Just under 4 hours until the toss!

This will be the first Test at Gaddafi Stadium since that fateful morning in March 2009.

With the series tied at 0-0, it will also be the series-decider. So both a crucial and historic match awaits, hopefully a pitch can be prepared to fit the occasion!

What XI would you pick and what toss decision would you make?

Discuss.

===============================================

The series heads to Lahore for the third and final Test and both teams will be keen to register a series-clinching victory.

Overview

Pakistan vs Australia, third Test
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Pakistan
21-25 March, 10:00 local

An expected dry and dusty pitch at Gaddafi Stadium means spin will once again play a major part in deciding how the third and final Test between Pakistan and Australia plays out.

The teams head to Lahore on the back of two consecutive draws and there is plenty to play for in the series decider in Pakistan’s second largest city.

Not only will a win for either side see them claim the three-match series, but there are also valuable ICC World Test Championship points up for grabs in the race to feature at next year's final.

Australia currently lead the standings with a win percentage of 71.42%, but their third-Test rival are sitting just behind them in second with a win percentage of 61.11%.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins has already declared his side will use the same XI that featured in Karachi, while Pakistan aren't expected to make too many changes to their team.

Leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood may be included instead of fellow tweakers Nauman Ali or Sajid Khan, but Pakistan will largely rely on the same players that have performed reasonably well against Australia.

Remember the last time

You have to go back to November 1994 to find the last time that Pakistan hosted Australia in a Test in Lahore and the match ended tamely on the fifth and final day as it petered out to a draw.

Champion leg-spinner Shane Warne took 6/136 during Pakistan's first innings, but a stylish 115 from wicketkeeper Moin Khan helped the hosts post a competitive 373.

Michael Bevan (91) top-scored in reply as Australia put 455 on the board in their first innings, yet there were no final day fireworks as centuries to skipper Saleem Malik (143) and left-hander Aamer Sohail (105) ensured an early finish to the match.

What they said

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "I feel it (the pitch) will definitely give turn. It has small cracks from where spinners get help and patches are formed."

Australia captain Pat Cummins: "We were really happy with how all 11 players went last Test. Everyone has pulled up really well. We gave them an extra couple of days to make sure everyone has come up good. But there's no injury worries, everyone is freshened up, so we're confident in the XI."

Pakistan squad: Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Zahid Mahmood

Australia squad: Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner. On standby: Sean Abbott, Brendan Doggett, Nic Maddinson, Matthew Renshaw

According to the ticket site, about 5.5k unsold tickets for day 1. If true it's going to be a good turnout considering it's weekday.

Before the series, people were saying that Lahore is the 'batting track', Karachi is the spinner track, and Rawalpindi is the fast bowler track. So according to this, the Lahore pitch will be more of a highway than the Pindi and Karachi highway pitches, and this match will be a more boring draw.

This is more than enough for Ramiz Raja to be sacked.

It's an absolute Patta according to various sources, would be very surprised if there is a different result in the match .

I was hoping for a turning pitch , absolute mine field , innings where the score is between 150 - 200

Australia have won the toss elected to bat first in the 3rd and final Test against Pakistan being played in Lahore

Not going to watch.
Lost all interest in the series during the first test, didn't watch the second.
Utterly repulsive cowardice on display.
Ramiz first saying we don't have the pitches (lie, just look at the SA series) and then putting on the show of calling an Australian curator, which is meaningless cover for another dead pitch. Lost all respect for him, and all who are going along with this charade of a series.
Hard to believe the praise that came Pakistan's way after the last draw, as if those centuries meant anything.
0-0 series on its way, as I predicted, shameful mockery of what could have been a historic test series.
Now watch these players get all excited for the ODIs and the T-20.

Interesting decision to keep Faheem out. Team management have a lot of faith in out of form Hasan. Also Sajid should have been replaced

Pak batting become more weak as we have only 5 proper batsmen + WK batsman & 5 bowlers

Spot on. Pathetic behavior by PCB with roads.

That said, 4th innings heroics by Pak batter in 2nd test were historic.

Let's see this one. I got a feeling we will have a result in this one, Insha'Allah in Pak's favour.

Will Aussie openers luck run out against Shaheen?

I hope we don't drop catches.

