headed for a big score and good game to them...
however, cannot rule out Oz - pitch can only be judged after both teams have batted.
 
My gawd if Cummins and Hazelwood played Eng wouldve struggled to get 150 here. What a lucky lucky break for Joe Root to get his 100 mainly facing terrible Aussie bowlers barring Starc.. Root has to go on and make a 150 here to put Eng in a commanding position..
 
5 for Starc, brilliant was a 1 man effort with almost no support from the other end...
 
50 partnership will hurt AUS very badly & ENG like idiots opted for batting depth at 8 in place of a bowler [ Tongue imo ]
 
Root has been fantastic in this inning... Crawley and Root probably saved them from another humiliation of low score.

No. asterisk on his hundred because Australia bowling attacks is very poor here.

Remembered how some indian :inti and pakistan posters had put asterisk on Indian series win in australia when Warner and Smith didn't Played.

Starc replied: "I won't be calling myself that."

"I'll reflect on it later, Wasim's still a far better bowler than I am. So as far as I'm concerned he's still the pinnacle of left-armers and certainly right up there with bowlers to ever play the game. So it's nice to be spoken of up around that, but I'll just try and keep churning a few out."

Very humble from Starc.

SENA players are generally not obsessed with personal milestones.
 
Great moment for Root to finally get that monkey off his back.

Crucial morning tomorrow. Smith mentioned before the game that since the Brisbane pitch is harder and drier than Adelaide, the pink ball will get softer quicker so it should be easier for the batsmen once they survive the new ball.
 
Starc has great numbers... Brilliant bowler, hardworking..

But seeing root scoring a century finally in australia was good stuff as well... Saved his team from low score embarrassment
 
And that's a wrap. Solid performance by root, Tough task for Australia up ahead.
 
Anyway here are my predictions

1) Head wont perform as he usually has one or 2 goat innings with him per series.

2) Steve Smith will nullify the score. I expect a repeat of his classic ashes performance.

3) Labu will get a 50.

4) Green, Carey will contribute.

5) Inglis will fail.
 
330 runs is too much for this Aus line-up with only 2 bats in form.

I feel England will get a 140 run lead and eventually win the game 1-1 coming up.

It's not a fluke innings. You don't score a 4th innings test 100 via a fluke lol.

Head is inconsistent, but he is a fine batsmen when onsong. And in test cricket he's always been good on aussie soil.
 
Aus picked Weatherald ahead of Khawaja. Might not have been the best move. Would have made sense if it was Renshaw.

That was an ATG hundred.

2-3 hundreds in India series were also fluke.
Hundred in WTC final. In ODI World Cup final.

He has bossed India on big occasions just accept that don't be so bitter about that.

Every innings by any batsmen not named Indian is a fluke for them.

I never said the 100 wasn't quality innings was one of the best I have seen in a long time but that was an anomaly, Archer looked injured, tired and Wood was also bowling with no bite...

Don't expect Travis Head to save Aus in this test match, I fully expect Eng to win this.
 
As I said earlier once Hazlewood Starc, Cummins and Lyon retire after current WTC cycle Australia team will becomes Minnows . Upcoming players are not quality players.

They won't. For them to win they need bowlers.

The issue with england is that they have quality batsmen and they bat deep. But their batters are only good at home den minus root who is world class in any den.

Outside home den england atters are okayish. Their not bad, but their not world class by any means. For them to win you need decent bowlers and these bowlers are doo doo.

Also I dont get the hype you guys keep creating around Archer. He had one dream bowling spell vs India and India cant even beat sa and nz at home anymore.

Beyond that hes hardly played test, is out of practise and minus that one dream spell, india smacked him in the later tests and Australia has been smacking him left and right as well?

Ironically ben stokes has been bowling 100x better then Archer who is supposed to be England's ace bowler
 
@Nikhil_cric clear sign of pitch is going to detoriated /break, Australia will miss Lyon in second innings.lyon should have played instead One of Neser/Doggett .

Team have declared when 8/9 Wickets falls because bowl is moving under lights. I completely forget barring Starc, Australia bowling attacks is Zimbabwe level. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡😂😂😂😂😂
