What's new

Australia reach 343/7 (lead of 196) at Stumps on Day 2 in the 1st Test vs England

There were 14 no-balls by Ben Stokes in the first session but just one was called in on-field.

Aussies lead by 11 runs now. Any lead over 120 onwards would literally shut English chance of making a comeback here

Wow leach get wicket of labuschange from nowhere .much needed breakthrough for England .

lol Leach is so rubbish. Labuschagne must be bawling his eyes out for getting out to Leach.

Warner for a double. Calling it now 5-0 to Oz especially if Stokes is out. Eng looks clueless.

Warner hits his 10th boundary , to go with 2 sixes , that is why Warner is such a high impact player , when he scores , he puts his team in strong position

Marnus should be kicking himself. Getting out to a short ball like that. Ashes double was there for the taking.

Smith is ridding on luck. A run out chance Miss and 2 edges so far

Robinson clocking 76 mph. Robert He is at least a couple of yards slower than Hazlewood.

If England can get Warner here quickly , they have a chance to restrict the lead here , if they bowl really well.

Perfect test for me ,Root and Smith both are not score much Runs and Australia is in dominant position :cummins

Future legend, Future ATG, future everything, Cameron Green is out for a duck again. 😂

This is the opening England wanted , Now is the time for Wood to show he is the leader of the English pace attack.

Aus collapsing here will give some chance to Eng. If Aus adds another 100 runs then it will be extremely hard for Eng to come back.

Was that a slower ball, or a loosener? He was quicker than that in the summer.

100 runs lead is minimum Australia wanted from here but looks unlikely

The England attack in pretty good, but the Australian one is excellent, very accurate.

If only Burns hadn’t dropped that sitter. The match could have turned right there.

I thought Travis head is the weak link in Australian Batting line up.

England will do well to restrict Australia under 300.
But Head is in good nick these days and the tail is pretty solid.

Marcus Harris averages 23 after 10 tests, why can't Khawaja play ahead of him as an opener?

England's love to give 1/3rd of the runs by bowling their poor spinner in these conditions is very very costly.

He’s having a mare today.

Now Root will drop him and bring in useless Bess.

Ollie Robinson average speed today = 130.1 kph. During the summer he was averaging around 132 kph.

The problem is that as a captain you need to sense these things and not bowl the spinner.
It is so far a match loosing performance by Leach alone.

Stokes is hurt, ollie has walked off and Leach going at nearly 9 an over. England already look physically and mentally spent.

This game is over imo.

England need to regroup, bring back Broad and Anderson and tie the series 1-1 in Melbourne..

Horror day for Leach.

Visiting spinner's role is so damn important in Australia with the heat/humidity and large ground dimensions. Least you expect is some control for the captain. But 10 overs for 90, expected so much better from Leach. Still believe that he is England's best spinner and must be persisted with. Hope he mentally recovers from this mauling.

Australia must be the toughest place for visiting spinners, not much assistance and they look to target the spinner to put the opponent captain under pressure. Forget averages, SR, most visiting spinners get tonked at a high economy rate. Even bad Aussie batting lineups are ruthless against visiting spinners.

Head marching towards a 100 that would make Gilly proud. Reckon 1-0 Aus is sealed already. Best Eng can hope from here is getting some of their batsmen in form. Can they avoid innings defeat?

India truly have been great in Australia is last few years. This man head coudnt last more than 20 minutes against likes of bumrah shami

Poor over rate by England bowlers ,only 82 over Bowl so far instead of 98 over.

Head could not put bat to ball against Shami/Ishant/Bumrah/Siraj in 2 series. But he has been a heavy scorer in domestic and scored a century against Sri Lanka as well.
I have seen him play live in Shield Cricket and he is good bat..and that tough initiation against Indians holds him in a good stead.
I wish Indian team management learns something from Australia. They went for young Travis Head instead of older useless Khawaja and that is long term planning.sigh..

Typical Aussie Strategy in Gabba.. Score fast. Leach has been very very poor.
England already are on its knees. There chances of reaching WTC final are very slim.
They need to regroup, may be call Ravi Shastri and Bharat Arun as consultants on how to make mother of comebacks in Australia. Right now it looks bleak.

Current RR: 4.09
• Min. Ov. Rem: 14.1
• Last 10 ov (RR): 59/1 (5.90)

This says it all about English Bowling effort.

Travis head played brilliantly. I seriously thought head was the weak link in this Australian Batting line up.
match is done and dusted for England.