Shaheen should be able to create early chances!

Excellent change. Could have been Rauf also, but the management decided to stick with Naseem. If Pakistan bowlers can restrict Australia to around 300/350 then it's game on. Not going to be easy, but you never know when the ball gets older.

After the toss.. Itz 60-40 to Australia

longish tail and add to it we are bowling first hopefuuly the 3 seamers will make it count

Looks like pitch is really flat hence they are going with 5 bowlers

Hopefully this is the last test for most useless cricketer ever fawad Alam but knowing him he will score some impactless runs in this game just like loser Asad Shafiq

No swing. And imam drops a possible catch. He is too scared for that short leg position.

Rameez should be asked questions for preparing these pitches.
I m happy he has sacked misbah and company his job is done.now he can say goodbye after this shambolic tour.
Very sharamful behaviour by rameez producing these lifeless tracks.

Australia will once again get a big score in the first innings and then Pakistan will be chasing the game and struggling to secure a draw.

Afridi has ripped through Australia top order here. Diamond.

Hassan and Naseem need to support Afridi and not leak runs.

All the top experts and pitch curators of pakpassion should just stay quite and forget the word phatta

Taking advantage of the new ball. Even in pindi we would have had wickets early, had we taken catches

Finally we took the opportunity to take advantage with pace bowling off of a fresh pitch, and a new ball. Great!

NOW, it's super important that we don't go back on the back or relax ourselves in a defensive mode. Go harder on them and continue with the onslaught, otherwise, they will come back and defy this early advantage.

Brilliant from Shaheen. Turning out to be a good toss to lose

Pitch has got nothing to do with it.It's good bowling by shahee.
This is a flat wicket.

Remember how Shaheen bowled a top spell up front in Pindi too. He was just unlucky not to get a wicket there... So, again, I still think pitch isn't offering much and the couple of wickets have been down to Shaheen's skill with the new ball.

Look at Hassan, looks totally toothless.

WK and Slip need to come closer a couple of meters when Smith faces Hasan Ali. Bowler is setting up the batter for an outside edge here.

This pitch is atleast as slow and flat as Karachi. Kudos to Shaheen for enforcing mistakes early on to create pressure on Aussies.

Why in the world are they playing this old PSL song in the stadium? Also, this was one of the worst PSL anthems... weird choice.

Azhar is so unathletic :))) The guy was falling backwards as he was throwing the ball! lol

True.
Shaheen's new ball spell on the greatest of roads is still a challenge. He was unlucky in pindi. Today he has finally lucky for a change.

Can't be confident until we get Smith. Here's a guy who is literally made for crisis situations. That's where he steps up like no other.

Yeah shaheen's got very good skills with new ball.
Pitch is flat it's gonna be same boring draw until and unless Pakistan restrict them under 300-350.

What a start by Shaheen!

Feel like Naseem would be much more threatening to Khawaja if he comes over the wicket.

Good start by Pakistan. But our team combination questionable. Such a long tail against Starc is too dangerous. He can bowled them in a span of 10 deliveries.

Looked harmless to me. Not an centimeter of movement with the new ball

Not everything is about movement. He didn't give anything away and Rob Key mentioned how Khawaja's technique was opening up, which tells you he is having difficulty dealing with the pace and the line and length.

I think the series saving innings from Nauman gave them the confidence to go in with 5 fulltime bowlers

But movement is required to create doubt in batsman's mind. He's got to shape a few in first.
Dale steyn never had an inswinger for rightys but he did get a lot of lbws with his straight ball because most of his deliveries came with a beautiful shape away.
Naseem will never be successful of he doesnt learn to swing it. Already he's hampered by lack of height

Honestly if your top 6 fails, its futile to expect your No.7 to do something special.

Nauman, Sajid and Fawad again. We deserve to loose this test. Yes man Saqlain needs to be booted out.

Not always. You can get batters with raw pace and bounce too. This is not a greentop which is why you need that on wickets like these.

Naseem can swing the ball but there's only so much you can do on unhelpful surfaces. And this is another flat surface eventhough it seems to be a better one than the last two.

Too full by Hassan. He's trying hard but is struggling with the length.

smith is back in form in the right time for australia. pindi and karachi must have given him alot of confidence
