Lack of good spinners in pakistan domestic is a big upset and the reason are no pitches help the spinners. We need better curators.

Its not about pitches only...both these spinners have been poor and struggled to even land the ball consistently on a spot

Good sharp low catch by Azam.
Khwaja in terrific form but gets out in 90's.
Door opens for pak, if they can get a few, will be intresting

With that longish tail Pakistan cannot afford any hiccup anyways hoping for a cluster of wickets to fell

Naseem should be motivated and groomed for Test cricket and T20 only no need for thing of a past ODI's

38 overs to spinners on day one before the new ball is a bit too many when you are playing 3 quick bowlers.

Australia should be 5 down but Head is still out there thanks to Uncle Sajid's drop.

No 2nd slip even though Travis Head hasn't looked comfortable at all during his stay.

We would be into Australia's tail by now if not for pathetic tactics and fielding.

Impressive bowling by Shah, i think he has got the lengths right. Pitching it up and hoping for reverse at speed is always tough to face

This Nauman uncle is one of the worst spinners I have ever seen. We might as well bring Yasir Shah back. He will probably still do a better job.

Yes Naseem! Get's that edge again from Head and gets a crucial breakthrough with the new ball due up.

Naseem is an inspired selection. Feeling very happy for the lad. Imagine if it was fighter faheem in place of him.

terrific bowling by shah, so good to see young quick bowler learn from previous mistakes and improve

Need to expose tail before stumps. Naseem not the finished article by any means but this has been one of his best days in international cricket.

AUS under pressure now.

Need to get rid of test fighters in Azhar, Fawad, Nauman, Sajid and this team will look very capable of a WTC final.

If we had a green top, we would have bowled them out by now.

It's so good to see Naseem bowling well and picking up wickets.
He has bowled extremely well with discipline and he has that slingy action which aids in reverse swing.

Naseem has been tremendous, he has the potential to partner up with Shaheen and become a formidable pair.

Mamoon are you still around?

He has been hiding after his last post 'Pakistan will loose by 350 runs in Karachi'.

Expecting him to be around during Pakistan's batting collapse.

we need another 2 wickets here to really have an advantage. We will have to bat better then we did in 1st inns last match when we do here.

Might not work in Pakistan’s favour this new ball

Our guys just can't hit a consistent channel around top of offstump with the new ball. This has been a chronic issue for many years now since Mohammad Asif.

Hassan was trying to force himself to be given the new ball by warming up, but Babar stuck to Naseem

Naseem- impressive

AUS looking more comfortable against the new ball than old ball.

I’m getting more and more suspicious of Shaheen’s action by the day

I don’t think he will survive a lab test if he has to do one

poor stuff this from shaheen. releasing pressure here.

Looking at the pitch and scoreboard advantage Australia with Pakistan having a longer tail our batsmen collapsed on a flatter pitch.

The mistake here is to pick the two spinners again after the last match.

Hassan Ali lacks match fitness. Should have not played this series. Totally out of rhythm

Now we will get overexcited over a few wickets from the fast bowlers on a pitch offering something let’s see how our Batsmen play on this wicket.

All 11 players can bat for Australia. They still can score over 350 here.

Game in balance. This wicket isnt as flat and is taking grip. Pakistan needs to wrap up within 320 to have any chance.

350 will be a very good total as i mentioned earlier.

Game pretty well balanced after the first day. Pak would like to restrict Aus below 325 and Aus would want atleast 350 and ideally something close to 400.

Nothing much in the wicket like previous two tests. Only reverse have been a weapon along with slight uneven bounce of some balls, yes with cracks widening a bit spin might come into play but its generally not fast spin.

Rauf should have been tried instead of Hassan.Hassan’s pace doesn’t trouble batsmen these days.He may be effective is he can reverse swing the ball.Rauf could have been more threatening. He could have been given short spells asked to bowl as quick as he can.

Good day for Pakistan. One more wicket would have put us firmly in control but with their big fish gone, you would have to say they wouldn't have taken this score after winning the toss.

