now ian chappel should say its the worst piece of captaincy he has ever witnessed lol

MJ being smacked around and taken apart. 145kph ball, went to the fence like a rocket.

And people were blaming indian blowers.this is a lifeless wicket.no hope for a result here

And idiots want the Perth tests moved to Burswood.

Bugger that and I fully support the WACA's position on that

Rahane, slapping Mitch in MCG, WOW!! - That has not happen in two seasons

Kohli tell Rahane that Johnson has also crossed his century

Can somebody shed light on that.. as in what did Kohli gesticulate? :)
No transmission today due to bad weather here..

he played 1 5 test series in and 3 4 test match series in australia sachin never notched up 500 in a single series either he was never that kind of batsman Kallis ponting used to score runs in bulk

As I said, not in his prime. He has scored over 450 in 2 match series. There were years when he was in prime form scoring 100 almost every match but none of the series were more than 2 matches. Anyways, it is good that at least there are some records for other batsmen

I don't like either team, but I am watching this for some strange reason. I loathe Kohli and his swagger, but hey, at least Johnson's average is climbing up again this series.

Reminding the world that there is only one true great quick right now. Dale Steyn.

Chappel blaming the pitch now, not Aussie bowlers or captain. What a tool. :))

The overall score is currently 905 for 13 wickets in 3 days!

How can anyone not blame the wicket? It is absolutely cr@p.

Good luck to the Indians. They are doing what they should do. But when Australia brought on Fredo Corleone to bowl his offspin after the Kookaburra reached the 20 over mark you knew that this was going to happen.

Dale is More consistent, no doubt.

you do realize that Sachin averages 53 in Australia while Kallis averages 48?

Johnson was never a great. Not even during those two series where he decimated England and Australia. Its pretty much been steyn and steyn and more steyn since 07 .

Dale is More consistent, no doubt.

Dale is simply better in all regards. Johnson is explosive, and can destroy teams on his own. But Dale's done that too. Even Broad who is poorer than Johnson has had some truly explosive spells. Dale just does everything better.

im not talking about averages I'm talking about how players like kallis ponting used to notch up twin 100s and 3-4 hundreds in space of 5-6 matches

For the half of that score, the sole blame was on bowlers on captain. For the second half, commentary is all about pitch. That's the point I was making.

Sure, Dale Steyn is a better fast bowler.

But Johnson has two invaluable assets himself which are crucial.

Firstly, the different angle of a left-armer.

Secondly, he is a genuine bowling all-rounder, who has scored a Test century off Steyn et al. That's why he has twice been the world's best cricketer at the ICC awards.

Its really easy, open the inning list of any batsman and see for yourself.

.......and over in Christchurch, there is a genuine balance between bat and ball!

Sri Lanka has put on 194 runs for the last 3 wickets, but Tim Southee is bowling with a 44 overs old ball to a field of FIVE SLIPS and TWO GULLIES!

What a shame that the MCG pitch is producing such total rubbish - currently an overall score of 922 runs for 13 wickets.

2.3 rpo isn't balance b/w bat and ball

How do you work that out? This isn't an ODI.

293-5 off 125 overs following on is a brilliant batting performance.

Following on you actively WANT to occupy the crease to tire the bowlers out and to wear out the new ball. Now Sri Lanka have 35 overs with a dead Kookaburra if they are good enough to use it.

Haven't seen much of the day's play other than th last couple of overs as I'm holidaying in Kiama but it looks like we bowled as badly as the Indians?

When are 9 going to release special memorabilia celebrating the phainty Johnohno has gotten today? :mj

How is Lokesh Rahul?

He averages 51 in first class.

Any Indians watch him play?

India may not get a lead now.

Ideally they should be looking for a lead of 150+

With all that hype around him, I thought Kannaur (:)) ) would score a double ton :)))

Actually, no.

The quicks were a bit down on pace but the problem was a dead, unforgiving pitch.

It has been painful viewing if you're not Indian. Just a dull boring bat-a-thon.

Have to give him some leeway.

First test Innings, against roaring MCG crowd, perhaps the nerves got better of him.

Did you enjoy Australia's batting yesterday?

Rahul played likr a total hack. Not even Shami would have played like that.

Flat pitch, game undet control and the guy played lke a tailender.

He better play well in the 2nd innings. Hopefully.
