if the indians delayed the declaration even by an over to get a double the ch 9 team would be all over them

Well it's Channel 9.

Why are you even listening to them?

Mute the tv and stream ABC grandstand like every cricket fan in Australia

i would but it doesn't sync perfectly with the channel 9 video stream.:mv

India got 10 wickets #hatersgonnahate :haha:

Are you actually happy at getting 10 wickets, when first five were down at 200ish? This is second time in a row, bottom half scored 250+ runs...

Seriously??

Why would smith have called them in during that last bit?

We bat on till we lose a wicket but if we declare they just take tea, why not just take the extra runs on offer either way you aren't having a go at india till after tea.

i would have declared when harris got out personally. aus are never going to enforce the follow on anyway.

Declare at 480 on a flat pitch just 135 overs into the match?

Considering the high score for both sides in the first dig in this series why would that make sense?

The extra 50 they added took just 7 overs, those are runs they don't now have to make on day 4 when setting a total.

Indian bowlers remind me of an old Copywood...oops , Bollywood song

Ye chaand se roshan chehre, julfon kaa rang sunaharaa
Ye zeel see neelee aankhe, koee raaj hain in mein gaharaa
Taareef karu kyaa us kee, jinko Satan ne banaayaa

What so they are going to roll india and enforce the follow on?

declaring so early would only be for that and with so many of the tests being back to back they simply wouldn't do that.

They have to bat twice in this match so 7 overs for 50 runs now just saves time later on, if you can't get that i have to question if you really get anything about test cricket.

As I said before I have lost all hope from this team as far as away tests go.
Only a few people have the will to fight, others are either not interested or sadly don't have a brain. sensible-indian-fan it's time you accept the reality too bro, it's gonna be 0-3 over here and 0-4 in sydney it's so obvious.

When did I ever not accept that bro?

I do it too.

I was expecting 0-4 without fight before the tour.

Now I think we will have 0-4 with fight.

So progress.

Garbage mindset so this is the best we can expect.

To be successful, bowlers need to have skills on these surfaces. The more effort you put, the better results you yield. I have no doubt that Australia speedsters will succeed.

i dont understand what u are trying to say about enforcing the follow on. australia are never going to enforce follow ons with the health of their attack. but had they declared when harris got out they could have forced the indians to face 6 very uncomfortable overs before tea. i'll take that over 50 runs.

Aussies appealing for everything, I hope they get fined.

It's getting ridiculous.

Australia's day easily. Batted India out of the game. Just pick Vijay, Kohli cheaply first session tomorrow and watch India fold for 250-300. Don't make us follow on and hit the living daylights of our bowlers (300-400 in 60 overs). Under Dhoni's leadership, we deserve to lose every single game, be it overseas or in India.

Why are people expecting us to win ?

Unless we have 2-3 bowlers having sub 25 avg there's no chance we'll win in aus & sa.

Good day's play all up. Good batting from the OZ feasting on some wayward Indian bowling and a good response from Vijay who has now scored runs on featherbeds in India, seaming tracks in England and bouncy wickets in Australia. Lots to do for India but they've made the right start.

Let's call them rank-turners.

Not featherbeds. They were the same pitches where you lost 0-4.

Impact 3 inches outside off stump... aaaahhh

Comes off the the middle of the bat... aaahhh

Am I missing something here or don't Aussies know the rules for lbw?

Nahh aussies are just used to getting away with the LBWs.........

Big drop on a dead pitch before stumps from our specialist VC/good bloke, could be a hard slog on day 3.

So indian bowlers have secured the places of cook & bell in eng test team also of watson & haddin in aus team.
Aus & eng should atleast thank us for that

haddin was safe even with a duck today.

Pretty much.

I mean the 50 is great but they'll stick with Haddin for the Ashes so they don't have to go into also sorts of selection gymnastics with Voges/White etc

So an other flat deck.
Surely parosees wont mess up third time in a row.

Surprised that all 3 wickets had good batting wickets.