Couple of early wickets with a still new ball tomorrow and the pitch likely to be gorgeous for batting on days 2 and 3, this could be heading to an absolute pulverisation but we need to stay on it.

First time I'm seeing Naseem bowling well - pleasing to see.

Lovely movement.

Indeed , same experience.. looks like a different bowler altogether, bowling those good line and length, didnt leak any runs....

Hope he can improve more and make use of his fast bowling skills efficiently..

I think Pakistan think tank dont address what match fitness is , they just go with past glories, he looks a bit out of shape and seems like carrying a niggle but continue to play test matches..

Pakistan fight back in final session after Khawaja, Smith fifties

Australia looked set for a big score before Pakistan fought back valiantly in the final session of the first day of the third and final Test in Lahore, with the visitors ending day one on 232/5.Winning the toss, Australian skipper Pat Cummins had no hesitation in opting to bat first. While the visitors rolled in unchanged into the third and final Test, Pakistan made one change – drafting in pacer Naseem Shah in place of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. The Australians found themselves in trouble early on, with Shaheen Afridi looking in sensational rhythm. He first trapped David Warner plumb, with a delivery that moved in as the Australian opener walked back for 7. In the same over, he would then dismiss Marnus Labuschagne for a duck off a delivery that nipped away from him, inducing the outside edge. After 2.5 overs, Australia found themselves at 8/2, with Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith tasked with withstanding the Pakistan pace assault.

They did precisely that, playing with a watchful mindset while punishing the bad deliveries. Despite Pakistan's best efforts, another breakthrough would not come around as Australia headed to lunch at 70/2.
The pair continued in the same vein in the following session, as Pakistan continued to toil hard on a flat wicket. None of the three pacers or the spin of Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali troubled Khawaja or Smith.

Khawaja's golden run in the series continued as he brought up his third fifty-plus score. And Steve Smith would also follow suit, notching up his milestone. It was a dominant session for the Australians as they added 75 runs without losing a wicket. The final session would finally bring some joy for Pakistan on the back of some disciplined bowling. The 138-run stand would finally be broken by Naseem Shah as he trapped Steve Smith LBW for 59. With a hint of reverse swing coming into play, Naseem got the ball to move in sharply as Smith was hit on the pad. The umpire had no hesitation in adjudging him out.

Khawaja continued on in his merry way, nudging the ball around and looking well set for another massive score. He was joined by Travis Head, who got a second life as Sajid Khan dropped a return catch.

Sajid though would reap the reward for some tight bowling, getting the big scalp of Khawaja. Batting on 91, Khawaja went to flick the ball through midwicket but only got the leading edge to the right of slip. Babar Azam reacted brilliantly and pulled off a stunning catch as Khawaja had to walk back to the pavilion in the nineties for the second time in the series. Naseem Shah would produce another brilliant delivery, getting the ball to shape in from the fourth stump. Head would be caught flat-footed, prodding at the delivery and edging it straight into the hands of the keeper to walk back for 26.

Cameron Green (20*) and Alex Carey (8*) ensured no more setbacks for the visitors, and they will resume day two in Lahore at 232/5.

Hassan ali has not been match fit since he got hit on his knee in the national t20 cup last year. Since that hit he was terrible in remaining national t20. Terrible in t20 World Cup . Terrible in almost all other loi and tests

Pakistan are ahead at the end of day 1.

If Pakistan can bowl out Australia for 300-350, they can win.

Very good performance so far by Pakistan. I am very happy for Shah. Should have gotten Head earlier though if the second slip was there. :-(

There is some movement and reverse swing which is enough for the Australian fast bowlers it’s hard to see Pakistan being favourites here Australia definitely ahead with Pakistan having to chase in the last innings.

Runs on the board Aussie favourite here can't see Pak scoring more than 200 unless there is a daddy partnership also Waqar trying to emulate Bill Lawry like gone and youngster round the wicket anyways we have too many walking wickets in this 11