Good day for Australia a few more wickets would have made even better day for them.

Let's see how India plays day 3.

Australian pitches are turning out to be batting paradise, no swing, no seam and only little bit of bounce that's it. Batting pitches where you can score 4+ runs / over and not get get scared like you do in sub continent, the unpredictable bounce there which makes you extra careful. Can't figure out where are the all seaming pitches or even bouncy wickets? And where is Mitchell's 150+ head crushers? Is it only reserved for ashes, tbh not that great performance by Australia which means Indian team is extremely poor. Specially their bowling letting them down! This series is just a run fest yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

This.
Wickets have been o so flat !

Man today's bowling performance was really depressing to say the least!
We ain't gonna win a game with such brain-dead captaincy and bowling.
We should just hope for a draw from now on for all overseas matches, play 11 bloody batsmen, we will still concede the same but 11 batsmen give you a much higher chance of a draw.

Don't be.

Just 1 more test and we won't have to get humiliated overseas for a long time.

We need Bhuvi so badly.

You know what was the worst part today?

Shami picking up 4 wickets. He is BY FARRRRRRRRRRR the most garbage Test bowler of the lot and he picked up 4 wickets. Now he can't be dropped.

Shami has been such a big disappointment after the debut he made, but I guess that's the story of every Indian bowler.
Concept of bowling a consistent line and length seems lost on him.
As someone on this forum said before, us Indians just don't understand bowling and probably never will, bowling is just an alien concept for us.

Our someone said in the Indian forum, our bowlers look for magic balls to take wickets.

Shami tries to get one to move away from the middle of the stumps to outside off to get a nick.

What they don't understand is the concept of line and length and sustained pressure. Seriously if Ashwin (who got whacked only when Smith and co started slogging in the end) wasn't there today, Aus would have been 700.

:) You can't draw with eleven batsmen. Eleven batsmen will not concede the same. Without any bowlers in the side, Australia will rush to 1000/2 decl on day two. And you think we can bat out three days, against that scoreboard pressure? I don't think so. Better option for draw is to have nine batsmen and two bowlers, or 8+3. But don't expect these bowlers to turn up for the next match.:)

True. Really liked the way ashwin went about his work.
look ashwin isn't a great spinner probably will never be but atleast he knows his limitations, has a fully functioning brain and tries to rectify his mistakes.
even though he did get hit a bit, he made the batsmen take risks and din't gift them too many pies.
But our pacers on the other hand
And I agree with you our pacers look for a wicket every ball and have no idea how to work in partnerships and build pressure.

Yeah. Probably Ashwin may not become a gerat spinner but he can mature.

You know something more.

Today for 1 hour I was listening to Warne and Ganguly go on and on and on about how Ashwin should be bowling outside off and not in the off stump line.

After an hour and half of tight spell, Ashwin DID exactly what they asked to do.

Got whacked. Sure some of the balls were a touch short but the biggest issue was that there was no spin in the track and that allowed batsmen to drive or to go on the backfoot and cut it as they please.

Ashwin then reverted to the off stump line and run flow reduced a bit.

Now its true that Ashwin should impact more revolutions to get some spin but the pitch was really not helping the spinners.

Lyon in the same day went for 4 runs an over. Before Ashwin switched to outside off, his run rate was a touch below 2 but there was NO PRESSURE exerted at all at the other end with regular fours given. Finally after the mini whack due to outside off bowling and the final slogging, Ashwin finished with 3 rpo.

This guy can mature. I have hopes.

Now in the second innings, Ashwin should switch to outside off stump line (like what Warne and Ganguly said) to use the spin offered by the pitch (if its there).

If the spin is there and Ashwin does that, then I think great news for India that a spinner (who may not be great) is FINALLY maturing.

They can keep changing the bowlers every match, won't make a difference, results will be the same.
I've given up on our bowling, seen too many false dawns in my life to every again begin considering that we might become a good bowling team one day.

Yeah ashwin can mature, because atleast he is willing to use his brain and try different things.
